    Barbacoa Tacos with verde sauce
    Naomi B.

Being from San Antonio, I'm picky about my Mexican food. Mama Veras is my favorite spot in the DFW area. We come often over the past year and they never disappoint. Small family-run food truck business, super friendly and quick, but if they have a long line, they are very well worth the wait. They are usually outside our Major Perk coffee shop (another phenomenal spot) but sometimes they cater elsewhere and aren't there, understandably so. Pictured is their barbacoa tacos. Their pastor tacos are also delicious, and so is everything else they make. Their seasonal tamale plate is to die for.

I had observed them on Centerpoint Road for a while, but it was never convenient to stop. This morning was a good opportunity to pick up breakfast and I found the prior very positive reviews were right on point - very friendly and informative service by the owner and our breakfast tacos were delicious. We had the bacon, bacon con chile, and chorizo and are looking forward to trying their other selections.

Mama Vera's never disappoints. Fantastic food and always consistent. Had the Shrimp Diablo special and it was incredible.

The tacos have been consistently delicious, the macho nachos have been amazing, the beer is cold, and the staff has always been friendly and professional. The atmosphere is really chill and we even have a favorite booth. However, over the past few months, we have noticed a drastic downward trend of both food quality, and availability of menu items. I'm not sure what the issue is, but it has not been an isolated event. They have consistently not had flour tortillas, chicken, steak, or even french fries. Over half of their menu is consistently absent and the food they do have, has been poorly prepared and of cheap quality. I've loved going to the Cantina and do not post this with any feeling of satisfaction. I have not rushed to my keyboard at the first sign of something displeasing. I'm only posting this because I hope the problems can be fixed and the Cantina returns to what everyone has come to expect: great food, great servers, great prices, and a great atmosphere. Until that happens, I can't justify spending money on what is now, a consistently poor culinary experience.

Both of them pair well with whatever you order. They provide you with 2 salsas one of each with your order. I ordered 3 tacos and got two salsas. Today I ordered 6 tacos and asked for more than the two they provided. So he charged me .50 cents for each extra salsa I ordered! I don't mind paying for the extras as long as I can get what I want! But I believe it's reasonable to assume that the more tacos you ordered you would get a couple of more salsa's with the order? I do understand a small business watching the controls as some customers would take as much as they can get for free! I'm just a person who really likes my Mexican food to be drenched in salsa! I normally use one container per taco if I'm able to get it? Sometimes it's a hit and miss? But like I said I don't mind the extra charges for the salsa cups I wanted! I just think two cups is just not enough for 6 tacos and this time it was hard to pay that price! He did give me the taco Tuesday prices but by the time I paid for the extra salsa it made it regular price so I guess I save $2 so that's something Go check them out they i'm at dialysis have a drive thru and are fairly quick with the orders and I've like everything I've tried so far! Just keep in mind the extra charge for the salsa as it's posted on the menu board as well
