I have been coming to Maki for a couple of years now. With that being said, I've seen this place in both good and bad times. We have waited up to an hour for sushi on busy Monday, Wednesday, and Friday's when they have all their rolls for $5.99...all the way till today which took less than 15 minutes. We have had the most horrible service (15 minutes to get our drinks, before we decided to just leave) and have now witnessed the progression to a more attentive wait staff. One thing that has remained is the taste of the sushi. It has always tasted fresh and delicious. I've been to 2 other sushi places and even tried the HEB sushi, but nothing beats the freshness of the rolls I get from here. I've been here a few times now. I'd recommend getting the Rainbow Roll on Mon, Wed, or Friday (all rolls are 5.99). I've tried some of their other menu items, and I've liked some more than others. The drawback is that their parking lot is tiny. But it's never been packed when I've dropped by during lunch 12-2pm. Once I got home I was very excited to try the sushi out and decided that I would have rather paid two more dollars to go to my usual spots. If you are tight for money and really want sushi then by all means go Monday, Wednesday, or Friday as there sushi is $5.99 on those days. WORST service in the world... They deserve the title lol... Have been here around 20 times already and still going because is the closest sushi to my house and IT IS really cheap and good sushi. But wow seriously the waiters are always in their world and the sushi will take a trip to London then come back to be in your table in like an hour and 20 minutes. Maki sushi is great if you have very little money, but still want pretty good sushi. It's better than HEBs sushi but kumori is still king imo. But like I said I rather have Maki's after drinking or for lunch because the quality/$$$ ratio is almost perfect. The ambiance is a bit too dim for me but the seats are comfortable. The bathroom is pretty clean and the majority of it has modern equipment. The Philadelphia roll and the spicy tuna we're pretty solid and really not to distinguishable from other sushi place but they're nagura roll was excellent and flavorful. While online they advertised a drink menu with cocktails and other things, in the restaurant they only offered me beer even when I asked. The service was great which is good considering one of the things I had heard coming in was that servers were unsatisfactory reflected by word of mouth and also some reviews already on Yelp.
