Not sure I understand the low rating. I reviewed the most recent, going back to 2022 and with one exception, all were higher that the average. So, I'm guessing that these were all/mostly pre-renovation, when they updated to the reclining seats. Other than the prices, I can't see significant problems with this location. The pop/soda is self-serve, speeding up service, though I think the butter used to be and no longer is - would like a rerun to that. The location is in a safe area and the ambiance is comfortable. They could use more concession stand clerks, but I suppose that's a complaint we could level against most places. read more

The new renovations make it almost like a new theater. They b haven't opened the grill yet, so there is still construction going on. The candy offerings are limited but once the grill opens That won't matter much. They have the fully reclining seats. There is plenty of room to walk when you are in the fully reclined position. Its been a while since I've visited this location. It was really packed today. Thankfully I pre purchased my ticket online so I was able tonavoid the long lines. Concession has the basics. There gourmet food and bar area is currently still in the works to open in the near future. This location did undergo prior renovations. The seats are plush and recline, which I love. read more

Me and my family got to this one twice a week and for the most part like it but I saw tonight the sign says they will soon not be taking cash. If that is implemented we will no longer be going to malco. Not accepting United States fiat currency inside the United States is not acceptable. Recently saw the new Dr. Strange movie at this theater. Was initially skeptical that we had chosen a poor spot. The theater is obviously old and the lobby doesn't do much to hide that. It felt cluttered and unclean. The snack bar looked bare to the bone and not well stocked but I was surprised to find that they did have some great snack options. Traditional candy, soda, popcorn as well as nachos, hot dogs, funnel cake fries (which I didn't try) and an off brand dip n dots machine. The concessions prices were still movie theater prices ( i.e higher than anything you'd pay somewhere else) but compared to other theaters it wasn't egregious. The theater itself was actually VERY nice which I was NOT expecting after the lobby. I believe they may have remodeled because the layout of the seats didn't match what I purchased on Fandango. (I though I was buying tickets in the middle based off the online diagram, but the actual seats I bought were in the last row. Needs updated online!) Fancy reclining seats and a small theater with a small capacity which I actually find nice. We saw a big movie on the second day of its release in the afternoon and the small theater was still far from full which I didn't mind at all. No lines! Bathrooms were moderately clean. All in all I would come back. I do hope they update their seat layout online and remodel the lobby to match the nice theater. read more

Hubby and I go to the movies once or twice a month . This theater has been redone ( it was ok beforehand ) but the chairs are super comfy and I loooove the popcorn and cokes . You can't go to a movie without popcorn . Very nice people selling tickets and concession workers are top notch . Restrooms are always clean and stocked well. My friends and I wanted to watch a movie together so we met up at this location. It was a great midpoint for us because we both lived in the Cordova and Germantown area. Pros: They play all of the new films, again it's a great location, and from what little interaction I had, the staff was nice. Cons: This is an old theatre and it's not the cleanest. I can tell because the floors were sticky and it made noise every time I moved my foot. Lastly, the seats are not comfortable at all. During my two hour long movie, no matter what position I sat, I could not get comfortable. My arm rest was broken as well. I think it's long due for a remodel. I was at this Malco Theater as had got comp tickets to a first night screening of Star Wars Rogue One. Some good things about this theater is the enormous amount of parking available- easy to get a car spot. Also pretty comfy seats in the theater and the salt on their popcorn wasn't overtly chemically. But our theater only had one exit which I found to be a choke point from folks using that same passage for both entry and exit. The one thing I wouldn't see here again is a 3D movie as the glasses hurt. I had a scar on my nose from the pressure and at a few times during the movie, I did remove the glasses to relieve the pressure on my nose. This is one of the closest to Lakeland so it is the one I visit when alone. My husband likes Paradiso better. I go in the afternoon when it is a bit cheaper but try to stay away from the overpriced popcorn and pop. I buy VIP tickets at AAA down the street. Always clean, nice staff, and usually pretty empty mid week. read more

This is the closest theater to our home - by far - so we end up here by default. It has never been what you would call clean, but the last few times we have gone, the urine smell has been really strong inside the theaters. Last night we were in Theater 5, and the urine fumes were so strong, it made my eyes water. We are going to try other theaters farther out to see if those patrons are a bit more couth. If you're going to Cordova Malco, try to find a gas mask. You'll need it! read more

I'm a fan of the Malco theaters and the drive-in. I rarely have a problem with any of them, and this theater is no exception. Very comfortable, with stadium seating -- and the seats themselves are nice and comfy. Weird thing is that I can get a $4.50 matinee up north and this is $6.50. read more

Absolute worst service I've ever experienced at a movie theatre. Staff on their phones as soon as you walk in not paying attention to the customer. Staff behind the concessions goofing off and joking around with each other than focusing on the customer. It is very clear they don't want to be working there or care and after this experience it is very clear to me to never come back here again. This theatre is alright until Malco finally builds the promised theatre at near highway 64 and Canada Road. This current location is a monument to the time before the success of Netflix, Hulu, and RedBox. Matinee tickets will run you about $8 and you'll spend quite a bit on refreshments as well. The seats are comfy and the theatre is relatively clean. The location is excellent; there are MANY restaurants within a short distance, so this spot is my prime "dinner-and-a-movie" date night theatre. However, this location gets quite crowded at night and on weekends, so go before your hangover expires on Saturday or Sunday and you should be good. read more

I've been here many times since I was a teen. Prices are ridiculous (I saw Hangover 3 a couple of days ago in the afternoon, and I believe my ticket cost around $7.75), but hey, what can you do? Ugh. Out of all the Malcos I go to, this one is my least favourite. It's always so crowded (I don't even bother with Paradiso anymore which is even worse) and compared to other Malcos, not even that great. I only come to this particular Malco because of its convenience: I live in Cordova. The food is terrible. Don't even bother with the popcorn, it will taste stale no matter what. Just do what everyone else does and what multiple tips on here have already suggested: go to Walgreens first and sneak food in. You'll pay less (which is saying something since Walgreens is so overpriced) and get more variety. The staff never check bags so you'll be fine. If you are wanting to actually eat food at the movies though, I suggest Studio at the Square or Ridgeway. They're both Malco Cinemas, but they serve more than just popcorn, nachos, and hot dogs, not to mention the food actually tastes decent. The cinemas themselves are your standard ones these days. The seats recline, decent sound and picture quality. But again, if you're wanting an amazing experience (for the same ticket price, to boot) check out Ridgeway. This location is under poor supervision; there have been plenty of times where I buy a ticket and have no one to show it to; I could have easily walked in for free. I've never done this, but I'm certain lots of people have. On some occasions, the screens have been crooked or discolored, and the issue is not fixed right away, but until the previews are finished movie has long started playing. I never buy snacks from this location. No one looks clean. But I go here because it's only 5 minutes away. read more

Outdated and still charging $11/ adult on a weekday night. For the past 10+ years it's been the same theater experience. The only silver lining is that its employees are extremely gracious. My wife decided to go out for a dinner + movie date night with the family. We decided to go see the movie Sing. My lil boy was great during dinner but he had enough afterwards. He couldn't stop crying and running around the back of the theater. So I decided to take him out to try to calm him down. He and I would leave, he would calm down and then we would return. He would do alright for 5 mins and then its waterworks again. Even thought there were only 2 other families there, I didn't want to cont to bother them so i decided to take him out for good while my wife and daughter enjoyed the movie. I asked if I could get my money back to which the manager said that she would and gave me a free voucher to any future movie. I thought that was very nice of her. She could have easily has said no and I would have understood. All in all, I would suggest that they keep the employees but update the place. Way too many dirty floors and outdated/ broken stuff to be a Malco. They would need to update/ fix to stay open. Otherwise it's going to be another blockbuster. read more

I wish that Memphis had competition for decent theaters. We don't and so we have Malco. The Cordova Malco is my favorite because it on my side of town and it is rarely crowded. At the Paradiso Malco you have to show up pretty early for a movie to get a good seat, but at Cordova you can just saunter on in at five minutes till and skip the majority of the commercials. The concession and ticket prices are out of control, but I am a movie addict so will continue to pay. I do have to say that this would be a four star review except for one big problem: during the summer, the theaters are ovens. They do not run the air conditioning like they should, and I found out from someone who worked there that when the manager goes home he turns off the a/c unit for the theaters. I knew there had to be a reason that going to see late movies was a miserably hot experience. There is no excuse for this kind of behavior, we are paying so much money for the movie experience we should at least be comfortable. read more

I've got no problem with the movies, but my issue is the cost. I know this isn't a Malco thing, it's around the country issue. The prices of movies are crazy. Malco have lessened their food quantity and increased the prices. That's not cool. This is the closest theater to our home. We just moved to the area and this theater is so run down! The theater itself smells old and musty but the concession was terrible! Flat sodas, cold popcorn and expired candy! When I went to return my candy the person behind the counter said he had to call the manager to ask him if he could exchange it! What? Why? So I had to wait 5 min (while movie was running) to see if the manager would exchange my candy since it was opened and I had taken a bite. We won't be going back. read more

Nice, newer clean theater with new releases. There is a nice party room that is good for kid's parties. One of my favorite spots for movie parties. The theaters have the big stadium chairs with the curved screens. It always seem colder here than other area theaters so bring a jacket! read more
