Maui Sunrise Bowl
Hannah F.

Stopped by here for a refreshing afternoon treat at the recommendation of a friend who is a Waco local. This is a cute place with ample seating and it appeared to be a favorite among locals as everyone was stopping by when they got out of school and everything. Having never been to a smoothie bowl please before, I asked for an explanation of the menu and London was super sweet and very helpful and took time to explain everything and to point out her favorites on the menu. I ended up getting the Maui Sunrise bowl and my husband got the Maui Sunrise smoothie. It was a refreshing, tart combination of fruit that wasn't overly sweet and was the perfect afternoon pick-me-up. The bowl was great because the sweetened of the granola and the fresh fruit perfectly balanced the tartness of the smoothie. We will try to stop by next time we are in town.

The Ohana bowl was delicious and l workers were also super friendly! The place was also very clean. The iced coffee was great and had the perfect amount of ice. Cold but not too much ice.

Mamaka Bowls has always been a classic go-to spot for me and my classmates! The açaí is flavorful, the granola is made in-house and is fresh and crunchy, and the combinations of bowls they created are skillfully crafted. It has an aesthetic beachy vibe which makes it such a great place to sit outside and catch up with a friend instead of getting coffee. I ordered the Ohana (in the middle of the photo) and was more than satisfied with the tasty fruity fashion (my favorite). The staff is kind, you can tweak the order to get what you want, and they are fast and efficient! My only problem is that it is very expensive when getting a regular-sized bowl (~$11) so it makes it hard to justify going often, but when I do it is worth it.

This was one of my favorite spots for a healthy treat during college -- and I'm so glad to see it's still doing well! The location is great! There's plenty of free parking nearby, and lots of patio space to spread out and chow down. If the weather is nice, you can take your bowl or smoothie across the street and enjoy it right by the Brazos River. I've had several delicious items from their menu, but during my last visit, I had to indulge in their Pumpkin Bowl. This was a fun fall treat -- topped with cacao, coconut, banana, and cinnamon. My only critique is that the smoothie itself could have been even more pumpkin-y! It was a nice subtle flavor - but I would have loved a more intense taste. If I ordered this bowl again, I would've also added some peanut butter on top, for a little extra crunch. You can't go wrong with any other item on their menu - my favorites from my college days were "The Babe" and "The Mac." Whether you live in Waco, or you're in town visiting, definitely don't miss out on Mamaka!

First time trying these bowls. It was the perfect treat after a walk across the river. I loved it. The shop was cute too. We're not locals so it was a satisfying find. Service was excellent.

My first bowl ever! Now I'm obsessed. I got the koko and added coconut. It was chocolatey and refreshing. It's practically a dessert with some healthy things added. I was so happy to see dfw now has one of these spots! I would highly recommend giving them a try.

The delicious Mamaka Bowl in focus! Quality fruit!

Surfer vibes, aesthetically pleasing views, super friendly service, trendy merch and good acai bowls found here! I've been visiting a handful of times for their bowls. I enjoy the 'Mamaka' with no bananas. The atmosphere will be very loud at busier times, so feel free to eat in the car or take a stroll if that's a concern. Their granola is a bit saltier than I'd like, but the sweetness of the bowl helps. I can't find any nutritional info or statements on their website, so i'm not if the sweetness is from natural sugars, or refined / artificial sugars. Their fruit toppings are always delicious and picked with quality. Never seen a moldy fruit. They have restrooms for customers and a couple neat swings too. I recommend a visit!

Probably one of the best bowls I had. I'm from Dallas and this place is better than a lot I have had.

Just stopped by while in town looking for a place with coffee and a snack. They have a really mellow vibe and were helpful to decide what to order and what's most popular. Really loved "The Gnarly" coffee. Even though their espresso machine was out of order they made it with drip coffee and iced!

Their smoothie bowls are the best I've had from a restaurant and their granola is super special.

Let's put this Lighthouse on your radar!…read more There's no rough waters here. In fact, there's an abundance of festive drinks (with and without alcohol) that will keep you afloat. If you are like me, you'll have no idea where to take your order but don't stress -- a good-natured barista who will help your lost coffee mariner self and navigate you toward a safe harbor. I was guided toward a Coconut Milk Latte with their House Syrup! It was safe, yet adventurous as they have a homemade special House Syrup. Also, it was the exact caffeinated aid I needed to make it through the day. :D Hope the Lighthouse Coffee & Wine will beacon you in!

Their muffins used to be large, moist, and reasonably priced. Now, they are over $6, tiny, tough, and just not good, despite having a decent amount of blueberries, which is awful when I used to LOVE the others. What's worse is that none of the prices were posted, and likely because it would be offensive to charge. Not even Chip and Jo charge that much at a tourist spot and theirs are much bigger. For $13, my specialty latte cost less than a very small muffin, which the guy at the counter (who didn't offer to heat it or anything) tried to explain were that much because they come from a bakery like they didn't always. His tone was condescending, which was off putting when most people would find this change to be insulting to long time customers who expect more from a local place. It's no wonder they were so empty when it used to be packed. Overcharging for this and trying to explain it as a "small business" upcharge is disrespectful to locals and tourists. Plenty of local places have great goods like Street Dog (their muffins are AWESOME and fairly priced). Even Magnolia has products with price tags that are worth the money and service that does not talk down to people when noticing a significant change. I bought it feeling used and never going back. Rather go to a place with no baked goods than one that has lost its way.

Both were very good! Got the tonkatsu black ramen from Domo 1 it was heavy garlic but I personally liked that. Egg was a little harder than some other ramen eggs, but overall a good amount of food for the price. At CurryUp got the pad Thai with chicken - very good flavor. Not a huge serving size but plenty enough for 1 person. Overall the food hall is great - lots of options, students eating dinner so you can see what the like. Minor downside is parking - the lot was full when we came on a not-too-busy Sunday night, but we got street parking easily. Overall a great stop in Waco!
