We didn't get to order any of the rotisserie chickens because they had just opened and said it would take 1.5 hours until chicken is ready. We ended up ordering ceviche mixto (recommend!), skirt steak with pesto pasta, parihuela (mixed seafood soup, very rich), causa rellena (whipped potatoes with chicken/tuna, and arroz chaufa (Peruvian fried rice). The veal heart was very tasty, similar consistency to a piece of steak. The octopus was just ok, a little overcooked. Both apps were served with potatoes and corn. Mama Pisco is one of our favorite spots for flavorful Peruvian food and great energy. My husband and I usually order the pisco sour, lomo saltado, tallarín verde, and leche de tigre -- everything is consistently delicious, well-balanced, and full of flavor. Portions are generous and the price is very reasonable for the quality you get. They sometimes have live music, which adds such a fun and lively touch to the experience. That said, the restaurant is quite small, so during dinner rush you may have to wait. (We try to go in before the rush) I'm not sure if they take reservations, but booking ahead (if possible) might help avoid this. Came here for dinner with some friends. The staff was friendly. The restaurant isnt that big but had seating inside and outside. The menu wasnt huge but had a good selection of food. We ordered the calamari and octopus appetizers. The octopus had a nice flavor. We were able to cut it with a butter knife but wish they gave us a steak knife so it was easier. We ordered a couple of entrees. My favorite was the steak. It was a lot bigger than i expected. We got to choose 3 sides and opted for two order plantains and 1 order yuca fries. The steak was tender and not tough. It was a tad over cooked since we ask for medium rare and got more of a medium. I wanted to like the paella but it was too strong in cilantro flavor in the rice. The seafood was really fresh though. For dessert we got flan and the cookies. My friend order 3 since she thought they were going to be small. The octopus was quite good.. it was served on a sizzling plate and had a red sauce on it, like you would normally get on the anticichos. It came with a couple of slices of papa's a la haunciani.. that was delicious... the chaufa was fine. The jallea was the star. It had fish in it, and that was delicious. The food was absolutely delicious! I had the combo with ceviche and calamari. It was very citrusy, flavorful, and they were able to adjust the spicyness level to my liking (which is very spicy). My husband had the rotisserie chicken with beans and fried yuca- also delicious. The environment was clean and lively. It's a beautiful spot! It's dark and intimate with Instagrammable signs inside. They have Peruvian lager beer, Cusquena. There's a menu of great signature drinks: tirimisu martini, , Pisco sour, chicha morada with pisco, margarita, pina colada, mojito. It's perfect for a family celebration or holding a birthday party! I love the music inside. When I arrived this past weekend, there was a live music performance by a singer. I walked in with my friends yesterday night. We were able to get a table outside. They do take reservations. The chefs plated the meals beautifully. My friends and I ordered leche de tigre (ceviche), lomo saltado (sirloin beef with rice and fries), arroz con mariscos (rice with seafood), tallarines verde con bistec (pesto pasta with skirt steak). My favorite meal chosen was the tallarines verde, because of the creamy sauce and the yummy flavor of the steak. So good! I liked the quality of the food and the freshness of the squid and shrimp in the arroz con mariscos. Our drinks were delicious and strongly made. Agreed with some Yelpers. Although really popular, the space is cozy, and luckily, there were some seats outside which we accepted since we traveled far to try this spot given the positive reviews. It was a bit chilly, and fortunately, they had these heat lamps which were nice. The waitresses were helpful especially Leidy who checked in on us. The only downside was that the dishes did take a while to show up, which made sense when after observing the huge birthday party that showed up while we were figuring out what to order. I saw that gratuity was already attached to the check. The bathroom was downstairs and was fairly clean. And I would definitely return and try more items as it was the food that attracted us here in the first place. I went to Mama Pisco on a Sunday night for dinner. I was craving Peruvian food and was on the way back from Corona. The restaurant is small, kind of narrow, with limited seating. It was incredibly crowded for early on a Sunday night, but we were able to be seated at the only open table. There was live singing when I went. Be warned that the restaurant is very loud. The service was good, no issues. I tried the following dishes: Causa Rellena with Chicken (4/5): This was a tasty causa. The potato was nicely flavored, and the chicken was good. The olive flavor was a little more than I would've liked, but it was a very good dish. Ceviche de Pescado (4.5/5) I enjoyed this very much. The fish tasted fresh, the sauce was citrusy and flavorful. Arroz Chaufa with Chicken (4.5/5): This was also a great dish. The rice was flavorful, and the portion was large. The chicken was a little dry, but there was tofu, which was good. I love this place! This is my third time coming, and every time the food has been consistent. The service is excellent, drinks are always consistent (Pisco Sour is my fave and a must!) and the food is to die for. My recommendations: the Peruvian chicken (Rotisserie style), the Halea (my favorite thing), and the veggie arroz chaufa! Soooooo good. You cannot go wrong with either of these. The Halea is a fried seafood dish. Packed with flavor, fresh seafood and crispy yuca. If you do not get anything else get this! Spectacular. We just moved to the area and this is our new go to spot. The food had an ok taste but for instance lomo saltado had literary 4 very small pieces of meat with mostly rice, onions and saggy fries. I also ordered ceviche mixto and this also had very little seafood with mostly onions. The third dish salchi papas, there were literary 6 very small pieces of a hot dog with mostly frozen and saggy French fries. My new thing is whenever visiting Long Island, on the way home, I want to stop in what I believe to be one of the most culinary hubs in the country and maybe even the world for either quick snack or meal, Queens. I would say it checks all the boxes for a good date night spot. It's not spacious and although there's a bar, it's very small with only 3 stools. It's not a place I'd want to hang out at for drinks and appetizers with a group. I really found all the food and drink to be excellent. I got the mama pisco mule and we started with the fried calamari. It was perfectly battered and delicious served with thinly sliced red onions and the famous green Peruvian sauce. I'm not sure if fried calamari with marinara will taste as good anymore to me. For my dinner I got the tallarines verde con bistec. It's a beautiful vibrant looking dish. The pasta sauce gives tastes like a less rich pesto and the skirt steak was tender. For dessert we had a really great piece of tres leche cake. I would definitely return to this restaurant, maybe even hit up their karaoke night if I didn't live so far. You can't go wrong if you are in the mood for Peruvian. read more

But they failed to finish their table, we didn't see them until it was time for the Cheque. There is a 6.5% service fee added onto the bill, not sure what this is for but a service fee means gratuity.
