I initially requested an appt 2 weeks in advance and was advised via email that Dr Perry's office would respond shortly. Tried to call to verify around a week before the requested date, only to be asked for info that I had already supplied. There is no way to reach anyone via phone, and they are slow to text back via the advised way to "quickly" reach someone. I was going to transfer from another doctor, but due to this experience, I am exploring my options with other Urologists in the local area. I am very upset with the care from Dr. Perry and his office. I have attempted to make an appointment with him for multiple months, but I am unable to get in touch with anyone from his office. When leaving a voicemail, their business hours are listed, but I have never had anyone answer the phone during this time. At my last appointment with Dr. Perry, I was only seen for 5-10 minutes after driving for 2.5 hours to make it to the appointment. He left the room while I was still asking questions, and he walked to another room to see a patient next door. I asked the front desk if I could still speak with him in person, and they said he would call me after his appointments for the day. I went with my husband and he barely asked anything, didn't have the test results and spoke about himself, his father, the lab company he doesn't like and everything except for the patient in front of him. I was a past patient of Dr. Perry many years ago and when I needed a Urologist again, of course attempted to revisit him only to be put off multiple times just like a previous review. I scheduled appointments online (as it is the only way to do so) with no response. I even went up to the office to find out why I wasn't getting a response when I was supposed to have an appointment scheduled for the following day. They told me they were having a hard time verifying my insurance, but no one ever called me with this information and told me that they would get back with me and of course they never did. The only way I could actually speak to someone is to physically go up to their office and then was told that someone would get back with me. There was never any follow up and I am truly disappointed. I have wasted weeks of my time. I will be obviously looking for a new doctor, which is a terrible shame because I already had a rapport with him from years past. I made an online appointment with Dr. Perry's office and scheduled it using their website. I got an email back saying they would confirm my appointment. I waited and waited and never received anything from his office. I then started calling his office to confirm the appointment I made online. You only get a voicemail when you call his office, and it says to send a text to a given number. I texted them on one day during office hours and no response. I texted them the next day and still no response. This is very unprofessional, and I can't figure out why they would have any patients operating an office this way. I booked Dr Perry for my husband because of positive reviews and D doctor titles, but only disappointments came one after another. I should have heeded the red flag which is the office using text msgs instead of calls, an approach that can help them dismiss "bothersome" patients easily. Dr Perry used a strategy to make money out of my husband by having him do as many tests and appointments as possible. The doctor had ordered 3 scans including 2 X-rays and one CT but only to tell my husband in the appointment after each scan that he did not know whether it was stone or scarring or something else. At one point the doc said his kidney had a weird shape and promised to consult other doctors, but later he forgot to even mention that issue again. It seems like he didn't spend any time looking into my husband's problems except for a few seconds at the beginning of each visit, and every time he just said to my husband: I don't know what this is, so let's do another test. An example of his strategy of money making is that he made my husband do a urine test after one appointment and a blood work after another appointment, both of which could be done at one lab visit. This is such a sharp contrast to another doctor we have, who ordered blood work and 2 imaging tests, worked on insurance issues, and called us about test results before a follow-up visit. The office also failed to check my husband's test results (which was invalid) before asking him to come in for the 5th visit, and therefore all my husband got told in that visit was that he needed to repeat the test. It is obviously unfair to have him travel to the office, waited for an hour, and paid 40 dollars just to get that information and zero medical advice, right? So I msged the office for days to request a refund of the copay, but nobody cared to call us back. So we completely lost faith and requested medical records, but it took 25 days for them to ask about mailing address--we finally got the records after a month and a half. Additionally, Dr Perry is often unprofessional and unethical. He would spend more than half of the appointment time bad mouthing about other patients, bragging his family history, and chatting about his personal life. This is extremely aggravating given that he did not care to diagnose my hubby's kidney problem. Dr Perry tried to seem friendly but sometimes showed signs of being offensive and passive aggressive. My daughter dropped AirPods on the floor, and then Dr Perry repeated asked loudly: is that gum? Is that gum? This made them feel completely disrespected. Overall I found this doctor a huge waste of our time and patience. Over 3 months have passed while my husband's kidney pain kept getting worse and we got no diagnosis from this doc. read more

I thought Dr Perry was amazing unfortunately his staff and billing are horrible. Last year despite being in network with a good PPO insurance company the office charged my husband $150. After speaking to my insurance and a number of calls back six months later I finally got our money back. I have left vm because it's always their machine which they claim they returned but I have nothing in my call history from their number. I missed the online appointment because no text alert was made and I called and re-scheduled yesterday today I 'm told I have a $50 charge for a no show and I have a $170 fee to pay because they cannot confirm my insurance. Seriously !!!! I do understand there are times insurance companies don't pay claims but to have a repeat patient pay up front considering they have made this same error before is crazy. read more

He is an expert in his field and takes the time to explain the details of your health situation and the makeup of the body in a way that is fascinating yet easy to understand. Few urologists have in-house imaging equipment of any kind. Dr Perry is so passionate about his craft that he has invested in the very best imaging equipment in existence - better than the imaging centers and equal to any hospital! His zeal for his field of practice is matched by an equal passion for life and people. He is truly a rare breed and an absolute joy to interact with. Site says to schedule appointment on line. However, must wait for confirmation. Within a month, my appointment has been canceled twice. No way to call office, I visited office in Allen and was assured someone would text me. I received a text apparently created by artificial intelligence canceling my appt yet again. Since doctor is supposedly a Christian, it ends text with "have a blessed day" dr. Perry was highly recommended by a friend of mine who spoke very well of him. I have an issue which I don't feel I can continue waiting thus will have to search for another doctor before I die waiting for an appt with Dr. Perry. Don't waste your time unless you want to wait weeks. I hope that Dr. Perry is aware of his non-staff, inability of his A.I. software to schedule appointments in a timely manner. Great bedside manner. Encouraging. Christian. Great physician. The reason for 4 stars is that he only does the initial needle biopsy and then refers people to physicians at UTSW. UTSW has extremely expensive testing. A person should be able to get an MRI at a free standing center that charges a reasonable price. That isn't an option here. Dr. Perry only refers you to an incredibly expensive UTSW for testing. The physicians at UTSW want to schedule you for a TRUS biopsy, before they even do the MRI. Some people are conservative. They need to know there is a problem before they go schedule another expensive procedure. read more

The one star review is for the practice and not the doctor himself. I visited Dr. Perry's office 3-4 times as a private pay patient. After each appointment his staff was very quick to reach out to schedule the next appointment. I told them that it would be another couple of months before I was going to be coming back. During that time, our company had open enrollment and I was excited to see that Dr Perry was on the company insurance plan. A couple of months after the new plan was in place, and after putting off multiple calls from his business office to schedule an appointment, I reached out to schedule. Following is the text message I received after providing my new insurance information and contacting them to schedule... "We are so sorry. Unfortunately, we do not have any openings for your insurance at this time. We will call you back when we have an opening. We apologize for any inconvenience. Thank you for calling Dr. Perry's office. Sincerely, the Business Office of Malcolm O. Perry III M.D. " Prior to having insurance, they were calling to schedule and even scheduling without my involvement to get an appointment on the books, but now, all of the sudden, they don't have openings. In my opinion this speaks volumes. It was not my health that drove them to try to keep me coming in, it was the fact that they make more money on private pay patients. Doesn't match up well with the doctor's stories of selfless service in the community for the past 3 generations. He seems to be a nice guy, but these practices were very disappointing. read more

Dr. Perry is an incredible doctor. If you are looking for a wonderful physician who will listen to your every need and provide the most wonderful care, Dr. Perry far exceeded our expectations in both categories. He is excellently trained and even gave his personal cell phone number to us when we're leaving his office. Wow! He is knowledgeable but also kind and a great listener. I love the texting system where I can quickly get a reply without calling in and waiting on hold. Dr. Perry is most importantly, thorough. I usually end up asking him questions regarding more than urology for his advice and he is always willing to give it. He doesn't treat us like a number and he puts us as the patient before everything else and I genuinely wish all doctors still practiced like this. This is an amazing Doctor! He is very detailed and gets to the bottom of your issues. Other doctors dismissed concerns or gave treatments that were not conducive to the issue. I arrived on time, part of the paperwork was illegible, due to being copied so many times. A medical assistant put me in a room. She checked on me a long time later to see if I was "ok", and I said "no, I'm not okay, what time is it?". She told me, and at that point 55 minutes had gone by since I had arrived. She made an excuse that the Dr. was at an "emergency". Then about 10 minutes later the Dr. comes in, huge smile on his face, says he was talking to a state agency, it had nothing to do with medicine. Imo, he was bragging about wasting potential patients time. I was there over an hour, but I did get my money back on the way out. He had absolutely nothing to say. No apology, nothing. Just wanted to recommend Dr Perry if you are needing a urologists in the McKinney/Plano/Allen area. I have been a patient of his for over 5 years and each time I go into his office I am met with respect and a caring Christian doctor and his staff that are there to help with your needs. My first meeting with Dr Perry was an emergency at the Allen hospital and I could not have been given a more caring doctor. I have once again been dealing with a medical issue these past few weeks and he is doing all the right tests and follow up visits to ensure my health. read more

While I agree Dr. Perry is very thourough I have been fighting with his office staff and business department to get my claims filed. The insurance comapny and myself have repeatly called and requested the documentation so they could process my claim. They owe me 600$ and will not pay me back till the claim is closed. The claim won't close because someone in their office is not doing their job. DO NOT pay in advance if you go there, you will NEVER get reimbursed for any overages you might pay. read more

After waiting for over 2 hours past my appointment time, I walked out. The billing department kept saying my insurance was "inactive". I assured them it was not and called my insurance company standing right next to the receptionist. They verified that my coverage was good and said they have not had anyone try to verify since my CT scan the day before(one floor down!). I told the receptionist this info. She called the billing dept again. They tried to electronically verify again. Didn't work. The receptionist showed me the print out. I looked it over and told her they were verifying with the company I had last year, not the company I gave them my card for. The group number was not correct. She contacted billing again and they said they would try again. Waited. Again, she told me they were not able to verify so I would need to pay the full amount. I told her I KNOW I have coverage so I will not pay the full amount. I will pay my co-pay and they can figure it out. She called billing again and asked billing to speak to me. The billing lady told me they were unable to verify coverage. I explained to her that she was submitting to the wrong company and was not using the correct group number. She said that is the way their system is set up and they couldn't change the group number. Um, what???? I told her that I had just called my insurance company and they said there was NO problem with my coverage. I told her to call the same number I had and they would verify. She said their policy is to get electronic verification so they have it in writing. I told her that is fine but there is clearly a problem with their electronic system so she probably needs to call. Again, she said it wasn't their policy to call the insurance company. I suggested she call them and then ask them to fax her a written copy of the verification. She said that wasn't their policy and she couldn't do that. She said I would have to pay the full amount and when insurance verifies, they would reimburse me. Really???? You can't even problem solve this simple issue after I have CLEARLY told you what is wrong and you want me to come out of pocket when I HAVE coverage and then expect you to figure it out and eventually pay me back.....maybe???? Um...no. She started to tell me that they really want me as a customer. I cut her off and said they obviously don't want me as a customer and that I would not be a customer and hung up. I walked out of the office never even meeting Dr. Perry. Mind you, THREE people ahead of me walked out without being seen due to billing issues and waiting over 2 hours past their appointment time. There is a HUGE billing dept issue in that office and I feel bad for Dr. Perry because he is losing patients because of it. I hope he knows what they are doing to his patients. And if this is the way they treat a new patient, like me, I don't want to be a patient there. I contacted my primary doctor who referred me to Dr. Perry and told him what happened and that he probably shouldn't send any other patients there.
