I love a good Southern spot with classic meat-and-three options((in this case two)), and this restaurant delivered that same homey, comforting vibe -- plus a bar, which was a nice touch! The line was long, but they kept things moving with someone taking orders, which made the process efficient. We didn't get a chance to actually see the food line until we got closer to the front but if we had, we would've chosen something different. Still, our meal overall was good. The greens and the rice with gravy could've used a bit more flavor.The red velvet cake, unfortunately, was a 0/5 for me. This was my first time visiting them and they didn't disappoint! Everybody in this establishment was friendly and attentive. They were so many options i couldn't decide at first but i ended up with the oxtail plate. First thing all my side were so fresh and hot, it was like when you sneakily eat them straight from the pot while burning your mouth slightly. The tase was delicious tho. My first visit. A friend recommended that I visit and try the food. Friday evening, traffic was heavy but I was able to pull in a park near the entrance, that's always a plus. There was a good calm vibe when I walked through the door. I didn't know there was a bar but everyone seemed relaxed and mature. The space seemed accommodating for a small group or a date. There was a short line. The servers were very pleasant and welcoming to the customers, no rushing or made to feel as though you were taking too long to decide on you food items. Friday seems to be fish day, cooked to order. There were fresh meats and vegetables on the hot bar with enough meat items to choose from. I chose a vegetable plate/ plate with sides. Let me tell you this!!! Mama Nem, put their foot in that food!!! All of the food looked and smelled good. The macaroni and cheese tasted like your Big Mama grated that cheese and cooked those noodles, not unthawed and warmed up. I will definitely be back for a meal. I enjoyed the food and service. There was 1 man walking around the restaurant with a beer and he stopped to talked to us. At first it was ok but he kept coming back and he seemed drunk. He then touched my friend shoulder and tried to touch her boob. We told the owner and he handled it right away for us. So all in all service was 10 out of 10. Whenever we have a family reunion on my dad's side of the family, the last day (Sunday) is always spent at my home church. For our most recent reunion, we had Mama Nem catered for our meal. We had chicken, baked and fried, macaroni and cheese, greens, and cornbread. Firstly, the fried chicken was delicious! It was seasoned and fried perfectly. The greens were delicious too, not too salty but definitely seasoned very well. The macaroni and cheese was also very delicious. It wasn't too hard or chewy, something I dislike about some, but it also had a very nice cheese flavor. Additionally, working with them for the catering process was amazing. They were extremely kind and accommodating for our family and this large meal. My parents visited once before our reunion and told me that they loved it so I had high hopes when I heard they were catering. They did not disappoint. I plan to go very soon to try some of their other meals as its definitely high up on restaurants I want to try. read more

I've never had a bad batch and i've been 5x's. the grits are perfect and the sides are prepared well and the service is excellent. All of the waitresses are very attentive and friendly. We were traveling to Panama City, Fla., and stopped to have dinner at this restaurant after checking in at a nearby hotel. The service in this restaurant was top rate. Employees met and greeted you as you walked in the door. The owner was also present to greet and converse with guests as well as cook. The food was hot. I don't mean warm from a steam table, but served hot and fresh. The service was so on point and the employees were so attentive. It was hard to believe that good service was happening in the year 2025. The restaurant was clean and well maintained. I ordered catfish with my dinner and it is cooked to order and brought to your table when ready, which wasn't longer than 8-10 minutes, tops. My date thoroughly enjoyed the pork chops as well. We both took our leftovers back to the hotel and had a good breakfast the next morning. I ate my catfish and wings cold from the fridge, they were still delicious. I'd rather eat it cold than destroy them in the microwave. They also had desserts and a full service bar that we didn't try. The food had us in a daze. To sum up this dining experience is easy. It was good common soul food that obviously included the taste of love from the hands that cooked and served it. And most times you only get that at home! Went to check it out after seeing it opened. The ambiance is solid. The line while long wasn't the worst and definitely worth the wait. The staff were friendly and helpful considering the long line they had. The air must have not been on though because it was very hot and stuffy waiting in line. Once there I got two plates each with a meat and 2 sides. A few options I wanted to try but were sold out mainly the oxtails and turkey wings. I got catfish and pork chops. Both were excellent. Well sized portions and flavorful. Sides I got the greens which were a tad spicy to me but well cooked still. The mashed potatoes were what you expect nothing out the ordinary but not bad. The candy yams were okay but you may like them more. The standout sides to me were the dressing and Mac n cheese. I'd go back just for those sides and the meats. I'd definitely recommend. read more

Very disappointed in my visit today. My family of three came in they don't have a children's menu please be aware of that before you come with a child. She had two chicken legs and mashed potatoes, so not a meat and TWO sides which is what we were charged for. There's a sign on the clear divider that says before two pm your meal is 12.99 after 2pm it goes up to 16.99. Apparently that's only Monday thru Thursday but it's NOT clearly stated. I asked our waitress (which I fault her for nothing, she did the best she could with what she had available)about this and she said she would get the manager I guess he didn't feel that my concerns were important enough for him to address in person so he sent our waitress back to let me know what I previously typed. To me the greens were bland, the hamburger steak was ok but the gravy way very thin. All in all this was not worth $62.00 to me. I'm not sure if the employees are the ones who did the previous reviews but man I'm so dissatisfied with this visit. Should've just went to eagles restaurant. read more
