We booked this hotel specifically for the indoor pool as we wrapped up a 1 month trip in Italy. 1 day before our arrival, they informed us the pool and spa were closed, with no time to book another hotel- our kids were thoroughly disappointed before we even arrived.
Location: Good, walking distance to the Vatican, easily accessible to the metro and the airport.
Rooms: Good, clean, modern, comfortable beds and nice bathroom (we stayed in an "XL room"
Food: Not good. No room service, you must order to go food in boxes and take it to your room. By the time we got all the food (boxes came out at 3 different times) and got to the room- all the boxes had soggy bottoms either from oil or melted ice cream! We asked for 2 orders of JUST fresh fruit, which they put gelato on and it was a big wet mess.
Rooftop food- pasta was good, hummus was water and inedible, focaccia sandwich was nothing to write home about (better elsewhere!)
At checkout, our flights were canceled and I asked to book 1 more night - after reception spoke to the reservations line, first they told me there's 1 medium room available and they would see if they could get me an XL then they came back and said they have to give the 1 available room to another person and they're fully booked. So, i logged into Expedia to find another hotel for the night and the first available hotel was Mama Shelter and they had 4 different room types available- meaning a lot more than just 1 room was available for the night.
The staff made an already stressful morning even more work and stress. I booked an XL room (same we were in) and the reception told me we would probably have to move to a different room because ours was assigned to another guest. As that guest hadn't checked in yet (it was 9am and we had not checked out) I asked if we could just stay and if they could give our new room to the other guest but the girl said she couldn't confirm. Finally, I came back an hour later and another girl said yes we could stay in our room.
Not a pleasant experience from start to finish. read more
