All of our usual Mexican food spots were closed, so we ended up here. We were able to be seated right away, and our servers were very nice. The chips were meh, but we did like our tacos, and loved the rice. My order was messed up, but they were able to fix it quickly once I was able to flag someone down and were very apologetic about it. Had a girls night out dinner here and everything was so delicious! The coconut margarita - wow! Highly recommend! The mango mojito was also excellent. Everyone raved about their food. I had a rice bowl with chicken al pastor - it was perfectly balanced with rice, chicken, corn salsa, guacamole, queso, shredded cheese... best rice bowl I've had in a very long time! I want to start by saying the service here isn't the best. They don't have a host and people were lined up the door, the service is very slow and it felt rushed. I had strawberry margarita it wasn't enjoyable at all, I wasn't a fan, it some weird taste in it. I had the chicken tacos and chicken egg roll both were decent not bad. Food was great as always. Server was nice and attentive UNTIL we had an issue with trying to use a school purchased discount card and a gift card for payment. Was told you could not use both, even though I already paid for the gift card, plus the couple we were with did it with no problem. Server became very short when I asked to see a manager. We waited almost 30 minutes and no manager, nor did the server speak to us again. I called to her on 3 occasions when she walked by and she completely ignored me. We went to the bar, asked another server to see a manager, she said she would get them. Again, no manager and our server continued to ignore us. Worst, most rude treatment we have ever had by a establishment, which is sad because we frequent your restaurant and have always supported you by buying gift cards, enjoying your specials, etc. We finally left as no one was going to help us. Stopped by for some lunch and it was our first time visiting here. We started with the Chorizo and cheese and chips and the corn fritters. The chorizo and cheese was our favorite of the 2 appetizers. Tasted great and went well with the lightly salted chips. The corn fritter were very flat and we expected more of a thicker type of fritter. We both tried a Steak Frita taco and it was very delicious, no complaint's there and would definitely recommend. I ordered the chicken and shrimp Rum Runner. It was different from anything I've had and was absolutely delicious. The shrimp were a very nice size and the chicken was well cooked. Also had corn rice, beans and guacamole. The guacamole is very flavorful. My friend got the enchiladas and also liked them. They even gave her extra sauce when she asked for a to go box so they didn't soak up all the sauce in the fridge and be dry. Absolutely will eat here again! I was visiting from out of town and we decided to come here for some drinks and apps. There were just two of us so we sat at the bar. We were the only people sitting at the bar, so we had no trouble finding seats. Initially, the atmosphere is cute. A lot of windows, cute decor, bright colors, etc. Unfortunately, the initial appearance was short lived after a not so nice greeting from the bartender. I'm always extra friendly and figured she was just having a bad day, but it made things super uncomfortable. We soon found that her shift was just about ending; we knew this because instead of asking if we needed anything else, she just asked if we wanted the check since her shift was ending. I politely declined and mentioned we planned on staying. She wasn't happy about that and walked away. Luckily, the next bartender was super friendly and at least greeted us with a smile and a hello. The rest of our service was fine. The chips and salsa trio were great, and I liked that they had different types of salsa. We also ordered some sort of corn fritter, which was just okay to me. I do agree with some of the other reviewers, in the margaritas being a bit pricey, seeing that some of them come out of a machine.. but overall, a generally nice place for this area. read more

We live right around the corner from Mamacita's and finally got to try it last night. We started out with the corn fritters with chipotle aioli and they were awesome. We also ordered a pitcher of the frozen margaritas. Our pitcher of margaritas was STRONG and we loved the black salt on the rims. They had a big party of 15 coming in, and asked if we would move tables to accommodate them, we did and the waitress (Madison) was nice enough to cover the app as compensation. My wife had the birria tacos and I had the birria eggrolls. They were both delicious and the consommé to dip in was rich and juicy. Service from Madison was polite and friendly. We love it when a server is genuinely nice and not just buttering us up for a big tip. I love sitting by the garage doors and watching everyone walk by. Bathrooms were clean, food was delicious and the price was just right for a last minute date night. We will definitely return and heard that the basement will have a speakeasy in the near future! read more

I love the new Modern-Mex twist to the Trenton area. We have a few Mexican cookie cutter restaurants downriver however , this place has ambience, a great bar , and amazing food . I have eaten here several times, we love to try a new dish every time. You will not be disappointed. I recommend for starters Chorizo Queso, jalapeño poppers with raspberry sauce, and the spicy guacamole. The dinner options I have had are the Mexican Pizza, Bria Tacos, Bria quesadilla, The Donkey Burrito, and Mexican Lasagna!! Food was extremely bland. Fiancé said he couldn't eat most of his carnitas plate because it was under seasoned and the carnitas were mostly fat. I had the quesabirria, served with some sort of red sauce instead of the consome that goes with birria. The quesadilla part was extremely bland. We tried them the week they opened at lunch time and there was only one other couple there so we expected the food to be solid. It was not, won't be back unless I have more people tell me they completely changed. So far almost every one I know who has gone didn't care for the food. This is by far one of my fav Mexican places. Large menu options and you can order online easily. Portion sizes are large so plenty for left overs. Garage doors are open in the summertime for fresh air. Waitresses have always been friendly and food is pretty quick. You should definitely give it a try! To be fair we went there on their 3rd. Day after opening. The ambiance is nice with great decor and once the weather warms up, the garage doors will be open! The service by our server, Keisha, was outstanding. The food was the one area needing attention. Chips and salsa are NOT complimentary, which was rather disappointing. My husband loves guacamole and was surprised the small condiment size bowl was expensive $9 and very small. Two strikes so far. We're used to Mexican restaurants in Georgia, where they make a large bowl in front of you at your table. They definitely need to rethink the guacamole portions and costs. My husband got a mixed meat taco plate, with pork, chicken and steak on corn tortillas. The entree he received was tasty and filling. A large portion. I got a ground beef quesadilla and it was saturated in grease. The cook needed to drain the meat before putting it into the tortilla. Said it came with lettuce and tomato but they weren't in the quesadillas, just a side. We'll give them another chance because they're new. Kudos to Trenton city planners who've added this restaurant and a tavern attached to it. They share the same kitchen. read more

Went last night stood in line behind a few people waiting no one bothered to tell customers it was seat yourself nor was there a sign. Finally sat down and ordered, my margarita looked disgusting but tasted mediocre (they use black salt), paid $6 for a very small portion of chips and salsa, got the fajitas and found it odd that they didn't come with any cheese. Overall my meal was bland, overpriced, and customer service could use some work. On a positive note it has a good atmosphere. I'll give them a few more months before giving them a second try. read more

The food was good, we ordered the Mamacita Rita (1/10) & the micheladas and I would say the drinks were 3/10. The micheladas need ice! That's the number one thing it's missing. A michelada should be cold, not warm. The margarita was missing something, not good. Overall, the place was very nice & the food was good. Beans could've been better. Tortillas were amazing. Overall giving it a 3/5. Also, it's seat yourself, they should put a sign up, because we stood around and no one came up to us. read more

The jumbo margarita usually is delicious, but tonite I don't think it had any alcohol in it. I'm a light weight and usually halfway thru I have to pass it to my husband to finish. Not tonite. 1 star is being nice. This was by far the worst restaurant experience I've ever had. Service is horrible. It is seat yourself - I'm telling you because there is no sign and the wait staff doesn't even acknowledge you. We waited about 30 minutes for a table on a Saturday, which was to be expected. What was not expected was the 15 minute wait once we were seated for a waitress to even come over - or the hour and 15 minute wait to get our food once our order was placed. 3 different waitresses came over to our table to ask us if we ordered the drinks they were holding - nobody had any idea what was going on in that place. They brought out the wrong food at first - then brought out my right dish I ordered which was the birria tacos and there were more huge chunks of fat than there was meat. Disgusting. Went for the first time last night. The food took a long time to come out and when I grabbed my fork to dig in m, it was dirty. We couldn't get the waitress attention to get a new one so we went up to the front to get new flatware. My food was awful. Could not eat much of anything but the rice. The meat didn't taste right and the lettuce tasted like chemicals. One of the items on the combo platter was rock hard but covered in some sort of gravy. My wife said hers was incredibly salty. We ate, finished our drinks and our plates were cleared before the waitress ever came back to see if we were good. She even commented on how she was "busy raising hell" in the back and was not friendly whatsoever. Here's my review. I know they are new! Got there and ordered a drink and a app. Took about 15 min for my drink and never got my app till after my food came. I ordered fajitas and got the plate and tortillas, never got let, Tom, or guacamole. I tried to wave the waitress down with no luck. Had to walk to a the bar. Service was horrible. I seen other tables finish there food and get rice and beans 10 min after. After we ordered server never came back so we could get more drinks. I would say they had about 1/3 tables full. A few Sundays a go we decided to try this place. Well we walked in and there was just one other table occupied. Odd for a nice fall day. It took 10 min for someone to take out drink order 10 minutes to get the drink. Then when we got our appetizer (queso) it was basically cold. So NO excused place was not crowded so between service and the food i don't recommend. Sad because I had high hopes for this place. Management needs to figure it out i guess. read more
