All these people expecting top notch hospital care and no wait have extremely high expectations. Urgent care is for urgent care, not absolute emergencies, not routine care or follow up care. That said, I have used this place a few times and other than the wait, which should absolutely be expected from any urgent care facility, they were pleasant and attentive. Had to take a friend here who was unwell with an oral infection and fever. They were understaffed, but checked back with us frequently. After seeing the nurse and the PA they ran a few tests and determined she had a server bacterial infection. Administered IV fluids and IV antibiotics as well as kept us there for monitoring for a couple hours. Again, with the exception of the expected wait times, it was a pleasant experience from the staff, and they discovered a deeper issue that was potentially life threatening. read more

I was being treated with antibiotics for what they thought was a sinus infection and was told if I wasn't feeling better in a few days to come back. I waited over three hours. Christine Towers came in, didn't even bother to look in my ears, down my throat, or up my nose. She just looked at me and said "if it's a sinus infection, you're on the right medication". Thanks to her I spent another week stuck on bedrest because I didn't even have a sinus infection. Was there for 3 hours, received an advil and a zpac script and was charged 1725 dollars. Criminal. Just go to wellnow. Update- Went back and forth between Albany Med and BCBS multiple times on the above claim. Received an itemized list and compared billing codes between Albany Med facilities. This facility is 3x the cost as compared to Albany Med and Glens Falls Hospital for the same services. If I had known this I would have driven 15 minutes down the road to save the $1000. read more

I arrived with ankle pain that was later deemed to be a fracture in my ankle and got x-rays done as they were the only place open at the time. When getting the x-rays the technician needed me to position my foot in a way I could not do. After telling her that I wasn't able to move it that way, she grabbed my foot and just twisted it there herself. After waiting for about 40 minutes they came back and said they think it was just a bruised bone (not possible to determine without an MRI). We left after paying the $50 requested at the front desk, and walked out (in great pain still). Here I am more than a month later and I get another $11 bill for x-rays that got done incorrectly after being assured that the original $50 payment was it. 0/10 do NOT recommend coming here. read more

I waited 25 mins at checkin to be ignored by all employees, waited over an hour and a half to finally be triaged and then waited 2 more hours to never be called back for care. I was seeking care for severe right abdominal pain. I strongly recommend you seek care at any other facility. I have had a few emergencies where I have needed quick attention and used Malta Med Emergent Care as it's the closest facility to my house. I have found both the staff, the nurses, and the doctors at this care center to be helpful, caring, and efficient. I typically have not had to wait long, but usually my situation was such that I needed immediate attention, so they took me to the back quickly. Once there, I was treated professionally and with great care. I felt like they were doing their absolute best to help me. It's never fun to be at an urgent care, but I am very grateful to have this medical resource in my community. read more

Would give a negative if I could. I went in for a lot of pain in my neck and having a migraine for 3 days straight while I had an infected pimple on my face. I went because I was concerned about sepsis. Waited 4 hrs in the waiting room, got called back to a room sat in the room for 2 hrs not a single nurse or pa came in to talk to me or to update me on anything. I rang my call bell to see if they had an eta for me to be seen because at this point of me being brought back there wasn't a lot of people left on the office. Once I rang the call bell the pa finally came in. I expressed my concerned and was brushed off by the pa. I explained I was currently on an antibiotic and that I started Saturday morning (I was on it for 3 days prior to this visit) The pa asked me if the infection went away after I took the pill Saturday morning. This question had me a little confused because he either didn't listen to me stating that I started it that day or he doesn't understand that taking one pill of an antibiotic doesn't make it go away. Them he made it seem like I was being paranoid for thinking I was in the early stages of sepsis and because I was coherent at the time. The pa never felt around my neck only looked quickly at the pimple under the band aid. He had me move my head around to make sure it wasn't meningitis but that wasn't my concern. He then told me he was prescribing me an antibiotic even though I just started taking one already. He then explained to me that sepsis is a big bacterial infection and doesn't happen all that often and told me I didn't need any labs or test and then let me know the nurse would be in shortly for discharge papers. Less than 24hrs later I was rushed to a hospital because I was going into septic shock. If you don't want to listen to patients true concerns don't go into a field that you care for people and ignore their concerns as if you know how their body feels on a daily basis. It doesn't matter if you're busy at the time or not every patient should be treated the same and listened to and be able to trust drs professional opinions. Does anyone ever actually enjoy a visit to the emergency room? No, absolutely not. However, on my visit just before the holidays, you could see they truly were trying their best to work through the influx of people and understaffing situation. While I probably waited close to 2 hours to actually get put in a room, they were very prompt with having an EKG, a chest x-ray, and vitals all completed before I was placed in a room, so it smoothed things over when the PA finally did get in to see me. All in, I probably spent about 4 hours total waiting and receiving care, but I felt the staff were all great at keeping things rolling smoothly. read more

This place is disgraceful. They don't answer calls, they don't return calls, it is impossible to schedule a test and they offer no assistance beyond what is required by law. If you ask them for help they will simply refuse. This is no way to run a medical office and everyone associated with this operation should be ashamed. This is an important field it is not a pizzeria. Lives are at stake and they fail totally, completely and miserably. Only go here if you are on the verge of death and have no other choice. Saturday afternoon, after falling from a ladder, we went to Malta Med Emergent Care. Somehowe the Triage nurse noted that I fell while walking even though I explained having slipped from the 3rd run of a ladder and fallen. I saw PA Rachel Reichel, who once she determined there was no break or fracture, and therefore nothing for her to do, no longer cared about the excruciating pain I was in. In her medical write up she notes that I was ambulating with a limp. Not sure if it the same by I was ambulating with crutches I brought from home, completely unable to bare any weight on the leg or my foot at all; its still extremely painful to put any weight on it. She did not even bother to check if I couldd bear weight on it. Furthermore, Rachel noted in her write-up that I could wiggle my toes without pain, but she never checked that either because if she had she would have seen that I can't move my foot or my toes at all without severe pain; I still cannot. That she lied about doing this part of her job and the results further exemplifies to me that after no break or fracture was evident, she didn't care. Lastly, she said they would wrap my leg which never happened. She also gave me nothing but a weak NSAID that did not remotely touch the pain. I probably will not go back, certainly no where in which she is treating patients because I have no time or patience for providers who are liars. read more

Horrible place. Too many bad experiences to name. All that is said about the dr there is true and has happened to me. Recently a nurse left my elderly friend who was there alone and was so sick she couldn't walk very well. Left her on a table for an hour. No help to the bathroom. No access to a call button. And when finished did not offer a wheelchair. Another nurse found her in the room and got her a wheel chair and helped her up. read more

Urgent Care isn't like walking into a convenient store, grabbing what you want from a shelf and getting out...at least that's not what I want. I go there for all of my labs and scans and have never had a huge wait. I went the the urgent care once, was there for HOURS, but reminded myself that there are most likely other people in in more urgent matters. Turns out I was right. I came in due to shortness of breathe and a difficult time breathing. After 3 hours, I finally saw the doctor. He stood more than 10 feet from me at all times and never even examined me. He never asked any questions, just ordered blood work and a chest xray. After hours, he came back and stated, your not having a heart attack so you can go home. Told me to follow up with my doctor. When I expressed that he didn't listen to my concerns and didn't even examine me, I was told that "you received excellent care" and I was asked to leave. Saratoga hospital for decades carried the reputation for being incompetent. Apparently, nothing has changed. I have used Malta Med in the past & have had good experiences. This time i believe I still received good care up until I called back with severe pain. They knew I had severe pain when I was there. They gave me Tylenol. It helped for a short amount of time. I just called & told them my pain is an 8/10 & asked if they could research an oral steroid. They denied me. They said my symptoms weren't bad enough & then questioned why it took me so long to call them back. I was sleeping. I have a virus. I am extremely unhappy with the care practitioner Alyssa & the after care attention I received (or didn't receive). Patients pain needs to be managed better than this. Kristen Hebert Went into Malta Med recently and was diagnosed with Conjunctivitis. I was given the antibiotic eye drops which had been working but then started to experience flu like symptoms so I went back after taking Tylenol and ibuprofen around the clock. Viral pink eye typically appears as red and watery eyes, and is accompanied by common viral cold or upper respiratory and flu like symptoms such as: swollen lymph nodes. This is exactly what I was experiencing. I went back into urgent care with my paperwork from the first time I went there just two days prior. I let them know I was just there and why. I even told them the provider I saw two days prior told me if this becomes viral to come back. I then also made them aware my son has bronchitis and was on antibiotics for that. They not once listened to my chest. Instead in intake they didn't listen to a word I said about my previous visit there and they did my BP, pulse, and took out two swab sticks and swabbed me for strep. I was then brought into a room where the nicest nurse saw me and was so sweet. Kristen Hebert, PA then came into the room and asked me if I wanted Covid and flu testing. I said no I wanted to wait for the results of my strep before I got more tests but also reiterated I felt I was having some sort of viral issue due to the pinkeye. Strep came back negative. So then she proceeded to tell me to keep doing Tylenol and ibuprofen around the clock and that virus can last 7-10 days. I then told her again I've been doing all the at home treatment and still spiking 103 fevers. I then asked why I was even tested for strep and was told it was protocol to rule out. I then asked why nobody listened to my chest as I could potentially have bronchitis like my son and also mentioned/asked why a virus from the pink eye wouldn't have been first thought in my diagnosis and she started to get mad that I was asking questions. Then Kristen Hebert started to belittle me telling me that she is a doctor as if I wasn't allowed to ask questions about my own care. She proceeded to speak over me and treat me like I was an idiot. I let her know I wasn't feeling well and only came there for help. I also let her know I was so uncomfortable the night before that I almost went to the ER but decided to try to take medicine at home and give it some time and just wasn't feeling any better and what I was doing at home wasn't helping. She had the sweet nurse come back in to discharge me and I told the nurse I came there for help not to be told Tylenol was my end all be all. The nurse then had Kristen Hebert come back in the room she then proceeded to tell me she could give me a one time steroid medication. I asked her if she thought it would help me and she said yes. So I said okay I'll take it that is why I'm here to have help/options I don't have at home. I then asked why this wasn't something offered to me until I started asking questions and she quickly left the room to go get the medication then never came back. She sent the sweet nurse back in who gave me the steroid medication, suggested zinc at home, and told me if I feel worse to come back and that Kristen wasn't a provider there everyday (she knew I was mistreated). I knew the Tylenol and ibuprofen wasn't working Kristen not once suggested a prescription antihistamine. The steroid treatment that I eventually got helped to decrease inflammation and alleviate my symptoms. It is extremely disheartening that after she knew nothing was working at home that I had to advocate for myself to get any sort of help. I feel bad for our elderly population and people who just don't know or question anything. People trust the healthcare system every single day and situations like this make me so disappointed. If I had trusted the system today and didn't advocate for myself I would've had three unnecessary tests done (all billed to me) and went home to sit with a 103 fever hoping it would go down with the Tylenol and ibuprofen over the next 7-10 days and most likely ended back at urgent care in a day or two. read more

Our family has used Malta Med a few times and has had positive experiences in the past. We have referred friends to Malta Med before, having confidence in their care. With that being said, we were shocked at our experience last night, when we arrived at approx. 6pm, my husband was having horrible back pain and it had increased to where he could not longer sit up for more than a minute or two with shooting pains. The receptionist was very pleasant and helpful, I explained my husbands situation and she checked us in. At 6:13 we were called up to register and pay our copay. We were called in to triage about 20 minutes later, the nurse was immediately annoyed with my husbands demeanor, he was sitting up answering her questions but he was clearly in pain to the point that I started answering for him. My husband recently had open heart surgery and has dealt with years of diverticulitis, he is no stranger to pain and he was in horrible pain last night. He asked the nurse if he could lay on the bed that was in the room next to us and she said "no" and that she would be quick. The nurse was finished her questions and left the room for a few minutes, while we waited, my husband got on the floor to lay down on his side because he could not take the pain anymore, the nurse came back in and didn't acknowledge my husband or ask if he was ok. She looked at me and said we could go back to the waiting area. We sat in the waiting area until from 6:50 until 9:00pm watching people come and go. I understand that the wait times of urgent care centers can be long and I joked to my husband that the triage nurse prioritized him last because he annoyed her. My husband was able to lay on one of the couches in the waiting room so he could deal with the pain. At 9:00pm he went up to ask what was going on and they told him that they called his name twice and that he did not respond. There was no way that they called his name, we never left the waiting area, not even to take a restroom break and they had both of our phone numbers as well. He asked if he could be seen at that point and was told that he would have to start the whole process all over. Needless to say we left. read more

I give them a 0 if I could. This is the worst medical facility in the area! I went in for a minor sinus infection to get a prescription and I walked out for a bill for $1312.11! Talked to a doctor for less than 2 minutes. They intentionally make you wait in an exam room for a long period of time do they can charge you for a longer visit. I've had many people tell me they had the same experience. I literally was listening to the doctor I saw discuss his personal life over the weekend with the nurses for over 30 minutes before he walked into see me. They threw her out during an appointment then lied to her insurance saying she'd left on her own. I went here a week ago after cutting a chunk of my thumb nail clean off. It was 4am and I was pretty much the only one there. They brought me back right away. The doctor wanted to do a nerve block and rip off the rest of the nail. I thought that was odd because the base and sides of the nail, 70% was still intact. I said no. He also suggested burning the wound to stop the blood. I said no. I asked for a coagulation strip to help the bleeding. The reason I am writing this negative review is because its been 1 week since the visit and my finger is almost all healed. The last thing I should have done was take off the rest of the healthy nail. Glad I stuck with my instincts. Hygiene Issue: The doctor didn't wash his hands or sanitize before grabbing the gloves he used to touch the raw bandage that was going to be placed directly on my cut. I had to ask 2-3 times for him to wash his hands after leaving the room, touching a lot of items then working on my finger. How is it not common procedure to wash your hands or change gloves when you touch a bunch of stuff including a keylock for a storage unit and the door knob several times while walking in and out of the room? Eventually he understood I wanted him to be very clean and he brought in a sterile pair of gloves to use. I can't believe I had to repeatedly ask him to be more 'clean'. He did oblige and I did feel safe but it wasn't without effort. read more

I've been to this urgent care multiple times and sincerely miss it now that we have moved to Boston. The staff are always friendly and take time to explain what they are doing and what tests they are running. The wait is sometimes long, but they usually set you up in a room with a bed so you can sleep until they see you. For someone who isn't feeling well, waiting in a bed is way better than sitting in a waiting room missing your bed. I love that they are open 24/7 and can do blood work, ultrasounds, and other scans on site. This is a huge time saver and means you can get these tests done whenever it is convenient for you. Overall, Malta Med is my favorite urgent care because its clean, up-to-date, convenient, 24/7, and can do the tests I need. I have had some seriously frustrating experiences with other urgent cares, but I love this one. Malta Med is leaps and bounds above other urgent cares facilities. I recommend a visit here next time you need care during off hours! read more

My son was there post accident after having been at the hospital two days before. The afternoon was busy however, after an x ray and telling him nothing was broken the PA I believe said it might be a tendon issue see your primary. Now let's talk about what the primary will do after his assessment send him for more pictures! I know what urgent care is for but they did nothing. To top it off he had some scrapes pretty significant ones and was following what the hospital said. They said you should put Vaseline on it and cover it. Now ONE WOULD THINK IF THAT WAS YOUR RECOMMENDATION YOU WOULD HAVE DONE THAT BEFORE HE LEFT!!!! What is wrong with you people? What A joke, Dr Julie Stein has no sense of urgency, 3 people in the waiting room and it was a 5 hour night, Never was seen, I went on a tele app and ordered antibiotics,It should of taken her 5 mins to look in to my throat and said yup, strep, here's a antibiotic have a good night.So we had to walk out and self diagnose, I wish we left after 1 hour not in the 5th hour.the other staff just sat around the nurses station just hanging out, Even the guy at the front desk was back with them hanging out, That shows you how slow it was.As we walked passed one said to us how to exit in a way we could care less tone, I didn't need her sarcastic directions.I will never choose an Albany Med Facility again, certainly not Malta med.
