Beef fajita enchiladas, this could be a very good dish except...they don't put cheese in them! Ok a little bit but it's really a rolled up tortilla. The other thing is we ordered and no lie 3 minutes later our plates where on the table. Had there been any cheese in the enchiladas it wouldn't have had time to melt. Our margaritas took twice as long to get to us as the food. 4 tables taken so it's not being busy. If you are going to charge me $14 for two enchiladas put in some cheese. read more

We stopped in for a late lunch on a weekday. We were greeted and seated promptly, and soon after we brought chips and salsa which were good. He ordered the enchilada plate and I ordered chicken fajitas both from the lunch menu. The food came out quickly. His plate looked delicious and he reported it was good. My fajitas were screaming hot! Sadly they had little flavor and the chicken was so tough I couldn't eat most of it. I'm not sure I'll be back, but maybe the secret is don't get fajitas. Ordered chili relleno and it was terrible. The "crust" was dark brown, burned and tasted like cake batter. After I removed that, I found a small, halved chili with almost no meat in it. Won't be back. The staff was nice. read more

Food- I would recommend the charro beans and cowboy tacos with grilled jalapeños on the side. The shrimp and fish soup was a bit bland in my opinion. The verde enchiladas also could have used a bit of spice. Service- The bartender was very rude and many other service members were snappy and standoffish. However our waitress was extremely nice even being new and made up for it. Everything took a long time to get. Waiting for a table took 10 minutes extra than what they said, it took about 25 to 30 minutes to get our appetizer and the food came out another 20 minutes later. Also it took a while for the check to come. It was a Friday night though, so give them grace with all the people in there. Ambiance- it was crowded and packed with many tables. My menu was dirty, but the table was clean. I didn't get a chance to use the restroom so I'm not sure about that. It's a B Mexican restaurant and for this area it's one of the few Tex-Mex restaurants around. read more

I tried to tell the waitress of the error but she didn't hear me talking to her and she walked away. When she discovered her error, she said sorry, was good though right? This is my favorite spot for ceviche. However, recently I ordered ceviche tostada to go and I was very disappointed in the tiny amount of ceviche for a 7.00 tostada. I am not sure why serving amounts and quality greatly differ from their other locations. The best location is stock yards location. We ate here tonight. Sat in Bar area. On top of the food being marginal (cheese enchiladas were cold) I had a two inch chicken BONE in my chicken enchiladas. I told the guy up front and he said he would mention to manager. No apology. No offer to get the manager. Service was slow as lots were standing around watching soccer match. We are done. Not very busy for a Saturday evening dinner. Now I know why! We were seated in a section with an overwhelmed server. She was very abrupt in taking our drink order, took forever to bring said drinks. By the time our food arrived, they failed to bring out our appetizer order (queso). I politely waived at the 2 hostesses up front in hopes someone would come to our table, but they just smiled and went back to looking at tgeir phone screens. I had to go to the hostess to ask for a new glass of unsweetened tea because ours had floaties. Hostess proceeded to challenge me by saying they were lemon seeds, I let her know we didn't have lemons with our tea. I rhen asked for a different server and for them to just cancel our queso since we were midway thru our dinner. The food was subpar. Beef fajitas were ok. Shredded beef flaunts were edible. The surf and turf (Mar y Tierra) had 3 small shrimp and the toughest piece of flank steak ever. Salad on all entrees was wilted. So, while many establishments are struggling, you stumble across these that don't really care. That was a $75 meal down the drain and experience to remember not to return to this location. read more

I wanted to give some love to La Playa Maya Hudson Oaks I had lunch there today. The food (beef enchiladas, crispy taco, cheese taco, rice and beans) was tasty, I really enjoyed the beef in the taco. It left my fingers with a little grease on them after each bite. Some may not like that but that is how I know I'm eating a good taco!! The salsa had a nice heat to it, it left your mouth warm and caused a slight run of the nose (lol) but it was enjoyable and tasty also (not too hot). The service and atmosphere was great.
