Amazing! Great flavors. We did a large group order at work and everyone LOVED their food. Portion sizes were large. I highly recommend

My wife had the Yellow Curry and I had the Pad Thai,we shared deep fried Won Tons.

It's always a pleasurable time when we visit Mali Thai for dinner. The Host is always so friendly and welcoming, what a wonderful start to an experience. The food is so yummy,it's so filling. We always leave happy after we visit, definitely coming back for another time.

Definitely worth a stop if you are in the area. Delicious Thai food served piping hot. Small space with 10-15 tables. Grab a menu, then stand in line to order at the counter, When ready, dishes are brought to your table. We enjoyed the fresh spring rolls, Green Curry, Pad Thai, wings, and mango sticky rice for dessert. We will be back soon.

I wasn't expecting much having been spoiled by Thai food in Thai Town in LA, but oh my lanta this place was gooooodddd. Landed on this place because I needed dinner while supercharging close by. I ordered the pad kee mao spicy. It really hit the spot. I really appreciated that they had extra veggies in this dish that don't standardly come with it (broccoli, bamboo shoots, and bean sprouts). There was a little condiment station too. I was pleasantly surprised to find that they still had huy fung sriracha!! But it wasn't needed as the dish buy itself was absolutely delicious. The service was great and the staff was friendly. It has a mom and pops shop feel with seating for maybe 15 people. I would definitely go back if I was in the area.

I've become a regular at Mali's and am always extremely happy with my meal! Staff is super friendly! Food is served fresh and hot and with my perfect spice level!!! It is by far my favorite Tai food in all of Eugene!! It's also conveniently located, plenty of parking and ready to pick when they give you a time to pick up for take out!!

    Fresh Summer Rolls ($9) - October 2023

A little pricey, but some dang good food. I got the Fresh Summer Rolls ($9) to start, which were light and refreshing and delicious with that sweet peanut dipping sauce! They would make an amazing and healthy lunch on their own, but I was determined to get an entree as well, so I only ate two and took the rest to go (with some extra peanut sauce!). For my entree, I got the Pumpkin Curry with Pork ($18). It's on their online menu, but missing from the restaurant menu. It was tasty and filling, but a little on the salty side. My favorite part is the condiments. They have a spice counter! Not all Thai places have them, and those that do usually bring them out as spice "trays". The counter had (1) dried Thai chilis, (2) chili sauce, (3) sweet and tangy pickled jalapeños (my favorite), (4) chili oil, and the very spicy (5) Thai chilis in fish sauce. Yum! The ambiance is nice and comfortable, and the staff is very accommodating.

I ordered the Tom Yum soup with Shrimp medium-spicy. It came out with great flavor, and had a bit more kick than I'm used to (which was fine). Service was good -- they refilled plenty of water for me. It seems to be a family-owned restaurant (they had some younger kinds hanging around, which I always appreciate). The building itself is a bit run-down. And while I'm not really familiar with the area, the neighborhood also seemed to be a bit sketchy. However, it was cozy inside, and the food was good, so I would definitely return.

It seemed to be lacking some acid, salt and sweetness but maybe it was just an off night. The fried tofu was tasty, even though I usually prefer fresh tofu. 4 stars. The owner was so kind and friendly - you can't help but want to support families like theirs. Sounds like the previous owner had health issues and this family came down from Portland to take over. We ordered three items: Tom Kha soup with chicken, pineapple curry with chicken, and Pad Thai with pork. First thing to know--the portions are HUGE. The three dishes could easily have fed four people. The curry was probably 1 1/2 times the size we're normally used to at Thai restaurants, and the Pad Thai looked almost double the size for only about $4 more than what we normally pay elsewhere. Extremely good value. And the portion-size test? See the leftovers photo. After the two of us ate dinner, there was still enough food left for breakfast or lunch the next day. The pineapple curry was probably the standout for me, although it was a toss-up between that and the Pad Thai. My wife ranked the curry first, followed by the Pad Thai and then the soup. The pineapple curry came out in a surprisingly large bowl with plenty of chicken, vegetables and big pieces of pineapple--not a bowl of sauce with a few ingredients floating around in it. Great presentation. The sauce was creamy, slightly sweet and still allowed the curry spices to come through. We ordered it mild and there was still a little bite. The vegetables were cooked just right--not mushy and not raw. The pineapple was sweet and tasted remarkably fresh. According to our server, the pineapple actually comes from a large can. I wouldn't have guessed it. You'd swear you were eating freshly cut pineapple. The Pad Thai was another winner. Again, HUGE serving and very flavorful. Unlike some Thai restaurants that put the peanuts and bean sprouts separately on the side, here they're incorporated right into the Pad Thai, with crushed peanuts and green onion across the top. We ordered the Pad Thai mild. I normally eat Thai food hot or extra hot, so mild obviously wasn't going to give me the heat I normally like. I added about three teaspoons of their Thai hot chili paste. That enhanced the flavor even more and gave me the nice burn I was looking for. That's personal preference, not a criticism of the dish. Their heat choices are mild, medium, hot and extra hot. The Tom Kha chicken soup was also a VERY large serving. There was plenty of tender chicken and vegetables, and ordering it mild certainly didn't hide the other flavors. For our personal taste, however, it wasn't as creamy or as sweet as the Tom Kha we normally prefer. Again, that's OUR preference, and someone else may prefer it exactly this way. I added about three teaspoons of sweet chili sauce to bring up the heat for me. Service deserves its own mention. Our waitress was friendly and attentive without hovering. She noticed that I was drinking a lot of water and, instead of making repeated trips to refill my glass, brought a carafe of water to the table. A small thing, maybe, but that's the kind of personal service I notice. The restaurant itself was another pleasant surprise. It's considerably larger inside than you might initially expect, with the dining room divided into smaller seating areas by wooden partitions. Lots of warm wood, exposed beams and hanging lights give it a comfortable, established atmosphere rather than the feel of one large open dining room. Even with other conversations going on around us, the sound was more of a muted background noise. We could easily carry on a conversation at our own table without competing with the room. The front waiting area, with carved wooden furniture, plants and decorative woodwork, also gives the restaurant some personality. See the photos. Bottom line: generous portions, excellent value, attentive service and very good food. For us, the pineapple curry and Pad Thai were the stars. The Tom Kha wasn't quite the creamy style we personally prefer, but it was still flavorful and loaded with tender chicken. Would we order the pineapple curry again? Absolutely. And seriously...that pineapple came from a can? You could have fooled me.

This last time we ordered Pad See Ew and Beef Yakisoba. The Pad See Ew tasted of nothing but oil, lacked very little sauce and noodles were way overcooked. The Beef Yakisoba was similar but also would add that the vegetables were old...the broccoli was turning color (yellow) and the mushrooms were slightly slimy and mushy. The noodles tasted like basic ramen, not Yakisoba that were just blanched in hot water and quickly stir fried. They still had that starchy texture and chewy much like the beef. I came here on a Sunday afternoon and the restaurant was bustling. We got seated right away at a booth with a window view. My waitress was an older Asian lady. She was very nice, not too talkative, but she was on top of her things. I was craving soup and decided on the highly recommended tom kha with tofu. To start, we had thai tea, thai coffee and the shrimp triangle. For our entrees, we decided on the pad see eu (they spell it pad se eu here), panang curry. The shrimp triangles were very yummy. Definitely get those. The thai tea and coffee was good, but just a little watered. I expected the taste to last in my mouth for a little bit. But it didn't. For the soup, I was excited to taste the soup! It smelled really good and it was boiling hot. My thought after my first sip of Tom Kha was, ok, this is good, they got it, but it just wasn't quite there. I couldn't pinpoint what was missing. Then I figured out that they didn't use full coconut milk. It was just a little bit and it was the lighter version. How disappointing! I wanted the robust tang, spice and coconut like how I have at home. The entrees made me sad. I really, really wanted to love it. The panang curry should be rich, thick and creamy. Instead it was soupy. I was really expecting and wanting the curry to stick to my rice, but instead it made soupy curry rice. My daughter pointed out that the curry and the tom kha soup was the same color and consistency. I didn't want to believe, but I think they used the same base and added the appropriate toppingss and seasonings to make a soup and a curry. My saddest dish was my last one that came out. It was the pad se eu. The wide rice noodles was wet and in broken pieces. I'm Asian and I'm from Vegas via Hawaii which means we have a lot of Asian cuisines, we know our food and have friends who work in high end Thai restaurants. (Think Lotus of Siam) When rice noodles break into smaller pieces, it means the noodles are probably not fresh and got hard. To soften, the cook used extra water and the heat was not high enough to cook, so it stuck to pan, making the cook mix it around more...broken wet noodles that doesn't brown. Overall, I really wanted to love this place. It has potential. Maybe it was an off day but on that day I went, it didn't give me the wow I expected. Most of the items has the taste on point. Please don't water down the curry or use lower fat coconut cream. I'm not used to having regular brocolli in thai food either, but I guess this is what Eugene likes or what we can get. And people, share your food! Thai food is family style! Share it! Put it in the middle of the table and let the other person have some! I was people watching around my table and my table was the only one that didn't have our own entree per person. lol

The Massaman curry came with a bowl of rice, brown or jasmine, as did the eggplant. We were a little concerned that the single bowl would not be enough because we were sharing the dishes family style. But it worked out. We also ordered off the special as well on the recommendation of staff chef Aria: the sausage appetizer and the Wild Mushroom Dumplings -- the presentation was striking and the cameras came out. Ordered the Painkiller which is by far one of the best cocktails on the menu. Our server was avoiding our table, no updates on the food or a 'sorry the kitchen is backed up'. There were lots of people ordering take out, after our food order was placed. The restaurant got busier. It took about 30 minutes to get our dinner. The Pad Thai was very bland, one tone tasting. There wasn't much beef, veggies or flavor. The noodles were all clumped together, broken chunks. Usually the Pad Thai is served with beans sprouts, lime wedges, crushed peanuts on the side to mix. I had to ask for the lime wedges. The lime wedges helped the blandness, added a punch of flavor. For $18 pad thai, I expected way better especially for the long wait time. My sister enjoyed her red curry. I think there were a couple mint leaves in there. No carrots, cuke, cilantro, or any other kind of vegetable you can imagine, and barely any tofu. Peanut sauce was delicious and worth adding to the order, as the chili sauce it comes with is ok but syrupy sweet. Adding in the peanut sauce for $2, that came to $10 for lettuce. Inflation is hitting us all hard... restaurants included. But tofu and carrots are not that expensive, right? And if they ran out of ingredients, they should just say so. Yelping about petty things is not a nice thing to do. This review reflects my frustration about a broader pattern that goes beyond this one restaurant (which is why I don't include this in the star rating). Eugene restaurants often do not try to keep up basic standards because there's insufficient competition, and they get away with things that wouldn't fly in a big city. I wish more restaurants, including food trucks, took pride in what they put on the plate.

Sooooooooo good!! We had a drink at the brewery next door and weren't sure if we were in the mood…read morefor Thai but so glad we gave this truck a try. First of all - everything came out piping hot. So fresh and satisfying. We got red curry and pad Thai. Both were absolutely delicious. We get Thai very regularly in the Bay Area and we weren't sure what to expect in Eugene. But seriously fast, fresh and awesome!! Don't hesitate - give this place a try.
