I got a deep conditioning treatment from Mali. I have very fine, curly hair and a tender head. I told Mali when she was washing my hair that the curls get tangled easily (obviously). She must not have heard me. After she washed out the hair mask, she went to brush my hair with a comb from the top down like you would straight hair.. of course running into a tangle. Instead of stopping to GENTLY tease it out from the bottom, she proceeded to yank the comb through the knot, and I could hear my hair RIPPING out. I yelled OW! And looked at her like wtf are you doing?! She then tightly bundled my hair up in her hand and VIGOROUSLY "brushed" through my hair tearing out more and more. She then showed me ball of hair she unnecessarily tore out on the comb. Mali obviously doesn't know how to comb through curly hair. You start from the bottom up and gently pick through any tangles, NOT start from the top down and CREATE knots that you then aggressively rip out. It felt violating. I needed my hair dry, so she blow-dried without a diffuser... of course. My hair looked all kind of crazy when she was done. I don't think I've ever felt uglier, especially from a hair salon. She obviously didn't know what she was doing and was extremely careless with me. Speaking of careless, when I sat under the dryers with the shower cap on to let the deep conditioner set in, she didn't even offer me a magazine to read. I finally got up and just helped myself to one. I found that to be unaccommodating. Plus side is that my hair feels softer.. what is left of it that didn't end up in her comb. read more

I went to Mali's for a hair cut and blow dry. Mali asked me how I wanted my hair cut and I told her just a trim and some layers. A few minutes later I saw a woman walk by and mentioned liking her hair style. Mali responded, "Well the thing is that woman has beautiful hair..." As in I don't have beautiful hair.
