First time to try their sticky buns. Friendly and welcoming. They say their sticky buns are made fresh every morning but I'm not sure about that. Regardless they were really good, moist, and tasted great. They only sell sticky buns by the half dozen so you can't get just one sticky bun. Crumb cake was very good as crumb cakes go. We picked up 12 sticky buns while in Avalon. They were tasty with great caramelization. They are certainly best warmed up but good regardless. Nice little morning treat for the house to enjoy. read more

We love Mallon's! Their crumb cake is the best of any! They will mail it too! We also got some pasties that were almost as good!

Local establishment offering coffee and an assortment of baked goods. Staff was friendly and they had an assortment of different flavored sticky buns. Even though sticky buns seem to be the item that they are famous for we opted for a crumb bun since they didn't sell the sticky buns individually and we did not feel like eating six sticky buns. On top of it it is a cash only establishment. They have an ATM for those that neglect to carry cash but you have to pay the usual ATM fees. Crumb bun was $2.75 for one which was a very fair price and it was tasty for sure. Next time we have to round up a group of six people that want to eat the same flavor sticky bun that we want to eat. read more

I was so underwhelmed by the "famous" sticky buns. I would expect fresh buns to be churned out every few minutes... not sitting in a pastry case by the brick-load. Didn't pull apart or ooze buttery sugary sticky goodness... in fact they were a bit dry. The minimum order is frustrating. I actually didn't realize it was cash only... I wish I did and that way I wouldn't have blown $20 on 11 sticky buns I won't eat. Employees are nice! I really just wish it would have lived up to the hype. read more

Did Mallon's get bought by a corporation years ago? They used to be the best sticky buns on the planet. We try them each year to see if they fixed the recipe but no luck. The buns are almost ok. They taste like a potato roll with sugar. Too bad. read more

Quite possibly the best combination of butter, flour, and sugar on the planet. Get here early on the weekends...like 7am...or instead of walking out with the delicious cherry, blueberry, or pineapple sticky buns you'll be left with prune. They also make a solid knock-off of the famous Cinnabon for those who simply must have more sugar and butter on top of the already pancreas taxing sticky bun. These buns are technically "good"---they seem fresh, and the caramelization of the sugar on top is tasty. Also, when I went (7:30 on a Thursday), there was no line and the young many behind the counter was pleasant enough. However, Mallon's wasn't tasty enough to bring me back. The dough of the sticky buns wasn't particularly good. It was sort of bland---almost like the kind of dough base that you see in those cheap pecan swirls that you can get at ACME for a $1- $2. Again, it was fresh---just bland. Also, they have a minimum-purchase requirement, i.e., you cannot just go in and buy one or two sticky buns. You have to buy a minimum of half dozen. I just wanted to try one bun; no one else in my family likes sticky buns.The minimum-purchase requirement would not be so bad if they had some samples out (or at least a sign indicating that you can try a sample if you ask the server). After all, before you commit to half a dozen sticky buns ($8.75), wouldn't it be nice to know if you'll like them or not? Another inconvenient policy is that they are cash-only (as are many places at the Jersey shore, to be fair). They have an ATM on premises, but that means that customers have to add $2 - $4 onto the cost of the product because that is how much ATM fees normally amount to. In other words, rather than the business footing credit/debit card fee, they let customers foot the ATM fee. To me, that sends a "We couldn't care less" / "Take it or leave it" attitude toward the customer. So, in short, it isn't that Mallon's isn't good, but it just isn't good enough to bring me back. read more

We've been coming to the jersey shore and getting Mallons as long as I can remember. Yes the selection is limited if you aren't there early. Yes it's cash only. All things we know and expect. The cinnamon buns are our favorite and the crumb cake is delicious as well. Many other reviewers seem to find fault with their options, but it's what we've come to love over the years. These are no delicacies, but rather sugar loaded delicious treats time and time again. read more

I read that this place was rated #1 in the shore area and thought I'd give it a try because Kohlers was closed that day. Big mistake. The sticky buns and crumb cake that I purchased was average at best...nothing special...definitely NOT worth a "Best of Jersey Shore vote"... and the service was even worse! OMG! Seriously, if there had been a huge line in this place then I would have understood the attitude and lack of service. I purchased coffee in addition to the bakery items and I needed a third cup. I told her that the third cup was only less than half full and that she was out of coffee.. she didn't care and said" I'll get to it when I can." I also purchased a small container of milk and when I got back to the room I noticed that it was open and outdated by 5 days. I called that bakery back and was told "well, that was our milk for coffee and you shouldn't have taken it."Really? You shouldn't have sold it to me. Makes me wonder what other products that they use are outdated. This was my first experience with this place and my absolute last! Kohlers still has my vote.. read more
