The seating is very comfortable; plenty of room Concessions are hit or miss: candy and popcorn are fine (although I didn't see the butter topping dispenser on my side of the lobby); the hot dog was a total ripoff. The bun was as hard as a rock, and the hot dog itself was mediocre. Don't waste your money. Staff: another mixed bag; ticket seller and ticket taker were pleasant; first person at concession stand looked like I disrupted her whole day by ordering food; second person was much more pleasant. I strolled into Malco Paradiso Theater last night and the neon lights in the lobby was practically winking at me. We saw Sinners and the actors really poured their hearts out, but the storyline kept me guessing more than a riddle in a puzzle box. Those plush seats felt like eating marshmallows, although my soda nearly took a dive when that cupholder wobbled. The screen was ginormous and crystal clear, but every time the bass hit it sounded like someone threw pebbles at a tin can. I bought a tub of popcorn that smelled like butter paradise, but whoa it was so salty i thought i'd turn into a pretzel myself. The crew seemed friendly enough, but they lollygagged at the ticket kiosk like time was on vacation and we almost missed the opening scene. They rammed us with trailer after trailer until i felt like i'd lived a hundred action movies in a single sitting. Despite all that, it was a riot of a night and i can't wait to go back--next time i'll show up early to bask in those neon vibes without the rush. read more

This has been modernized quite a while now - most seats recline and are spaced as far from the former type of seating as possible. It makes for a pleasant viewing experience. You have the same junk food options, but also a grill (not sure of the hours, or if they deliver inside the theater). Prices are more expensive as a result, but that's par for the course nowadays. You can now reserve a seat - especially recommended for those popular movies (The downside is there is a charge for on-line tickets, a ridiculous policy IMHO). Malco eliminated the cheapie theater ("up" to about $3 before the pandemic), but take advantage of the Tuesday showings - considerably cheaper. read more

I am not sure if I just hadn't been to them movies in a while or I just don't remember the recliner chairs. But, I must really enjoyed them for me to start my review of this way, lol! I really enjoy my experiences here at Paradiso. It is spacious, the staff is always friendly, and the price points are ok considering the average movie cost. Also, the theater is always clean and presentable. They have hot food or the traditional "movie food" that movie goers love. I had the popcorn, drink, and candy combo. Hubby had the nachos and drink combo (of course we shared)! FYI, they have IMAX theatre and a party room available. read more

I wish I could give this company zero stars. Their policy of disallowing people under 17 to see R-rated films after 6pm (even if accompanied by their parents) is ridiculous and bigoted. Real cinema companies like Regal and AMC don't do this, and I hope Malco gets acquired by one of them soon. Memphis deserves a better class of movie theater. read more

This is one of the best movie theaters in Memphis. This is where I go to see most of my movies. I have never had a problem here. The seats are always clean and the movie projectors are good quality. This is the nicest Malco next to Studio on the Square offering a small selection of beer and wine along with a limited selection of non concessional foods. I find the matinee & evening ticket movie prices to be quite pricey compared to its other locations. The biggest attraction to me for this Malco is the IMAX screen. Sure it does cost more to see a movie on the IMAX. But it is well worth it depending on what movie you see. I happened to have enjoyed watching the Meg on this screen. The effects of seeing a larger than life Megalodon swimming across a huge screen I found to be quite exciting. To give you an idea of the screens visual effect. Each movie is beautifully projected Crisply and beautifully clear with HD DLP (Digital Light processing) & beautifully surround sounded THX. Which brings your IMAX movie experience to life like any other. I've seen movies here in the past on standard screens in the past in 3D or standard projection. I don't ever come here to see movies unless it's IMAX as I find matinee & evening prices for standard screen too much. When I arrived with family for our movie, the main parking lot enterance gate was locked. Very confusing to figure out how to get into the parking lot. It affected getting to our movie on time. When trying to figure out how to get in the main enterance and having to get out of my car to open up the main entrance, the security gaurd approached me and said "we always keep it locked." This isn't true since I've been to literally 50+ movies at this venue. Talked to a manager at Malco at 3:12pm on 6/1/23 and was told, "well we always keep that entrance closed and we have alternate entrances to come in because of break ins". This was a Thursday at 3pm. Another reason Memphis isn't a great place to take kids and family downtown. Funny thing is, I love downtown Memphis and live on South Main. Maybe not for long now tho. Malco can't hire security to do their jobs so they just lock their enterance and sit in their cars and keep customers confused and late for their movies they paid for. When approached as to why the MAIN entrance was locked, they look at you like you have done something wrong and can't give you an actual explanation as to why they can have "3 other alternate enterances available" but can't tell you why they lock the MAIN ENTERANCE. I'm literally not surprised at this point. This is Memphis. read more

Absolutely love this place. I've been going since it opened. The food service has improved (thank goodness)- the first time we went it was going to be greater than 1hr, who goes to the theater food for dinner to wait for service for more than 1 hr?! The manager apologized and helped us get a refund so we didn't miss our film. It has improved since then. read more

We needed 14 seats in a row and found seats available at this theater. We purchased tickets online for the Spiderman movie. It is right across the street from the Whole Foods grocery store. We printed our tickets and sat in our reserved seats. No one in my party purchased from the concession stand but it looked like they had a decent selection. These seats are the comfortable reclining seats. The sound was excellent. Overall, it was a clean theater. We enjoyed watching our movie at this theater. read more

Sadly this use to be the nicest theater in Memphis but now it's stuck in time, run down, smells like urine in the 2 rooms we've been in. Almost every other major city has VIP theaters now and certainly has competition with a variety of brands to choose from such as, AMC, Cinemark, Regal, Studio Movie Grill, iPic, Movie House, Cobb, Rave... Just to name a few most of which have reservation reclining seats for the same price I pay to step back in time here in Memphis to ancient run down theaters that are 15-35+ years old. Paradiso hasn't been renovated since it opened in like 2004 I believe. What's up Memphis? Why does every other city have choices but Memphis is held hostage by a movie company that is old and out of touch. They're website is the worst I've ever seen. It's awful and they don't have an app?? Insane I visited some family last Christmas and saw a sign for yet another malco headed out to Fayette, the signs been there for at least two years saying new theater coming, still nothing... Other cities renovate and pop up new theaters in a few months. It's called competition, it's healthy and needed. I'm in shock that you guys don't demand more. The only time I have to go to am old traditional movie theater is when I'm in a small town and when I visit family in Memphis. You connect the dots... I'd give it zero stars if I could. VIP theaters explained: They Range from having amazing food bright to you by servers throughout the movie you can buzz them for a refill or something else on the menu. Or they offer higher end food you pick up on your way to your seat which is always a big comfortable recliner. The seats are always reservation regardless if you book online or just walk in, you pick your seat and it's yours. No more showing up wondering if you'll be on the first row or smashed in the middle with no room. Memphis! You need to stop being a small town stuck in the 90's !!! read more

I come here when I want to treat myself. It costs the same as the one near home minus gas fees to get there.It's basically my special occasions/spoil-yourself theater. It doesn't even feel like a movie theater. You walk in the front door and the first thing you see is a giant, gorgeous fountain. The decor inside makes it feel like it's an outside town square. A beautiful one at that. I adore just walking inside and looking around. I took hubby here for Valentine's Day to see the most recent Die Hard movie. It was fantastic. read more

Love this theatre! It's definitely one of the best in Memphis, probably the best I've been to in the city honestly. My first IMAX experience was here for Black Panther and it was amazing ! Can't wait to see Captain Marvel and Avengers 4 in IMAX at this location! I've never tried anything major with the food even though this place is advertised as a "grill". The margaritas are decent..won't be buying again and the wine is decently priced, some seem a little overly priced but..yeah. We had a blast. Even though it was cold and icy, and our favorite restaurant was closed, the Paradiso delivered. The B.O.U.G.I.E. club hosted its first movie night, to see Hidden Figures. Our turnout was low due to the weather, but our popcorn was fresh and the staff was pleasant. They even took our group picture for us. The Paradiso is pricier than the other theaters, however the experience and the ambiance it provides justifies the price. I will admit I am a coin saver so I often opt for the theater closer to my house. But when I really want an experience and can afford it this is my go to place. read more

Overall the movie theatre is nice for what one might expect to find in Memphis. Compared to other cities, it would be average. It is nothing in comparison to Studio Movie Grill that we have in Atlanta. They do have ticket kiosk systems, which makes purchasing tickets easier. The popcorn here is okay, but it is overly salty (to make customers buy soft drinks). Expect to pay $11 to see a movie for an adult and $9.50 for children. I see a lot of movies, and the Paradiso is definitely my favorite place to watch them, especially the big epic or actions movies. They offer digital sound, an extra wide, 50 foot tall screen, and speakers in the front, back and ceiling. So the sound is awesome! Additionally, they have really comfortable chairs that lean back, arm rests and cup holders and stadium seating. And you can order your tickets online and pick them up there. This is a great feature when a really popular movie comes out. I hate getting to the theater, only to find the movie I am dying to see is sold out. read more

Tonight me and my girlfriend went to the 7:50 showing of Avatar 2 in 3d in Dolby atmos theatre. The movie blacked out 3 times in the middle of the movie and they had to back the movie up each time, then it happened a 4th time in which the movie staff came in and said we could have a refund or ticket voucher but that's only if we didn't stay to finish the movie. So we wasted an extra hour of time during a 3 hour movie just to be told "deal with it or leave and get a refund" . When they finally got the movie back working it was no longer in 3d and only worked for 5 minutes before freezing again. I understand technical issues but the way the staff went about solving it was unacceptable. We left after the 5th freeze and now I will have to go find another theatre and rewatch the first half just to see what we missed. read more
