Here in Santa Fe, NM, for our annual visit to attend the Wine and Chili Fiesta. A separate review of the fiesta will be posted shortly. On our first day here, we had to stop by Malouf on the Plaza, a stunning retail store that's been there for over 10 years now. It's a luxury apparel and accessory shop, that, simple put, has an exquisite inventory. Native American jewelry, a wide variety of turquoise, gold and diamond jewelry, leather goods, men's and women's clothing, etc. Great quality, and reasonable prices. Without question, one of the best shops on the plaza! Jesse is our go-to sales rep there. She knows her stuff, and is such a pleasure to work with. We didn't buy anything this time (a first I think), but it was a great visit and so fun to browse while chatting with Jesse. Yes, the eagerness to help feels a little stepping into a Hyundai car lot, but if you just let someone help you, they'll help you find sizes, help find things that match your taste, and give you some information about the items. Have been to this business several times when in sant Fe. Always friendly staff and most helpful. Wonderful selection of jewelry but I was there for Navaho rugs and she had a wonderful selection. Prices were commiserate with other "fine antique" rug dealers. Her rugs are real but beware of competitors low prices who display knockoffs. read more

This fine jewelry store honors every artist, displaying each one's work as a curated collection under the maker's name. It was wonderful to hear the story of each artist and their process from our salesperson, Jessi. We learned about the origin of the stones and the state of the mines from her too. To say she's a salesperson is almost a misnomer. She's not just in it to sell. Jessi was knowledgeable, charming, and genuine. She makes customers happy while also promoting and supporting the artists. As passionate as she is about her work, Jessi never pushed or pressured us in any way. If you shop for jewelry in Santa Fe you will find this is very much the exception and not the norm. Favorite store on the plaza. Excellent name brands spectacular selection and variety of unique items. Associates are warm and welcome you and don't follow you around which i found most do in Santa Fe nicer boutiques which if you're like me that just makes me uncomfortable. Their jewelry selection is perfection so many beautiful timeless turquoise pieces yet they also sell staple items as well. They have an incredible selection of jewelry and artistic pieces from the SW. unfortunately they tend to be on the pricey side but sometimes you have to pay the price to get the quality. I purchased a beaded bracelet which arrived home damaged because it wasn't Secured during shipping. They made the situation right with only a small amount of effort required on my part, and no additional cost. BUYER BEWARE!!. This store is horrible. My husband bought me a ring here at Christmas and I called them and returned it the day after Christmas because I didn't like it. It was too big and the edges caught on everything. THEY REFUSE TO GIVE ME BACK MY MONEY, only a store credit which I don't want. I live out of state and I don't feel comfortable EVER ORDERING FROM THEM AGAIN BECAUSE OF THEIR LACK OF CUSTOMER SERVICE . I JUST WANT MY MONEY BACK!! They have lost me as a customer!! read more

I did not give fewer stars because Malouf absolutely has beautiful and well made merchandise. Here's the problem with Malouf: given their price point, they should have better service. Their merchandise is extremely expensive, and the service is not in line. If I pay $3,000+ for a handbag or coat, all the salespeople should be better trained than they are in Malouf. Not all the salespeople in the store are up to the level one expects from a luxury retailer. Most are, but that's not good enough when you want to charge their prices. read more

Jonathan was just simply amazing. I walked into the store looking for a nice ring and my eye was drawn to this BEAUTIFUL Armenta piece. Jonathan was very knowledgable about the piece and the company. The store itself is quite large and there is something for everyone! I recommend taking around 2 laps in the store just to see everything before you start trying things on. Malouf is always one of our first stops on our annual visit to Santa Fe. The store always has some new treasures in the jewelry department with many items made by local artists. We have come home with several great pieces. The clothing department is also terrific, nice quality for both women and men with many unique items. Our first trip to Santa Fe and visited Malouf On the Plaza our first day. What a wonderful surprise...you could spend ours in the store just looking at all the beautiful pieces they have to sell (most all handmade). We received a Santa Fe and family history lesson from Redmond...a delight to work with and very well informed. Never shop with Gilda Meyer-Niehof! She cheerfully sold my husband and I a $2,500.00 necklace, which we were having shipped to avoid the $191.00 in sales tax. This was my anniversary present, so we specifically filled out a form to have the necklace sent on Monday, to arrive on Wednesday, our anniversary. Because she wouldn't give us a two hour arrival window, I made plans to stay at home all day Wednesday to sign for the delivery. About halfway through the day I called her to make sure that everything was in order. Not only had she not shipped it on Monday, she lied and said that it was sent on Tuesday. Then she put me on hold for a second and came back to tell me that it was still sitting in the store! I had worked luxury retail for almost a decade, and let me tell you, that was TERRIBLE follow through service. I didn't let it ruin our anniversary, but I'm still sitting here two days later without my gift. read more

What started out as just a nice stroll and lunch with my husband, turned into a lovely wedding band for my anniversary! Susan helped us and I found the perfect band.....which in my case was the softer sparkle of an Armenta ring with white sapphires. There were so many great things in this store: Jewelry, clothing, shoes, men's clothing and accessories. There is also a rug store attached but we didn't spend a lot of time in there because we spent so much time in the other areas. Cody and Beth were extremely nice and helpful. The only downside is that all of these beautiful things come at a fairly high price. The brands they carry are pretty high end and can be expensive. The last two times I have been to Santa Fe I have found items that I could not live without and will absolutely go back the next time I am in town. read more
