There wasn't much selection of meat, vegetables and other. I got the broth and my brother ordered a dry pot. They weigh your food so you pay by the pound. My bowl ended up being $22 and my brother's $25. It seems pricy for what it is. We both had proper malatang in China. Mala land just didn't impress.

I love how you get to customize your soup with all the fresh toppings they prepare. Service is quick and this is such a fun way to get ramen with friends/family.

Wow this place is amazing! Nice and clean inside. Service is speedy. I thought mala tang is nothing special but this place makes it taste so good!! Also added some variety into the menu with things like mala ban, which is non soupy and a sesame base. Also tried a mala tang (no pic) and the soup was so tasty. Would totally return. Price very reasonable too. Heard good things about their skewers. Hope they keep on coming up with new things.

So I don't dislike this place, but I want to see more. The hot pot soup was not bad at all, I did like it. However, they charge you by the pound for your food. 15$ per pound. It's not too bad, but if you're not paying bc attention it can add up. The chicken wings were mid in my opinion. The wings were cooked well, but my sauce tasted grainy. Like it wasn't mixed well or it was the flour from the chicken. I got the sweet and spicy sauce. The flavor was good, but the grainy texture threw me off. The Chinese donuts were probably my favorite thing they had to offer. I'd come back just to order these. I wish they had more variety to choice from. Not a big variety of meat or veggies. Overall I would definitely come back because the soup was good.

This is a must try restaurant in Novi. You can choose the ingredients for your bowl from the food bar. There are lots of traditional Chinese vegetables, tofu, and noodles to choose from along with beef, sausage, and spam. The food is deliciously spicy! Spicy level 2 is tongue numbing. I have not tried spicy level 3 yet. Casual and fun Mala Land is one of the best Chinese restaurants in the area.

This is a newer restaurant in Novi and it was worth the drive. I really enjoy the make your own bowl and it is not too spicy. I got the level 2 and it was perfect. The service was good and there is good seating . Great for friends and family. I would recommend this place. Super worth!

A great addition to the Novi food scene! TLDR; Great food. Ambiance was fine. Waited longer than we wanted to for our food. Service is meh. This was our first experience with Malatang cuisine. You're provided a large bowl and a buffet of ingredients you'd like for your food. There are some selections that were good enough to make yourself a filling bowl of food, though the layout of the buffet makes it a bit awkward, and no more than two people can realistically pick out food at a time. First-Timer Tip: You'll be given the option to add rice on the side or udon noodles to your bowl for an additional $1.99. I made the mistake of preemptively adding rice noodles to my bowl and then adding udon. Given the chance to redo it, I'd have cut out the rice noodles and just gone with the udon. After placing your order, they give you a number and you're free to seat yourself. The space is pretty minimal, and you're expected to bus your own table. This feels like something they could redo in coming year with some financial success under their belt. But from the time we paid for our order to the time it was ready, the wait took 35 minutes. It's something to be aware of that this is not a quick place to grab a bite. My husband ordered the Level 2 spice Mala Tang Soup... he made a mistake. He likes things with a decent amount of heat, but he deeply regretted not starting off at 1. I ordered a Level 0/No Spice for my Mala Tang Soup but stole a ladle full of his broth and added it to my own. That brought my soup to the exact threshold of my wimpy spice tolerance. But it was oh so very tasty. I teetered on 3 stars simply because the service was slow, the layout of the buffet was a bit awkward, and there were plenty of people waiting for clean tongs that the kitchen couldn't get out fast enough. But the food! The food was very tasty and rewarding. So brace yourself when you come here. It takes a little bit of patience, but I had a great time!

    Leftovers tasted even better

Came to Mala land on Valentine's Day with my wife and two children , everyone loved it ! The hot pot was so tasty and while expensive it's like 2 meals . The fried chicken is the best I've had , will definitely be going back to try the other menu items . Service was quick and everyone is friendly .

Talk about a meant to be situation. I'm over at the car dealership, dealing with a tire situation. It's taking forever. I'm starving. I say eh, let's see what this place is all about. I go in to pick up my order and the nice lady from the back comes out all excited. She thought I was going to be her brother in law! Same name. She explains that she did my dish up extra special, as she thought I was family. Free dessert, allll the fixsins. I figure I gotta eat this inside now, so I can really take it all in. Whattt a flavorrr. Ohh man. Every bite. Woooweee! Best dish I've eaten in a minute. Left nothin but the remaining sauce. Even used chopsticks! I was all in. 10/10 100% experience! The employees were all super sweet too. If you're in the area, get in there and try the Malaban. Try the desserts. Try it all. So frigin good!!!

SO GOOD. I got Mala Tang spicy level 1 and it's so good. I went over 1 lb but honestly for all the food I picked it's so worth the price. I'd come back every time when I'm in town.

First time here and I ordered the soup. The broth had a different smell...sort of like a cleaning solution. The broth ruined my soup I wasn't a fan of it at all. The sausage they have is a weird texture and taste. The one very good thing is the sweet and spicy popcorn chicken!! That was absolutely delicious! Service was excellent!!

Finally got to try this place! I was so excited when I found out there was a mala restaurant nearby that does dry pot, but the reviews for the soup version were so glowing I had to try it first. The self-serve ingredients were all fresh, and they had a decent selection. Our wait time for a to go order was around 10 minutes. The soup is so flavorful, and the spice level of 2 was perfect for me (kind of a strong mild or light medium). Service was quick and friendly, and the place looked very clean! Will definitely be coming back to this place soon to try the dry pot!

Absolutely delicious!…read more We got pho from here atleast 3 times while staying in the Farmington hills area, but every time was to-go, so I don't have any comments on the restaurant interior or service. The broth was served separate from everything else. It comes with cilantro, onions, hoisin (?) sauce, noodles, meat, basil leaves, jalapeño, bean sprouts, lime, spoon and knife, chopsticks, and a napkin! The noodles were always cold and stuck together when we finally got to sit down and eat, but I attribute that to ordering to-go and having to drive back to the hotel. I will miss this pho place so much!!!! Absolutely delicious and filling!!!!

I really enjoyed the chicken pho, super pleasant broth with good depth of flavor. My dining companion ordered the beef pho, P6. Really deep and flavorful broth. I love adding the condiments and making each bowl your own. Of course, we ordered an abundance of spring rolls and they are so good! Crispy, chick full of ingredients and flavor. The dipping sauce is also delicious! They continue to work on sprucing up the place and they changed some of the facades and it looks nice! Lots of added color and finishes. The service is consistently pleasant and the food arrives quickly.

It's a place you'd never know about unless you drove by it or saw it recommended somewhere because people have almost never talked about it. The sandwiches range from unappetizing to great. Plenty of types to choose from and some unique options. Nothing nearly as groundbreaking as the theming implies, but far more interesting and quality than many other sandwich and sub places. Cranberry sauce on a sandwich was not invented here, but you won't find it anywhere else in the area. The salads used to be cold and unimpressive, but they've actually improved significantly. The chicken is bad and basically inedible, but that's true at almost every place of this caliber. For a few bucks more you get something way better and more appetizing than what you could at a Subway or Jimmy Johns. It's a step or two above Panera Bread. The shop is very spacious and large with a lot of cool decor and arrangements, but with the hours you'd never come here to eat in. They used to be open on Saturdays (and would sometimes hang up on you) but have cut their narrow times to basically nothing. Carryouts couldn't be more convenient. There'll be a brown bag with your name on it to the left of the counter. Online ordering is great. Location: 4* Convenience: 4* Service: 2* Product/quality: 3* Aesthetics: 4*

I figured that this place would have the same quality and service as Nordstrom. I was correct. You do order at a counter and seat yourself in the dining room but the wait staff takes it from there. Comfortable seating and rich decor with lots of natural light. Friendly Service that checks on you and get refills as needed. Since I am a light eater, I was happy that I could order from the kids menu. I ordered grilled cheese and tomato soup. Off the adult menu I added 2 cheddar chive biscuits taking one home. My meal came with fruit dish and a drink. I got a diet Coke which they have in fountain form. The food is well above average. Grilled cheese was on artisan bread. Soup was perfect with it. The cheddar chive biscuits are delicious. I didn't see a dessert menu but was too full so the bit size chocolate at the end of the meal was perfect. If you have a normal American appetite, the adult menu of appetizers, soups, salads, pizza and entrees will be perfect. The pizza can be shared. I look forward to coming back with a couple of girlfriends to introduce them to this gem.

The service and food were 5 stars. I was greeted immediately (although it would be hard not to be--…read morethe interior is small, and the welcome desk is immediately to your right when you walk in.) The menu is strong but limited, which I kind of like- limits decision fatigue, especially after a long day. I ordered the nigiri combo, for the cause. Nigiri is something I've only really gotten into this year, so I'm not an expert, but I know what I like and what I don't. Soft, sticky rice that feels fresh and adhesive but not clumpy, fresh smelling and looking fish. The California roll was a California roll. The nigiri was great however. The shrimp in particular was light and almost creamy tasting? I know that sounds odd but I mean it in a good way. The rest of the fish was good. I even tried eel (this is big for me) for the cause! It was rich and fatty, but not in an unpleasant way as I feared. It was pleasantly sauced, so I was able to try it sans soy sauce and was pleased! I *really* liked the soy sauce here, although they don't give you very much. They also are a bit stingy with the ginger. This was my first time trying tamago, which is a delicately sweetened egg roll stuffed with rice. If you're not used to it, you have to get over the look and just go for it! It's yummy! The restroom was clean but smelled faintly of cigarettes. To be honest... I didn't mind that. It kind of fit with the vibe and gave the restaurant a "real" "edgy" feel, although some people may not appreciate it. The interior is kind of messy and unkempt, but if you keep your eyes on the prize- the food- you'll leave happy!
