Catrina and her team are amazing, but Catrina is a step above the rest. She is an absolute gem, and I wish I had met her sooner! Catrina is a rockstar and has become one of my favorite people over my time with her. Not only does she do gorgeous work, she became the rock I needed right before my wedding to keep me centered. The quality of services this team provides is top notch. In preparation for my wedding, I had my trial (which was spectacular), emsculpting services (which helped get rid of the mommy pouch), BBL service (which gave me that extra curve on my wedding day), hair spa and blow out (so relaxing), and a facial. I cannot say enough fantastic things about this studio and Catrina. I love her to death and am beyond grateful for having her be in my corner on one of the biggest days of my life! Catrina is a very talented makeup artist I came across to do my makeup for an event. I was so overjoyed that I found her, because nobody else can compare to her and her artistry. She is extremely good in what she does, and once you experience her makeup firsthand, you will never want to go anywhere else. Not only does she excel in her work, but she is also an extremely caring and accommodating individual. She makes sure you are comfortable and feeling your best at all times. Catrina is not a professional makeup artist. She burnt my lips and then tried to blame me for her negligence. She had other customers at the time of my confirmed appointment. She tried to turn this onto my husband and I. STAY AWAY FROM MAKEUP BY CATRINA IN NJ. If I could Post pictures of her work , you'd all run the other way !! She tried to say she almost had us escorted away out by the police. THAT IS A LIE ! I should have called the police for her ripping me off and causing me physical & mental anguish, pain and suffering. I went to a party IMMEDIATELY after her debacle with me and the guests at the party were shocked at my appearance and the burns on my lips. There are plenty of pictures to prove this. Ps- this occurred last Saturday and I still have burnt lips today!! My makeup looked like my 5 year old granddaughter did it. This I swear to you all ! STAY AWAY!! READ ALL THE REVIEWS LADIES! I wish I read all the reviews before I booked this con. As I read them after what she did to me I was reliving it! This person Catrina WILL cancel on you on your big day I'm so fortunate she did to me 3 days prior to my wedding. I'm a hard working mom of 3 beautiful girls and my now husband and I had a date set for December 5th for our wedding. I've had 2 correspondence by email with this woman and 1 on when I booked Nov 15 and she replied on the 21st which I replied on the 22nd. I called her the day of the 22nd as I didn't hear from her all day and was on my way home at 3pm from work and she called me back very ignorant. I'm a very easy going person and I should have taken this as a red flag but I was just so eager and new to this that I figured I'll give her a chance. Well, I had a 7 minute conversation with her (I save everything so I have proof too) especially since this woman took almost a week to answer after my deposit! I already picked a pic of makeup I like from a girl on her page and presented her with that one pic and a bun updo, she told me through email that a I would have to buy extensions for that bun. So I asked what she recommended and I then told her I have to look and I'll send it later. Well she never replied. So I called and she calls me back and ladies, this women is very arrogant and pompous I wish I listened to my heart. I told her what I wanted and big red flag number one she says "I can do that but I can't make you look like her, people want to look like Kim kardashian and I can't do that" ummm I never said that , then I ask her what she recommends and she's says a down or up half down do and that she usually sees her clients, so I reply " I pass by on way home from work I can show you my hair and she said no! I'm leaving now and there's not back and forth like this I deal with 100s brides and I'm professional" she kept repeating professional. She is anything but a profession ladies, a professional would never disrespect or not want a client who booked not come in to show her hair, so as I'm so easy going I said I would look at other hair styles with my now husband to send you and she says "it's Thanksgiving the next day holiday so send and I'll have someone get back to you by Monday" well what a shock! No reply by Monday so waited til December 2nd! Exactly 3 days before my wedding!!! For reference, my hair is pass my shoulders. So after I left a voicemail that even says "she will reply within 24to 48hours" I waited til 3 days before and on that day I had a advent celebration at my parish on the second and it's near her shop and I figured I'd stop by her shop to actually see her and find out if she can do the down do I decided on from her suggestion and at almost 10am her shop which I never went to was not open like it says on her site at 9am, so I went into the next door which was a spa and I asked the women inside if they were associated. She proceeded to tell me that they were not and if she could take a message for her and I told her "no" maybe she'll contact me later I'll try again. Ummm , this Cartrina called me about 2 hours later and went on a rant how she's canceling me because I'm harassing her! I never met this women or heard from her til that day on dec 2nd! She told me I was trying to defame her business and that she spoke to me for hours!! I never spoke to her more than 7 minutes!! I save everything! She told me I was harassing her and that she would now give me a refund! She is a fraud, a liar, and a very arrogant pompous individual. Ladies, I'm so happy she canceled, i found a beautiful woman that actually took care of me. Catrina, I'm glad you found the refund button! Also that you made me find my way to my actual human being artist. I would post a pic but you'll find it soon! You are not professional, you are not kind, you are arrogant and I pray one day you become respectful and a decent human. I never in my life dealt with such disrespect or expected it from a person like you but I have everything saved, so if any of you need proof I got it!! I found Catrina on yelp and Thank Goodness I did! She made me look amazing on my wedding day! I don't wear make up on a regular basis and Catrina took that into consideration. My now husband said he had never seen such a beautiful girl and he actually cried! I first met Catrina in 2017 for a wedding I was in at Eastland Golf Course, this was only the second time I had ever gotten my makeup professionally done for a wedding and the first time ended in catastrophe. I was nervous but she assured me I would leave satisfied and she continued with confidence, I haven't used any other professional makeup artist since that day. Catrina has done my makeup for every major milestone in my life... my now husband's surprise birthday party (where we got engaged!), my engagement photos, and my wedding day. Catrina has always carried herself with the utmost professionalism, I've witnessed first hand her ability to lay makeup on all different skin types, complexion, and features in a timely fashion. Catrina was supposed to do our makeup for my sisters wedding at the end of July, but was a no show on the actual day. She called one hour after she was supposed to arrive claiming an emergency had come up. Life happens, but it was completely unprofessional to not give a bride on the day of her wedding a courtesy call or text to say she would be late. She was quite rude on the phone and very pushy that she could still do the job even though we were heading to the venue and had already come up with an alternative plan. Inconsistency and attitude is a huge red flag for any "professional" and I would not recommend Makeup by Catrina to anyone looking to get their makeup done for a special occasion. read more

Her personality was enjoyable and professional on what can be a very hectic day. She eased our concerns and the makeup turned out beautiful. I live in Staten Island and I was searching for a makeup artist to come to my hotel room while I was in Atlantic City for my 30th birthday. I came across Catrina's profile on yelp and gave her a call. She was very professional on the phone and her prices were very reasonable. She arrived to my hotel room and I immediately noticed that she had top of the line makeup. I was relieved to find out that she even had her own lighting since the lights in my room were so dim.
