Delicious as always! This is the first time I've actually dined at this location despite it being the closest one to my home. We had a group of 9 in celebrating some family birthdays. There were plenty of table seating options and it wasn't overly busy. We ordered cheese, Canadian bacon, meatball, and pepperoni pizzas. Definitely something for everyone and it wasn't overly busy cooked to perfection. I'm taking a point away for cleanliness of the restroom and what I noticed behind the bar. Called in an order for a large pizza, spelled out my name and was told it would be ready in 30 min. My husband stops by to pick up the order and the lady in the counter is being rude, charged an incorrect order and tells him there's nothing she can't do because she doesn't know how to reverse the order. I've been going to Mama's for years with both small and big groups. The service is usually fine, it's more of a place where you just go up and ask for what you need instead of having full table service. Some employees seem to not be so happy sometimes. Went with a group this time and all the food came out together. We had ordered salads thinking we'd get those first, but the pizza showed up before anything else and we had to ask if they had the salads and cheese bread ready. Really good pizza and wings. The creamy garlic ranch house dressing is good and not overwhelming. The kid's mac and cheese was above average. It was well made and had good flavor. The service was good - orders were placed at the counter/bar and the food was brought to our table using a number system. Plates, silverware, condiments and to go containers were conveniently located for self serve. We usually enjoy Mama's pizza. Tonight was a bit different. We ordered a sausage pizza with extra cheese for a curbside pickup. It looked good as always but after a couple of bites it was clear there was way to much pizza sauce on it. It really overpowered that taste of the sausage. We both commented about the same time that the sauce was way too much. I get a restaurant is going to have a miss every now and then but upon contacting the manager it was clear in his mind they never make mistakes. When I called I asked to speak to a manager. I was polite and not angry at all. The gal that answered the phone took my info before transferring the call presumably so the manager could see what we ordered. He answered the phone "This is Pablo" already in an angry tone. I said hello and started off by telling him how much we enjoy the food at Mamas. Again I was being very polite. I said however this time the pizza had way too much sauce on it. He abruptly told me the pizza looked fine to him! I said again that we normally love their pizza but this one just had too much sauce. He said "well YOU ordered extra cheese." - Huh? What does that have to do with it!!- haha. He angrily said "Well I guess next time you should ask for light sauce!" By now I am shocked a manager would act this way. I said ' "Okay...so I am a customer calling to let you know there was a problem with our meal and you argue back that it is impossible?" He quickly said "Yes...it looked fine to me next time order light sauce." I said we have never ordered light sauce in the past but he didn't want to hear it. It's a little awkward, ordering your pizza and beer when you're sitting at the bar from a little ordering station. Went to college here in the 80s and we used to eat there if we used to do that then I have forgotten. In any case the people here obviously come here a lot. There's a group of six old boys behind me. They're in their 70s or 80s getting liquored up and telling lies like they were back in college. Adds to the whole ambience of the place. Mama's Pizza (the OG location, on Saddlecreek) is absolutely the best "classic style" pizza in Omaha. Maybe it's the nostalgia talking, as my family has been going there for years, but when that delicious Blue Smurf drink hits, it takes you back to those sugar rush days of childhood. All of their pizzas are good, but my favorites are BBQ Chicken (hold the onions) or a Hamburger, add black olives. Their waffle fries are also bomb and a great side or starter. My most recent pizza there was for Valentine's Day and they always come in clutch with the heart shaped pizzas, if you're ever on the hunt for one during the season of love. Great food 90% of the time. Things happen to not meet expectations however the good out weighs the bad. I'm mostly take out so for service I've never been disappointed per se. Interestingly mostly Jays type ambience. I'm more the other home town team fan. I'm not sure but I think the older pizzas were a bit better. But it depends on the preparer. We order and they'll bring it right to your car with there call for pickup and they'll bring young staff that bring them out are always very nice. If you have a hungry. Group that visit. Ordered online for delivery and the pizzas were dropped off with no sight delivery, order was correct but the pizzas had been physically dropped and were all slid to one side mashed together and toppings slid off. I called the store to let them know and was directed to the manager Pablo who said what do you want me to do about it, he asked who I had deliver the pizza and I said who ever your driver was and that I ordered off their website he then continued with a hostile attitude saying what do you want me to do about it and that he didn't deliver it himself. I was completely appalled at his responses and asked if this was real customer service after, after all but being told to pretty much get lost, he then said they use door dash to deliver and it's not his problem. It's not fancy, but it has lots of tvs and some games too. We had a half and half pizza-- half veggie for me and half triple sausage for Bookguy. Mamas has the best pizza in Omaha & you can't tell me otherwise. The pepperonis is under a fresh layer of cheese so it's always soft & savory. I purposely order a size too big for leftovers the next day. Waffle fries are crispy and a must add on. Onion rings taste freshly battered when we order them and are a must try even if you don't typically like onions (much like me) . You know... It's mamas pizza. The place people go to in the soccer season. Still (even now taking my kids to the place I came as a kid is nicely nostalgic). What is the food worth going there for? Not as much as the memories. Plus probably the most expensive arcade games in town.
