Food is good. We tried this restaurant for the first time. Judging by the name, we thought it would have some Asian or Hawaiian influence. However, it did not. Offerings are standard fare American dining type breakfast. While the food was good and portions were large, it is hard to justify the price and wait time when so many similar more affordable options are available. We ordered the French toast, banana French toast, chicken fried steak, and New York steak and eggs. The fresh toast was good. The syrup was very weird. It is not your standard maple syrup. The eggs were fine. The bacon was fine. The country fried steak and eggs was the best. It had a nice batter. They were generous with the gravy. The hash brown casserole was unique and very cheesy. The New York steak was fine. It was cooked to order. The potatoes were seasoned lightly. The iced latte was way too sweet and expensive for what it was. They have an inside and outside eating area. GREAT BLT! I was dropped off here with family during a jet boat tour excursion and decided to dine-in as it's the closest eatery inside the Island Mall to the London Bridge dock. I was pleasantly surprised with the quality of the food at this restaurant. The crispy bacon inside my BLT was to die for and the sandwich was overall very tasty. The sweet potato fries were also yummy, but I was severely disappointed when they only placed four waffle fries on my plate. It's restaurant 101, you need to have proper portions. Our waiting service left much to be desired, our waitress didn't really check on us and seemed a little standoffish. It felt like she was looking into my soul at some points, I'm not sure what her intentions were. The younger staff were super nice and really hardworking! I need to give a major shoutout to them for taking their job seriously. I wish we could've gotten one of the younger staff members, they had great customer service from what I could tell. Overall, I really liked the tiki aesthetic and Hawaiian decor at Makai. I think I'd give it another try when I visit Havasu again, however I'd come at a different time and order something else like breakfast. read more

If you go there and don't like the service or the food, then something is probably wrong with you. These are the nicest people and they serve amazing breakfast. Not great. We've been to every breakfast place in Havasu and this was bottom of the barrel. $45 for breakfast. Same breakfast at a local hole in the wall was $30. We came in on a weekend - 2 hours before closing and received mediocre service even though only 4 tables were seated. Our waitress walked by every customer without stopping to take our order or even look our direction. We were seated for 15 minutes before she stopped. The employees seemed to be more concerned with cleaning up and tipping out than taking new orders. I ordered the country breakfast and most everything about it was disappointing. The eggs however were cooked perfectly but the mysterious grease on the plate from the gravy made them almost inedible. I don't know if this is the way the gravy usually is but it was almost curdled. The gravy was sweet, very little flavor and needed pepper and salt - it also had way too much rosemary for my liking. Biscuits were dry and hash was not cooked throughly. Please Chefs - taste the food you are making - this gravy i would not serve to anyone. The authentic "chilaquiles"'was on a bed of overdone chips with barely any sauce. Originally when they were brought out i thought it was nachos!? It was dry and lacking flavor. My husband ate half then tossed the rest. Bloody Mary lacked everything including vodka. Celery was old, olive was rancid and they put table salt around the rim. Yuck. Unfortunately we will probably never be back. We will stick to our local mom and pop eateries which are consistent and service is on par. It's too bad because i really wanted to like this place. read more

They even bring out a big bowl of water for your pooch. We went when it wasn't too busy so we got a seat with an umbrella. But there are several tables on the patio without shade. So consider this when you plan your trip. We ordered steak and eggs and salmon bene. Both with hashbrown casserole. I dare you to ever turn that one down. Portions are just enough. Although after having the bloody, I felt pretty full. Also had a morning glory for the first time. Yum! It won't be the last. Its a great place to start your fun filled day. I took my family here for breakfast before leaving lake havasu and we enjoyed it very much. Aside from the beautiful view they have of the lake and the bridge, the employees are very polite and the food was excellent. The employees were very welcoming and always checked on us to make sure we were okay. They have outdoor sitting which is full due to the view and they have indoor sitting with a bar area as well. On Friday and Saturday night, however, none of those places take reservations so the wait is about 45mins - 1 hour. I believe they are owned by the same group but I could be wrong. Anyway we wanted to do the Tourist thing and eat near the London Bridge. We went to Makai Cafe for breakfast because of the long waits at night for dinner. The breakfast burrito was huge (see photo). The salsa was not too spicy. Banana nut french toast came with eggs and bacon. Very good but I would get the syrup on the side (see photo). Little too much sweetness, Strawberry cheesecake pancakes were great. Good view of the bridge with inside and outside seating. Parking lot adjacent to the restaurants.
