You have to remember that I am a food snob and used to travel for a living. I am convinced that you can not get good sushi in the Valley. Service was good. I had the Rainbow roll and spicy tuna. They did have a bogo offer which was nice. Sunomono salad was OK. No wasabi. No dish for soy sauce. Rainbow roll had warm'ish temperature salmon. This has happened at Yasuke also, not just here.?? Place was a bit warm.. seems they were having some issues with their AC... We had several dishes from the place and by far my favorite was the jalapeños fries. Its something different.. simple and delicious! Now I had the Earth Roll and it was alright .. now the part that suck.. was towards the end of my roll.. Why two stars? Inside the place is cute, it's welcoming and clean. The parking availability is good. Now for the food. The food isn't "nasty" it's not stale or old it's is definitely edible and even tastes pretty good. However, the quality of sushi and service is why I rated this spot a 2. Now I've only been once and everyone has an off day but, to have to give a rating on my experience. The rolls fell apart as soon as you picked them up, they were not made tight or correctly. Which to me if you eat a sushi roll and it falls apart before entering your mouth it's a fail. Second the service wasn't great. But the server was new and really trying so I'm not a jerk that can't be patient. So the 2 stars really is purely based on the quality of the sushi rolls that just wasn't to par. read more

This place is a little more hit than miss for me...plus if reading this review keep in mind I usually eat the same plate all the time. I have yet to try their sushi...so I won't opine on it. I will opine only on what I eat obviously. The one appetizer I always get are their pork egg rolls. This night it came out fresh and hot...the right amount of crisp on it. The sweet and sour sauce is par for the course...I won't say who but there's other places with a slightly better version but still tasty. Sweetness with a little bit of tang...perfect combination. I always get the shrimp and chicken tempura. This place is hit and miss...this night (maybe because we ate there) the plates came out with a beautiful presentation of the meal. However, they don't always get the same love as that night. The shrimp batter was nicely fried with good consistency... It wasn't falling off. The shrimp and chicken had the perfect cook on it...grab a little bit of avocado and the cream cheese with the shrimp...dynamite However...ask for it to go? Not so much love...nor attention to detail. The flavors are all there...but the batter was a little less consistent and no attention paid to the presentation. Some days it's great, some days not so great. For example, the first time I went the service and food excellent. I think our servers name was Cynthia. The second time, about 3 weeks ago, was a pretty bad experience. I think the server was new but poorly trained. They need to work on educating their staff and teach them how to use the register and wait on tables with kindness and properly. I can go on about some other things... but just won't. This is an update...my 2nd visit like I said I would do for an overall rating. Again what really separate this place to other sushi places is the excellent customer service. Friendly and just enough check ups. I ordered a pot of hot tea and the waiter even offer to pour me a cup!! He was the same guy from our 1st visit so I was very pleased the same service was the same. Another lady was also helping look over our table since it was 12+ ppl and she was extremely nice. I also ordered a a custom cucumber roll to see how it turned out. My last visit I noted the cucumber was a bit thick, this time it seem they took notes and made the cut more thin Now the sushi...ordered well over 10+ rolls and was pleased. Not the best I've had but worth coming back. Few highlight rolls were the roppongu, godzilla, and dragonroll. But there are a few things I like to suggest...keeping the rolls the way they are, but cut them smaller yielding let say 8-10 pieces vs 6-8...makes it easier to pick up and eat. The rolls could use some extra special sauces to drizzle over for extra color and flavor. The bowls I seem still lacks alot. This time the ratio of rice to sushi was like 5-1...yes there alot if veggies, but doesn't cut it for me. When I have like 3/4 of rice left and nothing else. Great service from the waiters, but owners...ehhh. seems like they too good to acknowledge customers even dropping $200 and making it about 50% of their daily sales at that time. The restaurant needs a thorough deep cleaning. Every part of the place is dirty. Bar area was cluttered, Sushi bar Glass had streaks, and finder prints all over. A cleaning cart was located right next to the food prep area. The cashier/waitress was eating and drinking as she worked very unprofessional! All while she was texting on phone as she handled food. I kept a close eye on my food prep luckily it was handled correctly. Sriracha sauce, and soy sauce are in after containers that are old, dirty and have multiple stickers on them. Making them look very unpleasant. Young waiter was very nice and provided good customer service. Once the food got to me ( that I closely watched be made) it was presentable and well served. Now I've never been particularly fond of this place. But I'd still eat here every now and then (usually delivery). But today, I had a late workout at the gym nearby and decided to try my luck. I went with my boyfriend and his sister. We were greeted by the server, he seemed nice, everything was going smooth. That is, until we started waiting for our order. It took 20 minutes just to receive a tiny 2piece salmon appetizer which was $6! After awhile my boyfriend got fed up with the wait and went to go speak to the server. Keep in mind that there was barely anybody eating at the restaurant (2 other tables) and there were 3 to 4 sushi chefs. Oh yeah, and they ran out of tuna. Like seriously? You ran out of tuna on a Saturday at 3 pm...that's so weak. So we finally get our food. We all got sushi burritos. There was barely any fish, like there was maybe 1 to 2 sashimi sized pieces in the whole burrito. It was mostly rice wrapped in seaweed for $11. So we waited 45minutes to get rice wrapped in seaweed. RICE WRAPPED IN SEAWEED. My boyfriend complained about the burritos and the server argued with him but it was clear he didn't know what was going on. The manager eventually came and gave us 15% off so instead of paying $30 for two orders of rice wrapped in seaweed and a couple pieces of salmon we payed $27. In conclusion, this place is pathetic, overpriced, gimmicky, and a bad representation of sushi. Steer clear of this place. Probably the best tasting sushi in the valley. So why the one star? The staff, the owner, the service. It's a restaurant ruined by the people who own and work there. At full capacity, you can justify slow service but at a quarter full, it's ridiculous to have to wait 25 minutes for water and 1 hour for a bowl of sashimi. This is a small restaurant where you can see the workers prepare your food. You can literally see them mess up orders, walk around the bar confused, hold order tickets in their hands and not put in orders. The scary part is that it's not just the waiters who have a look of confusion in their eyes but the also manager and the owner have that look of profound confusion that makes me wonder if this is their first time ever working in a restaurant. Look, I'm being brutal here but this restaurant just fills me with a deep sense of disappointment and despair. The restaurant has delicious food, sushi that actually taste fresh, a great location, a cool hip setting, and even the music is great. But wow a big DISAPPOINTMENT with the people. They ruin it so well that it's very off putting. I went here 3 times, THREE TIMES! And in all those 3 times, I got 3 different excuses of why their service was horrendous. Thanks but no thanks, I came for sushi not excuses. The third time I was there, had two people sit next to me in the bar. Both were at the restaurant to pick up food that was ordered via phone. Both ordered an hour before getting there and both came in to find that the staff haven't even begun making the food that was ordered an hour before. Basically I'm saying give me Kumori service if you are going to try to replicate Kumori. The rolls are cut way too thick. My daughter got a Fiji and it was fried thick with tempura all around. It looked like a chicken breast before they sliced it. Stay away from the fried rice, it's bad. They have no business making fried rice. The miso soup was good but I had to pay for it. Today I ordered a Special Philadelphia Roll and as if they didn't know the difference I received a philadelphia roll. I didn't even bother asking them if they could make up for the mistake because the last time I did that the cook told the manager to tell me that the only way he would redo my order (which they had messed up on) was if I paid for it!
