Hmm. Guess I wasn't dressed fancy enough for them. They immediately required I use the hand sanitizer, then an assigned saleswoman stuck with me as I looked around the store. I felt uncomfortable like they didn't trust me. I love Greig Porter's exquisite gemstone jewelry. They have several display cases of his pieces that are color coordinated. Dazzling. So, after a year of working out and working with a nutritionist, I lost 34lbs and fit in a size 14. I was so excited about my weight loss and feeling pretty good about myself so thought I'd splurge on some new, funky albeit expensive clothing! I walked into Santa Fe Dry Goods and asked "what do you have in my size". She looked me up and down and said "I think you should go next door". Believe me, I want to have a "Pretty Woman" moment and let her know I had lots of money to spend, too bad you won't be getting any of it! Instead, I walked out thinking well, maybe another year.... Walked in to browse with my boyfriend and my mother and we were immediately followed around the store, step by step, by a glaring sales associate. It made us too uncomfortable to look very long. Santa Fe Dry Goods and now their sister store, Workshop, are always must-go places when I visit Santa Fe. They have a selection of clothing that you don't see anywhere else, but more than this, they are very helpful, but do not pressure you. They will also send things on spec, which I really appreciated. My new favorite website. I visited the store in August and just couldn't spend enough time there because there were so many original, interesting, high quality items that I wanted to try. I bought a dress and added a great purse at the last minute. Since then I have explored their well organized and extensive website. I have ordered a jacket and 2 pair of jeans. I look at this site all the time and currently have two more items in my checkout basket. Their merchandise is eclectic, stylish, uncommon, and wearable. Prices run from $200 to $2000+. You can mix and match the basic with the exotic. I can't wait to return to Santa Fe to explore the store again. read more

in the 70s, i lived in taos.. since, i visit annually, and always shop in santa fe. i've always been impressed with SF Dry Goods (what a surprise to find eskandar and trippen shoes there).....my first Workshop visit was this summer, and i bought fiorentini & baker shoes there. A GREAT SELECTION of footwear and clothing, for certain, with incredible designers..a perfect complement to SFDG .. like very few shopping experiences outside of NYC.... This is one of the most incredible, high end stores in the country - if not the world! The world's best designers create exclusive lines for this store! The sales staff are extremely attentive - they stay with you to answer questions, make suggestions, explain the incredible processes involved in making the BEST of the best clothing in the world. This clothing is art - plain and simple and the jewelry is beautiful and there are many pieces that are so unique - you won't see the run of the mill at this store. Santa Fe Dry Goods is a high end, top quality boutique filled with fine jewelry and clothing. It's located on the corner next to the Plaza downtown. The cashmere and quality of the ROW merchandise is unmatched: Thick and incredibly luxurious. It's impossible to find anything like it in "regular" stores. The jewelry collections are stunning and I purchased quite a few strands of turquoise and gold for my mother and had them shipped to my home. As nice as this boutique is, the real treasure is Pele, the sales associate that helped us while in the store last month. She's a jewel! She is adorably stylish and fun and even modeled the necklaces to help us come to a final decision. Her warm, sweet and genuine personality made our shopping experience so much fun! She even followed up with a phone call to make sure my mom was happy with the necklaces and wished us "happy holidays"!!! Very special touch! Wish there were more "Pele's" out there! What a difference it makes to have such great quality customer service and someone so knowledgeable on staff about the products they are selling. read more

I lived in Santa Fe in the 70's and have been visiting often over the years. This is my favorite store in Santa Fe bar none and just keeps getting better. Yes, it is expensive, but if you can afford it, it's the finest the world has to offer. And if you can't afford it ( $ wise) your heart and soul will be nourished by the beauty you will find there.
