Been to so many Thai restaurants like this and I generally like them a lot but none have been quite as consistent as Ta Ra Rin in Springfield(can't personally speak for their other locations). I've tried quite a few things on their menu including vegan dishes and never once been disappointed. Most recent visit I ordered an entree from their Specials called the Pad Mango. It's sort of a classic Thai stir fry dish with basil and Thai chilis but this one has the addition of mango and cashews and somehow really amplifies the whole thing. I've usually ordered it with chicken but went with the tofu this time and it was just as good. Parents both ordered the Chow Min with chicken as they normally do and weren't disappointed either. We also had the sampler platter(fried tofu, veggie spring rolls, pork wontons and chicken satay). My partner ordered a tom yum noodle soup and also really enjoyed her meal. Was nearby and on a whim decided to get some fresh rolls and Tom Kha soup to go. Simple food but they hit the spot. The rolls were fresh and perfectly paired with the peanut and chili sauces. The only nit i have was the use of tofu vs shrimp as I typically get them elsewhere. But that said, they were still good. The atom Kha soup was very good. Proper seasoning and a good amount of chicken. I would've liked to try other dishes but was only in the area briefly. They ARE a bit pricey though. Highly recommend the Chef's special Three Flavored Catfish, a sweet and savory dish. Service was so-so, in that they were a little slow to refill drinks, but our server was friendly. The Springfield location is a little less nice than their other locations. More of a casual vibe to it. read more

When one of my group's food was spicier then it usually would be (she usually gets the medium spice, but it seemed to be spicer to her this go around) they remade her dish for her which was very kind, and was done very quickly. The food was also just so very delicious, had me going "Mm!" And kicking my feet the whole time! The portions are good. I liked that they had the ingredients in every dish on the menu. I am also allergic to nuts and sesame and they were very accommodating to that and very kind about it and did not make it feel like a burden. The place was very clean, as well as nicely decorated. We had just checked into our hotel around 7pm and were looking for some food to quickly grab but didn't want to do fast food. After a quick search on Yelp, Ta Ra Rin Thai Cuisine restaurant popped to the top of my search for excellent food stops nearby. THE SETUP I love getting the standards of any cuisine since that is what I will compare the restaurant to with other restaurants in the same category cuisine. For Thai, that boils down to Tom Kha Gai (Spicy Coconut Milk Soup), Drunken Noodles, Crispy Egg Rolls, Fresh Rolls, also probably a Sate Chicken appetizer or any other dish that comes with Peanut Sauce. Ta Ra Rin Thai was firing on all pistons with our selections AND they where extremely reasonably priced for each of the items we got (matching easily many of the deals I can access back here in Sacramento). Nothing like driving 20 miles into town to pickup dinner and I get home to find out my dish has no peanut sauce... I ordered the swimming lady, I'm not sure how the chef forgot the most important ingredient in the dish. We frequent here at least twice a month and lately it's been disappointing. Last time they forgot rice, and the spice level has been mediocre. Our other entree (spicy cashew noodle) had absolutely zero spice in it, my 3 year old said it wasn't spicy.. long story short we'll be returning to use our restaurant credit because the quality of food is great, but they've got some other concerns to address and we won't be back anytime soon after this. I hope they can figure out what's going on and get it fixed because we will be taking our money to Chao Pra Ya or elsewhere next time. Restaurant itself is nice and cosy, we were greeted and seated promptly after entering. The menu is pretty straight forward and food took a while to come out but everything was hot and fresh. Beef Chow Min meat was a bit over cooked but it was still really good. Pineapple fried rice is a must have. We got two orders of the chicken satay, the first was great and the second was a bit dry. Super friendly service in a nice relaxed ambiance for a delicious meal... great experience. The parking area was packed with cars but the place itself had multiple tables available and was not overly crowded. Lots of take out orders but also enough people seated to make it feel a relaxed place to have a nice dinner with a friend. We opted for your special : Pumpkin curry with red curry and rice. Delicious and nice chunks of whole pumpkins. We shared a stir fried vegetable dish with peanut sauce. Not bad but a bit clingy on the sauce. The wings were cooked ahead so didn't quite have the texture and bite that fresh wings have but we're served nicely on a bed of cabbage. I must premise this post by saying I previously loved this food. But the food grade has slipped, unfortunately the wrong direction. Plates lack flavor and brightness. My noodles were great if you like uncooked bell pepper in huge chunks mixed in and where was the basil -- oh it's in tiny pieces you can't taste. This has been our go-to for Thai and while we still love the flavors they bring- last few experiences have been very frustrating. Prior to this we couldn't eat the order we had, ended up with a refund. Luckily we saved the food in case they didn't believe us. Wasn't an issue but she did ask of we still had it. This time around we ordered and one of our dishes, Pad Kee Mao- very little basil, bland in flavor, zero heat. My favorite dish too. I did order hot and the other dishes were hot- just not mine. I dont know what to do. Perhaps we need to order in, then when we can verify its what we ordered - pack it up and go home? Ugh. I dont like to leave complaints, these times are so difficult as it is. Would seem a little more care would go in to customers orders instead of frequent mistakes. This is probably one of the few remaining restaurants that don't take digital orders. So beware that they may not get your order correct, cause that's exactly what happened to me. Even though the lady re-read the order on the phone, at the time of pickup it looked wrong on the screen. They would quickly correct their mistake. "It will only take 15 minutes." It took 40 more minutes. 40. And then when they finally provide you with your not-so warm food, they not so much comp you. Most places would throw in a free appetizer. I understand that things were busy. But that is not how your treat customers and recover from your mistake. Then to find out at home that they forgot to put extra rice for the two orders they forgot to include the first time. The curries come with rice. How hard is this? HORRIBLE. What gives? read more

While the food is almost always good here they really need to work on the front of the business customer service. We showed up on Saturday night about 5 pm with 4 adults and 3 kids (one baby) could easily have fit at a 6 person table. Hostess/waitress tells us that there are no big tables left (there are dozens of tables open could have easily accommodated). We tell her we could do two tables if we must, she says QUOTE "ok but they won't be even remotely close to each other" so we took our money elsewhere to spend! Upon leaving there is a group of 6 adults outside who over hear us recounting the situation and they said they just turned them away as well!! read more
