Restaurant Jardin du Vietnam is an all-inclusive experience. Every meal here is a multi-course affair that moves from soup to appetizer plate to entree and dessert. Alcohol isn't offered but guests are welcome to BYOB and there's no corkage or other associated fees. It's fair to say that you'll leave Restaurant Jardin du Vietnam very full for a reasonable price even if what you've consumed looks nothing like your typical order from a Vietnamese restaurant in San Francisco. The only decisions to be made here pertain to your choice of entree and dessert. At my table our entree orders included Poulet (chicken) Curry ($25.95CAN, and a bit one-note) and a Shrimp/Scallop dish ($32.95CAN, pristine but bland in flavor). The latter was chosen because it featured vermicelli (aka rice noodles) which are often featured in favorite Vietnamese dishes back home. But there's a silver lining here; the entire experience of the place is interesting and sort of fun and though the food wasn't my favorite version of Vietnamese fare I liked, overall, what was on offer. Several tables were filled with parties of 4, early and known to the restauranteurs, and covered with wine bottles, evidence that Restaurant Jardin has a local fan base. The restaurant itself is authentically ornate and unique to the area. And the multi-course experience is leisurely and enjoyable.
