Finally got to try maki mart after visiting that Toronto Korean festival. Small space with a two bar tables for dine in. I got the buy 3 get 1 drink for free deal. I thought I wouldn't be able to finish 3 hand rolls because I did have a snack before but I devoured it. Quick, easy , tasty and affordable (under $20, but also depends on your choices) meal if you want a sushi fix.

Good deal and convenient lunch idea- you need at least 3 rolls + 1 drink to be full, so it's around $10~ I recommend the salmon belly and fatty toro, generous filling and fresh ingredients. Comes with a drink when you buy 3 rolls or more. I like the Corn soup.

Tasty little makis packaged so the nori is separate from the roll to keep the nori dry and crispy before eating, just like onigiri from combis in Japan. The rice is tasty and consistent and the filings have all been good too. The store is quaint and cute. The cashier was friendly and helpful in explaining the concept and giving us her opinions on each roll. Tip: If you post a story on ig you get a free roll!

Maki Mart recently opened their 2nd location in North York (along Yonge St. near Byng Ave). This small shop is the perfect place to grab some hand rolls to go. The variety and selection of the handrolls is vast and can be quite overwhelming! The more exclusive ingredients are priced at a higher price point but they also have some non-raw and vegetarian options as well. They currently have a promo where you can buy 3 hand rolls where you get 1 free drink. Moreover, they are also giving coupons where you get 10% off your next 3 visits. I stopped by Maki Mart on a Wed afternoon. Some of their rolls were already sold out but I opted to get the fatty toro, jumbo salmon, and seasoned scallop hand rolls. For my drink I got a warm pumpkin soup. Service was friendly and the staff waited while I made decisions regarding which rolls to purchase. Food wise, the rolls are a great snack. I didn't really enjoy the seasoned scallop but the jumbo salmon and fatty toro were great. Definitely will return to purchase more hand rolls in the future!

I ordered 4 makis (jumbo shrimp, 2 fatty toro, and 1 jumbo salmon). I loved how easy to eat they were and how simple they were. The fish is fresh and the rolls make a great snack. That said, the rolls are quite small so this is not something I would eat as a meal / sushi craving replacement. The buy 3 get 1 for $1 is a great deal. Everything is premade so it's very quick to order and go. Great for those in a rush.

The handrolls here are amazing!!! Despite being a tiny shop, they offer a lot of different handroll flavours at different price points. I grabbed six total - spicy squid, tuna mayo, salmon teriyaki, sweet corn, hamachi, and sesame lobster. Every single one was delicious, and the wrapping kept the nori super crispy. My favourite would definitely be the hamachi and tuna mayo. There's actually quite a bit of filling in each roll, so it doesn't feel like you're just eating rice (the issue I have with most onigiri). Even the more affordable roll like the sweet corn tasted amazing. I'll definitely be back to try all the other flavours! So happy I tried this place.

Quick and efficient staff. I ordered 6 rolls at random because I wanted a quick dinner. I originally thought by looking at the labels I would enjoy golden corn the least, but it surpringly was my favourite of the bunch. I ended up feeling full from 4, and ate the remaining 2 as a half breakfast the next morning. You get a small wasabi packet and the cutest soy sauce applicator I've ever seen. It's meant to help you have soy sauce when you need it for your roll. This type of meal I think requires a sanitary environment though. For me I took it home, had a table, and assembled the rolls as I went. But I think it may be a bit unsanitary for someone to order, and go try to assemble it at a park for a meal. That's my hot take though as some people may very well just want a handroll on-the-go.

A friendly addition to the small shops near Yonge and Finch, Maki Mart offers fun and convenient grab-and-go maki rolls. Ranging from $1.95-8.95 each, they have a wide variety of raw, cooked, and vegetarian options. The portions are more snack-size and I would say that I would need to eat ~3-4 rolls to feel satisfied for lunch. The plastic packaging is designed well, with the rice separated from the seaweed until point of consumption so that the seaweed is kept crispy. The rice is fresh and even lasted one day overnight in the fridge. Each order comes with wasabi and soy sauce on the side. I've tried various rolls across their menu and the pricing tier system is fair - you get what you pay for. The premium ($4.95) rolls have been my favourite as I could really taste that they used good quality ingredients (fatty toro, hamachi, sea eel, lobster). The only roll that I wasn't a big fan of was the spicy salmon - the image in their menu make it look like there'd be diced chunks of salmon but instead, it was minced salmon paste. Just a personal preference. Overall, I think Maki Mart is an excellent option for whenever I feel snack-ish or if I'm just craving a small amount of Japanese food.

Takeout only place but it's great value. Simple healthy food I guess compared to a lot of other options out there. The toro was our favourite but everything was great quality. Staff was quick and friendly. Can't say much for decor as it's purely takeout but it's clean and efficient. Would recommend and go again for sure.

Tried out the newest location and it did not disappoint! The staff were so nice and helpful and the food was as good as expected! The uni roll was jam packed with uni and even had ikura in it. The fatty toro is melt in your mouth delicious and fresh! The scallop was good, and the salmon ikura is a definite must try. This location doesn't have a large of a drink selection and they don't have the canned fruits which is a bit of shame but the location is accessible by transit so still a win!

Heard about this from another Yelper, so decided to give this a try. I love sushi, but it can be a bit too much or it's not as convenient to eat on the go, so the size of this roll is perfect. They have a deal going where you get a small drink when you buy 3 of their hand rolls. With the unique premium rolls they have, it's hard not to get 3. I went an hour before closing, so there weren't much left, but still able to get Fatty Toro, Hamachi, and Spicy Salmon hand rolls. Although they all tasted really delicious, my favourite is the Spicy Salmon. The salmon tasted fairly fresh, but certainly love the flavour. Note: follow the instructions on how to assemble it. The rice and fish is separated from the seaweed when you buy it. I believe it's meant to keep the seaweed texture crispy. Essentially you want to take half the wrapper out so the seaweed is exposed. Put the sushi on top of the seaweed, and slide the rest of the seaweed out from the wrapper. Hope that helps. Enjoy!

Newly opened store offering takeout hand held maki rolls. They have another store in Markham but I'm glad they opened one closer to downtown Toronto. They're packaged so that the Nori stays crisp until you're ready to eat them. The store is small but offers a few counter seats but I would say it's more for takeout. I got a variety of rolls but would highly recommend their spicy salmon, salmon belly, and super uni rolls. The fatty toro was okay but I was hoping for more green onions since I expected it to taste more like a negi-toro handroll. I think there was also a labelling mistake on my salmon ikura roll since it did not have any ikura in it. But otherwise the rolls were delicious and the sushi rice was flavourful and soft. Right now they've got a few promotions going on so I got to try some free Japanese soup in a bottle (pumpkin and potato) that was complimentary if you buy 3 rolls. I'd say it's definitely worth a visit!

Great location for a grab n go service, right in the Yonge/Finch area! It's a small takeout style shop, note that theres no seating, just grab n go and the service is quick for this reason! They have a LARGE variety of rolls mostly in the $2-5 range, with a few at the $7 and $8 mark. They have a permanent "Buy 3 get 1 soup/drink free" deal & if you post on your story you also get a free roll. Be sure to take advantage of these promos! In regard to taste, I've tried over 10 of them now and my faves have to be the takowasabi, fatty toro, super golden uni, and spicy salmon!

Stuffed with crab salad, spicy tuna, and shrimp tempura it's a surprisingly hearty and creates enough flavours that it didn't taste too healthy. Pair the maki with an avocado salad ($9) and miso soup ($3) and you've got yourself a complete meal. I'm glad Issmi doesn't skimp on the avocado, there's plenty of it fanned across the simple green salad tossed with Issmi's sesame and soy house dressing. And while the miso soup wasn't overly exciting, it's also not an expensive add on, arriving nice and hot. There are also several sushi dishes that don't break the bank. The Matsu sushi ($25) contains a well stuffed dynamite roll that rival most in the neighbourhood and 10 pieces of nigiri. The nigiri was where Issmi falters a bit: the rice not seasoned enough and some of the fish felt a touch dry. Still, these are just slight nuances that could easily be overlooked.

This is a review for delivery:…read more Even then, I cautiously ordered the maki set B ($14.95) where the uncooked ingredient was limited to the salmon in the spicy salmon roll. In hindsight, there was so much tempura bits incorporated into the roll - on top and mixed with the salmon - that I had little to worry about with the raw fish. Tempura bits are such an oily condiment that can ruin the maki; after wiping off the bits on top, the roll tasted better. The dynamite roll was delicious incorporating a warm tempura shrimp, julienned cucumbers for crunch, avocado, and surimi. Given the rice wasn't too thick, all the ingredients really shone through creating a flavourful bite and the maki is large (10 pieces instead of the typical eight). Compared to everything else, this was the tastiest bite of the evening. Kibo's maki sets also arrive with soup and salad, fairly standard versions of the sides. Instead of diving into the soup, I should have taken the time to reheat it as lukewarm and grainy miso isn't the tastiest thing. At least the soup was flavourful and bits of fried dough were added in lieu of tofu - you won't get away from fried carbs at Kibo Sushi House! I was expecting the ebi siu mai ($6.95) to be a har gow shrimp filling in a siu mai wonton wrapper. Instead, the wrapper was filled with shrimp paste incorporating a lot of flour, so you're met with a mushy bite. I even pan fried them the next day to give it a crust and only marginally improved the starter.
