    Pisco Sour

Welcome to Broadway! We love to see another Peruvian restaurant in Astoria. We were finally able to come here on Wednesday since they had recently just opened and were not disappointed. I started off with the typical Peruvian drink; a pisco sour and for appetizers we shared anticuchos and papa a la huancaina. For the main course, we had the churrasco a lo pobre. We were so full we could not fit dessert. The decor is so pretty, the waitress was attentive, answered all our questions and lastly the food was amazing. Being Peruvian makes us a little more judgmental when visiting these restaurants BUT I have to admit this place hit the nail on the coffin. The anticuchos were juicy, cooked to perfect as well as the papa a la huancaina had the perfect creamyness and spices. I will definitely be back with my parents soon to try their ceviche and other dishes. https://anclabar.com/menu Thank you for having us!

Quick look: Food 5/5 Service 5/5 Atmosphere 5/5 Stopped by on a Thursday night (we were just cruising Broadway to see what's around) without knowing anything about the place besides the fact that it's Peruvian and I'm glad we did! We were happily greeted by our lovely, jovial host/server Belen who seemed to be running the place with 2-3 other employees (it was a rather empty night, makes sense). We were seated in the "secret garden" (or, their backyard area) and I was immediately struck by how gorgeous the atmosphere was! Romantic, vibrant, and verdant! We have quite a few back areas in Astoria, and this is by far one of the more tastefully decorated spaces. Tables are a li'l small for the size of the food, but that's fine. Also, I love it when restaurants use real candles. More importantly, the food. We ordered: Pulpo Al Olivo (it's big, even for two, don't get anything else for appies if you're getting this. Deliciously seasoned octopus as well as the potatoes and onions. Even better with the picante. Tallarin Verde & Churrasco: I strongly preferred the Tallarin Verde, but both were excellent, large portions, and were absolutely delectable. The pasta and pesto combined well with the steak (ordered medium rare and it was cooked as such!). White Sangria: Fresh fruits, tasted great, visually pleasing. Lucuma Ice Cream: I've never had Lucuma before! It carries a complex flavor that I'd describe as a pleasant mix of citrus, caramel, and maybe a little cinnamon? Delicious. Belen also brought out some frozen passion fruit shots for us and invited us back to the anniversary this Sunday! We will definitely be back. I had quite a different experience from the strange 1-star review about the Happy Hour (homeboy really thought 7pm on a Saturday had an HH?! Also, it says M-F on the sign in front), and I recommend stoppin' by! The menu and drink menu isn't wildly extensive but what they have is good. I'm curious about the seafood though, it seems like their main thing.

Came here for dinner on a Saturday night. Looks like they opened recently, the waitress told me about 6 months. You're missing out if you haven't had a meal here yet! Inside is clean and modern. Was seated right away. The service here is good and the waitresses were so sweet. You get a complimentary nuts and plantain chip appetizer with a green sauce on the side. We ordered the lomo saltado and tallarin verde. Both were so delicious! The tallarín verde noodles were cooked perfectly and the pesto sauce it comes in was sooo good. The steak was also cooked perfectly! The lomo saltado was also delicious. The steak was cooked to medium, the fries went great with the steak and the sauce, onions and tomatoes paired well with the whole dish. I had the red sangria as well. Tons of fruits in the sangria and not overly sweet. Would get again. Would totally come back here to try other dishes again!

What a treat from beginning to end! We went as a group and arrived fairly early on a Saturday evening (around 7pm) and had the whole place to ourselves for a bit. I've had Peruvian food before but some people from our group had not, so the servers were so kind explaining what everything on the menu was. We got the ceviche mixto as a starter and loved the rich, citrus taste. The presentation of the sangria (as pictured) was fantastic and even yummier to taste - one of the best I've had. I will say that the best treat was when the servers sent over a round of pisco shots for us to taste (on the house). We had an incredible experience here and highly recommend for folks visiting New York. Step out to Queens, you won't be disappointed.

    Churrasco a lo Pobre

Saw this place as I was waking by one day and decided to try it. The mixed fusion of Peruvian and Asian is what caused my attention. I opted to try the Peruvian menu and got the Churrasco a lo Pobre which was cooked to my liking. The potatoes were a bit undercooked and the churrasco was placed on top of them which made them a bit soggy. The white right was a bit flavorless but the fried egg added the missing flavor. We came closer to closing time so it was empty but will definitely come back to try more menu items.

Great New Peruvian Restaurant and lounge on Broadway. I ordered a Lomo Saldato de Carne (stir-fried beef), Lucoma ice cream (citrusy with a hint of caramel or maple), ginger ale, and americano. The meal came to $50.63, which wasn't too bad. This newly converted establishment opened up in late fall, and I was there towards the end of October. Besides a restaurant, they are a lounge bar that gives one a sense of a casual hangout and comfort zone, particularly for those in the area that are Peruvian or appreciate Peruvian cuisine, Overall a great experience -I plan to return

FANTASTIC. My Peruvian husband and I love this absolute gem of a place. The ceviche is absolutely top tier (so good that we dug in before taking pictures!) The food is incredible, the staff is lovely, and the atmosphere and vibe is perfectly dim yet upbeat- great for a romantic date, or for a meetup with friends. Definitely also try the sangria, frozen margaritas, and choros a la chalaca! Happy hour until 7pm shouldn't be missed, either.

I did a preorder which doesn't head out until after 1:30pm, The food is delicious and still very hot but I had to struggle with finding utensils to eat the food with since I didn't order it to home. The sauce was a good add to the dish with plenty of egg, octopus, shrimp, pork, beef and vegetables.

We shared Betsy's Mom's Clam Dip, Mushroom Toast, Bitter Greens Salad, Minted Lamb Meatballs, and duck pâté. The meal opened with the clam dip; cool, lush, and briny, with a creamy oceanic richness that coated the palate; followed by a tangy, salty depth that clung to each crunchy bite of bread. The Mushroom Toast followed with deeper savoriness: earthy, almost forest-floor mushrooms, warm and tender, turning silky as they soaked into the bread, while the edges stayed crisp and toasted, adding contrast to the woodsy umami and subtle garlic warmth. The Bitter Greens Salad provided a bright, palate-cleansing break that included crisp and peppery greens with a sharp lemony dressing that snapped on the tongue, layered with faint fennel sweetness and the nutty, salty bite of shaved parmesan. The Minted Lamb Meatballs arrived richer and more comforting, tender and juicy with a gentle gamey depth, lifted by fresh mint that cut through the richness, and a cool, tangy tomato-yogurt sauce that added creaminess and brightness in equal measure. We finished with pâté--silky, dense, and deeply savory, with a faint iron-rich intensity and buttery smoothness, especially when spread on bread with sharp, briny pickles that added crunch and acidity. Each dish felt intentional and well-balanced for sharing, with varied textures and temperatures that built naturally across the table. I'd happily return to explore more of the menu.

The menu is fairly on the basic side - mainly drinks and pastries and there is some sandwiches. We decided to get the hot chocolate with whip cream (the whip cream is very needed). It was very rich, thick and delicious and not "too sweet." The whip cream really makes it more creamy and it does not really add to the sweetness which was good. We also got a side of Salame e Formaggio which I would recommend passing on because the cheese was kind of hard and not that great. The salami was good and honestly I'm not a fan of olives but my friend who liked it enjoyed them. Overall - a cute place to stop by for a hot chocolate and maybe a pastry!

The hot chocolate was reviewed on Instagram as being super rich and decadent, but it was made from a mix that smelled oddly similar to Swiss Miss. the machiatto was also quite watery. Come here for the vibes, but not for the food.

Though they didn't serve the sprite-infused red wines I enjoyed in Spain, they did serve white sangrias, which were light, sweet, and very enjoyable. The toasted bread with tomatoes was bright and summery. The grilled asparagus was cooked wonderfully al dente, with a char that added a nice smoky flavor against the clean taste of the drizzled olive oil. The beef skewers were well seasoned and fatty. While the food was Spanish, the prices certainly were not! It was a tad pricey. There wasn't anything below $13 for their small bites. I chose the shrimp in garlic sauce (oil) that I sopped up with the accompanied bread, the dates wrapped in bacon (they do their own twist by filling it with honey ricotta stuffing and finishing it with a red wine reduction), I also went with cod fish croquettes (the perfect crispness on the outside and a delectable creamy texture of fish inside), I can never pass up the patatas bravas, so, I got those too.
