I think I've finally hacked my way into the 'Make Your Own' sushi bowl. I decided to take a sushi roll I really like and made it into a bowl, the Philly. This time I did rice, salmon, cucumber, cream cheese, sweet soy sauce, and then I added avocado, crunchy tempura, sprouts, and sesame seeds. Nailed it. I think having enough sauce (or sauce like toppings) really go a long way to making your own bowl be successful. If you've tried making your own bowl before with no success, I found it worth it to keep trying and add enough toppings and sauce to make it flavorful. Also they have some sushi rolls too which comes in a big size to fill you up. Its kinda hard to notice the store sometime while driving on sunshine, so make sure you look on the side. Its next to venus nails and spa and a dental place in a place across from Mercy hospital. I always get the soba noodle and fresh tuna. My favorite combo, just add some veggies and pickle with their ginger seasne sauce and I'm good to go. The portion are very good, not too little and very fulfilling. We ordered Miso Soup, California, and Philadelphia rolls. Typically they are just the roll. But this time all of the rolls had some sort of topping that is usually not present. On the Philadelphia roll there was some sort of crunchy topping which turned out to be very unique. But with the California roll there was like a wasabi sauce on it which turned out to be pretty spicy. Because typically standard rolls are not spicy and ok for kids; but they did not want to eat it because of the unexpected spice. I have been waiting for a poke restaurant in Springfield for a few months now after having some really great poké in KC. I was hesitant to try this place because the menu looked a little weird (many of the rolls have apple or old bay spice). But I finally decided to try it after seeing a friend post their bowl on Instagram. Ordering is subway style. They have a few protein options (both cooked and raw) and a few "base" items (rice, soba noodles, greens and more). I opted for a bowl with white rice and salmon. The veggie options are pretty good. I ended up picking carrot, asparagus, pickled daikon radish, and avocado. They were super skimpy with the avocado in my opinion. I topped mine with sesame seeds, wasabi mayo, and sweet soy. The wasabi mayo was not spicy at all, and I'm sensitive to spice. Overall, the flavors are good. I did leave not feeling super full. I wish they would offer some starchy veggies or put more protein on the bowl. As for atmosphere, it's trendy and modern and small. The staff was friendly. The girl who helped me tried to help me through the process and explain, but she got really twisted about it. I felt bad for her because the concept really isn't that complicated. Poke bowls are among my favorite things to seek out when visiting bigger cities, so I was thrilled to learn that Springfield was finally about to get one and immediately made plans to check it out. As expected, the variety of offerings on hand don't compare to what you would see in a Denver or a San Diego, but the food was of top-notch freshness, and inarguably delicious. I had a salmon bowl (2x the meat!) with all the veggies and sriracha mayo. It was fantastic, as was the cup of miso I ordered to go. And although I can't speak for it myself, a friend who accompanied me on the visit was thrilled with the selection of teas. Like most of these establishments, it's a counter-order operation, but a well-staffed one with lots of friendly people working. All that said, I'd be remiss in my Yelpy duties if I didn't mention how awkward the building's accessibility is. Parking and the actual entrance are on the back side, facing away from Sunshine, and when you get ready to leave, the only exit is onto East Sunshine. As close as this place is to the intersection with National, the odds you'll ever be able to make a left turn out of the parking lot are basically zero, so smart drivers will need to plan ahead (and probably rely on the mercy of people established in the lane to even be able to turn right). The development looks like it's still under construction, so hopefully some of that will improve as this and other businesses within gain popularity. For now, the food is good enough that I'll definitely be back regardless. read more

You can order sushi or do bowls with sushi ingredients. We go for bowl but find the menu signs above the order area hard to see since they are very high on the wall. They have little hand written signs above the station but they are a bit disjointed. Long story short think like a build to order sub shop. You pick your meat, your veg, your sauce, and boom. Sushi bowl. The lady picked tuna and after I saw the quality sushi grade tuna I did too. They give the bowls what I feel was a generous portion of meat so big plus there. I went for the quinoa, Tuna, Carrot, Cucumber, wasabi aioli, topped off with tempora cruchies. GO FOR THE CRUCHIES. Flavor booms. Over all we ended up really enjoying it with me giving it a solid 3 stars and the Lady saying 4. The Good Sushi indigence.. in a bowl. Good prices. CRUNCHIES! Kind of hip location. Worthy of 5 stars for Springfield, but hard to stack Craft Sushi up against some of the more authentic poke joints I've had on the West coast and in major cities like Houston or Denver. So glad to see a poke place in Springfield! The ingredients were fresh and bright. The tuna and salmon poke bowl with house greens was a delight.
