Customer service was amazing! And the environment was relaxed and very nice. However, I got a perm, I had an inspiration photo and what I got looks natural but not like the inspiration. I was charged $235 for the service even though when I booked online with Yvette, it showed $200. Fast forward to a couple hours later and the curls that are supposed to be the most defined around my face and on the top of my head, are almost completely gone not even 24 hours later. Additionally, some of the curls throughout are gone as well. I am disappointed that I spent so much money on something to have the top and face framing pieces flat and the rest wonky. I really hope, if it doesn't damage my hair too much, that someone can fix this for me. read more

Outstanding Full Service Salon! I get my hair cut at Serenza with Helena and I also get facials with Eva. Both Helena and Eva are personable, professional, and very good at what they do. Each time I get a service there, I walk away refreshed and looking great. I love Serenza Salon! Every time I've come here, I've had stylists who knew exactly what I wanted and cut my hair perfectly. I also chose Mallory from this salon to do my hair on my wedding day. The results were spectacular! It was exactly what I wanted and absolutely beautiful. She was so gracious and kind that she offered to do my sisters' hair as well (they were my bridesmaids). She really made it such a positive experience and I could not recommend anyone better for hair cutting and styling. (She also gave me a discounted trial session so I could see what I wanted done with my hair a month before the wedding. Great cuts, great with color...she's so experienced, the only hairdresser who understood my explanation of what we used to call "cellophane color" back in the 80s (semi-permanent color) and was able to replicate it. Today I walked into the grocery store and realized that people were smiling at me. This never happens and I was totally confused. Then I realized it must be because of MY HAIR. See, before I went to Daniel, I can only compare myself to that witch with the apple. I gave off that haggard, angry, scowling, eat this cursed fruit, ancient person vibe. But sitting in Daniel's chair turned me into someone akin to Snow White. Apparently I look ten years younger and I smile more and people dig that. And I love the cut more and more as each day passes. Everything from the beginning of my appointment to the end was great. As a first-time client, I received a goodie bag packed with samples and coupons. Daniel is incredibly experienced, knowledgeable, down-home-old-school-Seattle friendly, and easy to talk to. I have never been treated so rudely before I had an appointment for a perm. I had never been here before. The hair stylist took me to her chair instead of talking to me about what I WANTED she starts with "we will cut 8"-12 off then perm it." I had never met her before and she starts off in an attitude . Hello! But I don't want all my length cut off then have a perm that would shorten my hair up to my ears. I just want 2 inches off the bottom and as I try to talk to her about it, she interrupts me several time. Today I made an appointment for a mini facial. I asked to add high frequency and got an email that it would cost an additional $30. THIRTY DOLLARS to zap a zit?! I've been going for a few years for facials, and my daughters get their hair cut there. It was fine, but my one daughter did have a pretty so-so haircut once. We asked for an a-line bob and she got a dutch boy. I finally bit the bullet and went for myself. I wanted some ombre highlights like Jessica Biel. I ended up with these terrible stripes starting halfway down my hair. I complained and had them fix it. Although it was still pretty ugly looking it was pretty close to the color of the rest of my hair. Essentially I paid $125 for really bad highlights that you could only really see because I look like a tiger from Jersey Shore. I'm a performer and I'm honestly pretty mortified to go on stage looking like this. I should have stayed with Vain. Forget convenience. Go to Vain. If you want something simple I'm sure they can accommodate. If you want trendy, go to Vain. When I explained I couldn't wear my hair up because the blunt bleach line would show, they explained the Hollywood starlets don't wear their hair up either because they too have the bleach lines. Hit up Zach for the best beard trim South of Seattle. I've got a fairly large beard with a handlebar mustache and Zach is the only hair person I trust with it after multiple mishaps at the "hip" barbershops (looking at you Rudy's and Capellis). He either has a spa like beard trim with hot and cold towels (my favorite if I've got time) or just a straight up trim but either way he'll take care of you. Serenza itself has a nice staff plus beer or wine with your cut....I know that's fairly standard these days but I still appreciate it. PS- If you aren't rocking a beard he also does a straight razor shave which is a dying art these days. read more

She was very friendly and did a great job with my hair. :) I'm about a month out before I have another appointment, but I was so pleased with my hair that I will definitely be returning again. I highly recommend Sabrina, she listens to what you want and let's you know if your expectations are realistic in one sitting. She actually took the time to go over what could be done in that sitting and what needed to be done to achieve the look I ultimately want. I have colored my hair so many times I was just happy to see it get as light as it did when I had colored it black just months prior! I went here with a LivingSocial coupon for a shellac mani/pedi about two months ago. Normally I would not travel more than 30 minutes for something like this but I figured it was time to be pampered. The inside of the salon/spa is really nice and high end. I was offered a beverage. So far so good. Then the mani pedi started. I will give them points for hygiene. The place was spotless as were all the tools. Unfortunately, this is where the experience fell completely flat. The woman doing the services was nice enough, but she was neither chatty nor did she offer me magazines (which I didn't think of until another manicure started with a different employee). On top of this, while I was looking forward to some relaxation, instead I kept on getting off-color remarks from the woman doing my mani/pedi (maybe she meant well, but still). I have wide feet, and some shoes cause blisters, and I had some marks on my feet...she made several comments along the lines of "you should get new shoes, though I'm sure it is hard with wide feet like yours". Seriously? I tried to be friendly, and I told her I'm prone to biting my fingernails when they aren't painted, which is why I like to get shellac manicures as this makes biting near impossible. She laughed, but then said "oh, your cuticles around your toes are dry, do you also chew your toenails?". Again, this might have just been a friendly jab, but it did not contribute to a relaxing experience. On top of all of this, the entire experience took about two hours. It wasn't half an hour of filing/painting and 1.5 hours of massage either, it just took her forever to paint my nails. At the time I thought it might have just felt like forever because I didn't have reading material and as her comments made me uncomfortable, but no, it really took two hours. On top of this the manicure and pedicure started peeling 2 days later. I'll give Serenza props for saying they would repair anything if it chipped/peeled within a week, but after the first experience, I wasn't about to drive half an hour to sit another two hours for more shoddy work. Maybe they are a great place for hair, but as far as nails go, there are definitely better options. read more

Today I think she over processed my hair, placed the foils 2 inches from my roots and I'm not sure what happened with the cut but I have a "shelf"... spoke with the owner Daniel and he merely wanted to set up a meeting for me to chat with her... he told me it was too late in the day to fix anything... Unbelievable! So now I get to walk around looking like I didn't spend the $250 I just spent. I expected for him to at least ask me to come in so he could look at it... It was only 4 o'clock. (Review of wax/facial only) Recent transplant to the area (from N. Seattle) and have been looking for a new place for a great brow wax. Booked with Taryn, and she did not disappoint. Been back since, and have also had a facial from her. She gives a great consultation, perfect amount of conversation. And, I'm so pleased with my eyebrows and my skin. The neck and arm massage were very good too. There is one front desk person who is so friendly (another not so much). Easy online booking. I chose this salon because I LOVE Aveda :).....My stylist was Helena and she was VERY nice, professional and had amazing customer service. She is truly an asset to that company as far as customer service goes. She also gives a wonderful shampoo. The foot soak was great, and the hair products smelled wonderful. My hair looked wonderful, and I left feeling a lot better about my hair. Overall, I would return for Helena's customer service, the beautiful new salon and the great parking...but I can;t cheat on my hairstylist too many times... she might also disown me as a friend ;) read more

I had an appt with Danielle this past weekend. I arrived to 2 very friendly women working at the front desk. They greeted me right away and assisted me with any questions I had. I waited briefly til my hairdresser was finishing up with her current client. The waiting area is small but quaint with a comfortable sitting area with a fireplace. There are some fun merchandise that you can shop while waiting too. I had a chance to talk to one of the estheticians that work there and decided to make a return appt for one of their spa wraps and possible get a pedicure. When Danielle was finished with her client she came and got me. We talked about what visions I had for my hair and discussed options. She was very knowledgeable and interested in my thoughts. After she coloured my hair she offered me a place to sit while my hair processed and even soaked my feet and offered me coffee, tea, wine or water. I felt so amazingly pampered. Once my hair was done she washed it and cut it. I usually let my hair dry naturally so I declined a blow out and style but I could see right away my color was perfect. I made a follow up appt for 8 weeks out and plan to make a day out of it with spa treatments too. This was the most pricey hair appt I've ever had but I promise you it was WELL WORTH every penny. I got a last minute appointment here ( should've known better) in hopes of getting a blonde balayage. It was a late appointment (6:45pm) and I was the last one there. I showed the stylist (Melissa) a photo of the style I wanted and very strongly emphasized that I wanted to be majority blonde. After putting on the bleach, I only processed for 20-25 minutes, diet red flag because I have thick course hair and have had it bleached before, so I knew I should've sat for at least 40. Didn't say anything, maybe it was express bleach, I'm not a hair stylist. She then proceeded to take the lower foils out revealing almost no change to the hair color I had entered with. As she began blow drying it I could tell I was not going to be satisfied but she assured me that it was "just the lighting" and it was "lighter than what I had". My hair is now orange with streaks of white blonde, the ends are damaged (which she did not cut after I asked her to) and I am out $120. read more

I absolutely loved going here. I previously went to vain downtown, and unless I wanted to get a $75 haircut, it was always just meh. My stylist was Dirk. He was friendly, funny, and kept conversation going. In addition to having the skill to deal with my unruly curly hair (which is something I have had other stylists struggle with), he gave me tips on how to repair my hair from my dorm room dye job. There was no pressure to have it colored or treated there, he simply have suggestions on how to make it look better when I had the money, or wanted to do it. The cut is fantastic. There is no weird triangle around my head, and it is the perfect length for someone who is always on the go but wants shorter hair. He even gave me styling tips before I left. I'm new to the area and I saw reviews on another site and walked in to make an appointment. I was able to get an immediate appointment with Paul. He did a fantastic job cutting my hair. He took the time to listen to what I wanted and took time with the cut itself. He has some suggestions for other changes to the cut when I'm ready for them. I received lots of compliments on the cut. I think the prices are reasonable - $5 more than what I paid in a small Montana city. I had a second appointment for color and am just as pleased with the results. Amy does the BEST color. I get compliments ALL the time. And she is sweet, and fun, and funny and positive, and I always leave in a good mood after seeing her. And I got my husband to go, and she finally talked him into a more modern style, and that shaved at least 5 years off his looks! We had to go back, so Amy could give him a refresher course (for free!) on how to do this modern look, but she was soooo good with him -- she had him laughing and in a good mood while he was learning all this new stuff. I decided to treat myself to a pre-vacation body treatment and I had been wanting to check out Serenza Salon anyway so I decided to give them a try - wow was I impressed!! First of all the spa if GORGEOUS! High end finishes, spacious and luxurious. It's the kind of spa you would expect to find in a high end resort or a 4 star hotel. Second, the service itself was phenomenal - my technician Secily was professional, sweet, and has a wonderful touch. After a whole body coffee ground exfoliation, I was rinsed clean, then skillfully massaged with a yummy coconut lotion. Just awesome. I left with dewy soft yummy smelling skin and a feeling of complete relaxation. Can conveniently book a reservation online but not certain at all they welcome all customers.  I felt rushed.  Also ordered a facial online with the massage. I was charged for both as they sent me directly to the register to pay after the massage and NO facial. The young lady at the register seemed to want me out of there too. I told her I didn't get my facial and instead of giving me my facial, they just deleted it from the bill. Next, the young lady ask if I wanted my receipt and I said "absolutely". She completed the transaction, I signed and STILL tipped the massage therapist, but no receipt.  I asked for the receipt and she says she thought I said no. I don't usually get my hair done professionally and wanted to treat myself and have heard good things about this salon so decided to try it out. My stylist was Kori, I really liked her a lot! The only thing that was kind of crappy was I had talked to the lady at the front desk about how much I wanted to spend. She said for a half foil and color it would be $120. I told her I didn't want to go over that amount and even talked to the stylist about that as well. As she was rinsing my hair she said the highlights turned out lighter than she wanted so she was going to put some hair color over to darken them up. I said okay...not knowing she was going to charge me $30 extra to do so :-( So my $120 visit turned into $150 dollars + $20 tip :/ I just wish we would have stuck to the original price we agreed on. But oh well... I don't think I will be returning unfortunately. read more

Yvette saved my hair, but I could tell it was a major hassle, i understand fixing a co workers hair mess up would be frustrating but don't let a customer know that. I have only had horrible experiences here. The first time I went was to get a hair cut. I asked for a simple trim and told her that I liked the length it was but I wanted her to freshen it up. She barely cut any hair off at all and didn't even touch my bangs. It was really bad, like she had never cut hair before. I decided to give the place a second chance when I got a shellac manicure there with my step mom. Corina did my nails and Helen did hers. Corina did an okay job. She left a few little bumps of nail polish in my nails and just tried to paint over them instead of actually fixing them. She wasn't great to talk to and was a little condescending but she wasn't terrible and the shellac lasted two weeks. Helen was pretty bad. She left bumps on my step moms nails as well as little pieces of cotton ball from when she took her original nail color off. It was especially bad because she talked about being a perfectionist before she started. After two weeks one of my nails came off and so I decided to go back to Corina to get a new color because was too lazy to find someone new to see, which I regret and I will not make the same mistake. I also set up another hair appointment, with someone new this time. Danielle gave me the worst haircut I have ever had. She gave me layers that have two lengths; the full length of my hair and half way down my hair. Half my hair is to my chin and the other half is past my shoulders. This place is terrible. read more

Helena is AMAZING! I had never really done anything with my hair and I decided it was time for a change. I asked for a haircut and some peekaboos and she definitely delivered. Although my hair was a lot shorter (I've never had short hair), I realized it was exactly what I needed. With some layers and some highlights, I left feeling refreshed and happy.
