It contains a wealth of experience, knowledge & unique experience that highlights how valuable to the community it is. And it always has been. I've find childhood memories of frequent visits here with family, and my school. And hope whoever happens upon this humble review takes a chance and pays the RMSC a visit. As a day here, wandering the exhibits is a day well spent. Particularly with family.

I was surprised to see their Cafe was closed on a Saturday afternoon...very bizarre. But it is what it is. The price was a bit steep to be honest as well. On other experiences we've visited the planetarium which is excellent. Unfortunately they didn't have a show for us that day that we could make but it's OK. Definitely a great spot to visit with kids and the family for a nice afternoon.

Super easy process to check in and put my phone in a yondr pouch; as this was a phone free event. I loved that pre show while waiting in our seats they had Phoebe Bridgers music playing. The laser light show was exclusively made for the album. I really enjoyed getting my first listen with visuals which enhanced the experience. The RMSC staff were very kind and helped to keep the exciting energy going for the event. Really glad I was able to go as the shows kept selling out.

Back then, the planetarium felt truly special. I remember attending concerts where the band performed behind the dome. With the lights off, they were completely hidden while the stars were projected overhead, creating a unique effect that was unforgettable. The theater also had comfortable reclining seats, and the star projector itself was the centerpiece. For its time, the projected night sky was remarkably realistic and made every show memorable. On this visit, I was disappointed by how much had changed. The original star projector has been retired from regular use and now serves mainly as a display piece, although I understand it is occasionally operated for special programs. The current digital projection system didn't provide the same crisp, realistic view of the night sky that I remembered. I also found the replacement seating far less comfortable than the original reclining chairs as mentioned in the review below. I understand that maintaining a facility like this is expensive and that upgrades require funding. Even so, I left feeling that some of the planetarium's original charm and sense of wonder had been lost. I hope future renovations will improve both the seating and the presentation while preserving the history that made this place so memorable.

The Roc Holiday Village offers plentiful food and shopping options. I enjoyed a tasty hot chocolate from laughing gull chocolates while browsing the shops. I stopped into The Lodge Bar on both visits and got to hear live music! It really put me in a festive and fun mood, having a drink while watching the musicians play Christmas songs. They have games and plenty of seating available in the lodge bar. We also tried out the free ice skating. You have to wait in line to get your free skates. The line moved quickly and we were skating in no time. They have skate mates available which helps to makes the rink accessible to all experience levels. I needed some help and used a skate mate. The city backdrop just added to the overall experience. The Roc Holiday Village was beaming with holiday magic and warmth. How lucky we are to have this attraction in our city. I felt like I was in a Christmas movie.

You will need a ticket ahead time for story time w Anna and Elsa. A few rows to shop local vendors and find some treasures. Very unique and hand made items. Some food and beverage options around the shopping village too. Chai, hot cocoa, pizza and donuts to name a few. Lodge bar is huge and open to the public. Grab a table or seat fast. Inside stage with live music and karaoke. A bunch of free games to play as you enjoy a tasty drink at the bar. Cash and credit taken. There are a few bar tastings events.. check their website. My favorite area is the outdoor seating area, scattered with fire pits, chairs and stumps to sit on and enjoy the atmosphere. Nothing beats watching the snow come down with a beverage in hand by a warm fire. They have igloo inns to rent, they seem to sell out way ahead of time. Cozy igloos sit 6-8 people, for 90 minutes. You can preorder food and drinks. You get a server that will bring you drinks and food too. Larger igloos available for 30 or 40 people. All igloos are heated. I was super excited to see one of the monorail cars from midtown mall on display. A great throwback to so many of our childhoods. It wasn't the holidays until you visited magic mountain, sibleys and took a ride on the monorail with your kazoo!

They could also make a smore before the great adventure. We were briefed about walking across the street and given a container for the fire flies as well as a net. Then we walked across the street. Be warned, after you get across to the field the event is self-led and you can walk around the field and find lightning bugs are your leisure. It was a nice evening with my son (he's 7) and my best friend.

There are also food vendors, make sure to grab some food too. Wow, my new favorite Rochester festival! The Expo is the highlight of Rochester Real Beer Week and…read moreis hosted all along Gregory Street in the South Wedge. I attended their third annual event this past Saturday and I'm so glad I didn't miss it again. First off, you get unlimited tastings from a selection of 80+ craft beers. Lots of local breweries and some imports, too. My favorites were Oskar Blues Chardonnay Barrel Aged Pilsner, Stillwater Artisanal Cellar Door Wheat Ale brewed with White Sage, and the Petrus Aged Red (tart cherry beer from Belgium). I only started tasting at 8:30 though (it runs 6-10pm) and some that came highly recommended by friends were already sold out. The crowd was very different from the average free festival crowd (this one costs $45-$65/ticket or $10 for DDs). Lots of hipsters in their 20s-30s and only a few staggering drunks. I saw a lot of people I knew from different areas of life. Beer can be a uniting beverage. Besides the beer tastings they had several food trucks, lots of cigars (not my thing), merchandise, live music, and street performers. I followed the soul band Shine to Tap and Mallet after the festival and danced/ate there for the remainder of the night. Tips: take your time, don't finish something you don't like (they have buckets for this), and come hungry/thirsty. Beer is filling and the food trucks are plentiful. Also go early to get the best selection.

Three days of amazing music on two stages, Charles Wesley Godwin, moe, Tommy Brunetts all star cavalcade and Joan Jett and the blackhearts to name a few! Great seeing Lou Gramm a local favorite. Since it is a whiskey themed event, the world of whiskey was super popular, so many different distilleries showcased. Definitely an incredible experience sampling whiskeys from coast to coast. Iron smoke , Tin cup, den of thrives were some of my favorites. Other options were beers, wine and craft cocktails ... the old fashion was phenomenal! VIP area had a great viewing section and some lovely screwball cocktails... so smooth. Loved the fireside chats they offered, interesting to hear the different speakers talk about their process and love of what they do. Really hope this festival returns next year.. same spot too!!

The bathroom is on the basement level and there are a lot of stairs required to climb to get there. The building is accessible with elevators available on each level. The theatre does have a bar area where you can get drinks (alcoholic beverages, water,pop) and snacks. The seats were close together but comfortable. We enjoyed the show and had no issues with our seats.

This is an easy 10 minute drive off the Thruway via the Canandaigua exit, and offers a large, free parking lot. It's bright and spacious inside, and the offerings include ballet, tribute bands, political speakers, journalists, and musical theater. I'm happy to say I have a new arts venue to add to my rotation, and will definitely be checking out their upcoming events. A note: there are a decent amount of stairs at the front entrance, but there is an accessible entrance on the other side of the building.
