I purchased a beautiful set of diamond ear rings for my princess. And, because my wife's birthday is in February, I managed to get a very generous deal on the matching diamond necklace. Made an unplanned trip to Malstons on Wednesday night and arrived minutes before they closed. Was greeted warmly by Rosemarie, the sales associate. I explained that I wanted to look for something but not sure of what I wanted. I knew that the store closed at 7 pm, but not once did Rosemarie and her coworkers rush me or made me feel like I should leave as it was closing time. So, I took my time and browsed the showcase displays and found two diamond heart pendants that caught my eye. Rosemarie assisted me with trying both pendants on. I fell in love with the smaller pendant, as the chain is so delicate and looks so elegant. We purchased the heart pendant immediately, and I couldn't be happier! My birthday and Valentines Day are days apart and will be coming up very soon. When I dropped the ring off the staff ignored me and helped customers that arrived after me first--I guess I didn't look like I was buying something. When I picked the ring up the woman that helped me just said here and handed me the ring without even looking up. I've been dying to wear my new Omega watch since March, and instead of waiting to have it properly sized at the Omega Boutique (which remains closed to due to covid), I decided to walk a few blocks from my house and try getting it sized here at the Malsons on 86th in Bay Ridge. Since I just needed a few links removed from the bracelet I figured it would be fine, but the "jeweler" on duty was unable to get the screws out as they were too tight. ***He did however, manage to strip a couple of the screws in the process and scratch the sides of the links. I'm now left with a $5k+ watch I'm still unable to wear and it already has damage. I was already skeptical about coming here based on some of the reviews I read, but my impatience got the best of me and I got burned in the end. I went here previously to have a stone put in my ring and the service was great at that time. I went here last week to get my college class ring sized down from a 9.5 to a 7. When I received the ring back, the black antique enamel finish was missing from both the outside of the ring and the inside of the ring. Furthermore, my name which was engraved in the ring was gone as well. Nobody ever called to tell me this would happen, nobody bothered to say anything. When I saw the enamel missing they acted like it was no big deal an didn't care that I was upset. This is my college ring that has a huge sentimental value to me. I lost over 130 lbs and wanted the ring resized to fit my small hands. You would think they would treat my item with care and they did not. Now, the item needs to be sent off to Manhattan to be fixed and I only hope and pray it doesn't come back a huge mess. I would never trust them to fix my ring or any other item again. read more

Honestly disappointed. I went for watch polishing. At first they appeared to be very accommodating and attentive. Once the work was done using the watch for the first time a couple weeks later I noticed a film like print was apparent underneath the crystal on the face of the watch. Knowing the watch retails for $4,000 I went back to simply ask what could cause that if the crystal was not removed during the polishing process. Legitimate question legitimate concern I would think. Unfortunately walking into Malsons during lunch break was bad timing. Perhaps there should of been a sign 'On lunch break'. The entire 3 person staff was seated in the back enjoying their lunch having a private discussion - 2 women and a man. Not one person excused themselves to walk behind the counter and deal with me with the professionalism I had expected. I was the only person standing as if I came at the wrong time. Aren't the customers the one who are really paying for the very lunch they're eating??? To the contrar they were all on the defense (more-so the older aging women sadly I forgot her name) and insisted they had nothing to do with the film that was apparent on the face of the watch while eating their food and advise I go back to the store where I purchased the watch. Seriously??? Wow, that's how you deal with a customer that used your service and was simply concerned??? Little did they know I was only asking to understand why or what causes that and if they can share some advice. Feeling totally ignored and unimportant would be an understatement. I was also prepared to leave another watch thereafter because I need a jeweler I can develop repore with that's nearby. That won't be happening quite obviously. My patronage showed no importance. I understand business and the reason for this unprofessionalism & extreme poor customer service thus the loss of additional business (from me at least) was because no one took the time to deal with me like a paying customer to find out what my concerns really were. They thought I came to blame them. Amazing what being distracted does while being on the job. More than likely the owner wasn't present. Classic example when the authority is away the employee's integrity slips away!!! I have no issues with the owner or this beautiful well situated store he has. Not all of them, but some of them act like its a chore to open the display case to show you the jewelry. The last time I was there I wanted an Alex and Ani bracelet and the woman expected me to pick one out through the glass showcase. I mean who really buys jewelry like that? It was busy and there were other people standing there that wanted the display opened as well, so a male worker came over and opened it for us. Just wanted everyone to know, I used to frequent the store often. In the past 3 months I had a few bad experiences. First, I went there for a watch battery and they wanted to charge me for the same battery 2 different prices. Second, I went for a piece of jewelry for my wife I was quoted one price, and then the manager came over and gave me 50% less. This was unrealistic and had many doubts doing any shopping there.
