The texture is noticeably crispier, the flavour is richer, and it elevates the overall handroll experience while still being convenient for on-the-go eating. They've also added some new rolls to the menu, which looked promising. Super cute and small shop. The staff was super kind as they were mostly sold out of the handrollswhen we arrived. They also have a promotion where if you post on social media, you get a free handroll. They also gave us 2 free drinks for buying 6 handrolls! Each handroll was pretty affordable, majority were $3.95 each and I believe the vegetable filling ones were only $2.95. Some were a bit more depending on how premium the fillings are. Wow I'm so happy this place opened up. It honestly helps me settle so many cravings at once! For between $3-7, you can get yourself a delicious maki hand roll with a variety of filling options. We tried crab meat, seaweed salad, salmon ikura, salmon belly, fatty toro, and spicy salmon. First off, the packaging. I'm not a fan of so much plastic, but I do get the total genius of it all. It's similar to the triangle onigiri's if you've tried that before. Basically there's a specific way to open your roll which helps keep the seaweed away from the rice until you're ready to eat. Crispy seaweed every time. It's a dream. I think about 2-3 rolls would honestly be enough for me, but I could see someone devouring 5-6 easily if they're super hungry. The crab meat did not disappoint. I have always loved crab meat salad, and this was stuffed nicely. Salmon ikura and salmon belly were a bit oily, but still tasted good. The Fatty Toro had to be my favourite. It's more expensive of course, but it's really delicious. And they roll it up with some greens onions I think inside, so it tastes really nice. I was not a fan of the seaweed salad or spicy salmon. Seaweed salad was hard to bite, and spicy salmon was salmon with a chili oil. It was really messy and I didn't enjoy the flavour personally. But there are a TON of options to try so you're bound to find ones you will like. I hopefully will have time to get back and try the takowasabi one and other fish ones. Obsessed is an understatement. I love this place! I've been here a couple times already since they've opened and have enjoyed it every single visit. They sell individual hand rolls with lots of different variety of flavours. They also have rotating seasonal flavours like fatty salmon belly. You really never know which ones will be available the day of unless you go visit the store. They sell out pretty early with the popular rolls so make sure to go earlier in the day. It's a take out spot only with no seating. Here are the ones I've tried: Salmon Ikura 5/5 - One of my favourites. Chunky meats of salmon with the salty popping ikura makes for the perfect pairing. Hamachi 4/5 - Something was lacking here but not exactly sure what. Still good though. Mentaiko Scallop 3/5 - Thought I'd enjoy this more, but it was okay in taste. Spicy salmon 4/5 - Can never go wrong with spicy salmon. A staple. Fatty Toro 1/5 - Was most excited for this one, but a huge disappointment. Finally, I got to see what this place is all about! I went yesterday morning and arrived at 9:55 a.m. I waited in my car until 10, got out, and walked up to see the open sign is not on yet. I looked inside the store, and a gentleman was there. He saw me, so he switched on the sign and unlocked the door. I ended up with 15 maki rolls totaling around $80 & got 5 free drinks (per 3 roll). As I was paying, 3 other groups arrived. I sat in my car & decided to eat one. I didn't realize that the seaweed is separated, so there is some assembly required. The store front is small, as is the number of people it can hold inside, probably around 5-6 people. There are no tables you can sit at. It's grab and go. All the rolls I had were delicious! Finally, it got to my turn and I just went a little crazy, since they had a grand opening promo of 10% off until the end of August on top of if you buy 3 hand rolls you get a free soup/drink. I got 9 maki rolls, 3 soups and 10% off, the total came to around $39 and change. The maki roll prices range from $2.95-$4.95 so it can add up. Seaweed is separated from the actual rice roll and you just have to roll it up yourself which is quite fun once you get the hang of it. For example, the ratio in the spicy salmon was perfect but in the jumbo salmon, we could've used a little more fish. It was nice that they had several running promotions because I thought it was pretty expensive for what you get, even though it is affordable.
