If I had to pic my favorite place to eat around here it would be here! Great food good prices, quality, and the best servers you can find! We have business luncheons and family dinners here In all these years I think we had one problem and it was taken care of immediately by the owner himself. And probably the the best salad bar in the state. And the cheese biscuits on the bar are awesome! His is a safe place to entertain visitors. It has a dinner side and a bar side. read more

This restaurant has moved from another location to an old building but newly remodeled. They are invested in making a good experience. Fried chicken for me and the breast wasn't done .. had to wait another 15 min to get it. BUT owner offered me a cupcake haha (I don't like sweets) but it was the thought that counts. Offered me a to go Diet Pepsi .. that is always a plus! The salad bar looked clean and fresh. I had a baked potato as well but who can mess that up?!? I'm amazed with the positive reviews. If you can get beyond the idea that the waitresses must be on something the food was absolutely horrible. The pork tenderloin was cold and greasy, the sweet potato fries were the same. I was told by the waitress that the onion rings were made fresh in house. They were just gross and dripping in grease. The waitress went back to the SAME dispenser trying to get sweet tea before she realized it was not sweetened. Then you had to ask for everything from napkins to ketchup. The latter which was never brought. Some food was so bad it got sent back. The waitress came out when she brought the bill and said we did not have to pay for the food that was sent back. I was sent back because it was inedible. One person in our party refused to eat anything after the first couple of bites. I had heard so many good things about mamas but this was more then just a bad day. I never in my life seen waitresses act the way these did. They were acting high or something. They could not remember anything you asked for and the one almost dropped the whole trey of food on us, then just laughed. All in all a nasty greasy place that has given me diarrhea for the past 3 days. read more

We met the in laws here for lunch on a Saturday and arrived right at noon. MIL got meatloaf, mashed potatoes, and green beans. The meatloaf was so tough on the outside as to literally be inedible; she could not chew some pieces. Mashed potatoes and the gravy on top of them were both instant and the gravy had a very odd taste. That taste I remember from long ago and I tried some of that crap at home to save time and regretted it. It is equally regrettable, if not more so, in a restaurant setting. My wife had chicken and dumplings with corn. The corn was pretty tasteless. The chicken and dumplings were room temperature, but were decent in taste. I had the catfish sandwich grilled. The waitress told us the cook had to remake it, so I'm guessing he fried the first piece. It was, when it came out finally, a really decent tasting piece of fish, but it looked and tasted pan fried as opposed to grilled. We all got the salad bar, which is mediocre at best. The toppings were fresh enough, but as is the theme here, lacking in any real flavor. Bottom line: next time we meet the in laws in Bedford, it ain't gonna be here. read more

I've just spent over an hour here eating literally just appetizers for two people. Our waitress was terrible. She forgot pieces of our order multiple times and we had to ask for boxes at least three times before getting them. She didn't refill our drinks either. They weren't that busy. The food that we used to get from Mammas before they just merged with Pappa's was nowhere near as good. The restaurant was not that busy, but yet we still hardly sW our waitress even though there were many people working. We still tipped but I will not be coming back. read more

My sister and I were immediately greeted and made feel welcome as entered what we remembered as the former, Hobbie's restaurant. The bartender was kind enough to give us a brief history of the new restaurant and we were impressed with the "Specials" on the board, which were much enhanced from the standard menu items, including chicken pot pie, beef stroganoff, and several other interesting options. We were not disappointed in out lunch, as my sister got a steak sandwich, which she raved about how perfect it was, and I had the beef stroganoff, which was also very delicious. The food is just ok but Bedford does not offer a lot of options. Today the AC was on full blast and the dining area so cold you could see your breath. Ask management to turn up just a little and was told it cannot be changed and has to stay where it is. I would like to enjoy my meal without shivering. I love the food. Don't get me wrong. But I hate the way the ladies answer the phones. The younger ones will be nice and cheerful, and some of the older ones will be to. But I just called to see if they're still handing out free soup today because of the coronavirus, which they are, and the lady who answered, was just barking her words at me the whole time we talked. I guess she couldn't hear me and just interrupted bluntly barked "I can't hear you" that was her exact words. didn't say ma'am, or have a nice day or anything in that category. And half of the time their phones don't work. I called about 10 times because their phone kept instantly hanging up and I don't think they're even working on the phones. And I ordered 2 ice cream cups and a side of fries last night and it took an hour to get to my house. I wish they would have let me know it was going to take that long. The lady who answered was the same lady before. The way she spoke to me was rude like always barking her words and being short with me. read more

Pappa's is always on the top of my list when I want to eat out in Bedford. I highly recommend the soup and salad bar or the coconut chicken. During lunch hours on weekdays they also have a pizza buffet which includes pizza, strombolis and dessert pizza from their sister restaurant Pappa's Pizza Pie. They also have awesome ranch dressing. Yum! For desert you have to get the giant cookie with ice cream. It is amazing. read more

I was in town for the weekend and asked the front desk person at the hotel where I was staying, "I don't want to know where you send everyone to eat. I want to know where you'd go?" They recommended Pappas and even had a menu at the front desk. Looked it over and seemed it was casual enough for the group and had enough variety. We walked in a little on the later side of the night. The waitress was helpful but not the most polite. Anyway, started with chips n salsa and some beers. Beer selection was nice however chips were stale. This particular evening they offered Prime Rib. I was hesitant but gave it a shot. Came with a side and added the soup and salad bar. It was delicious! Flavorful, nice cut, au jous was great and the salad bar had a great variety. The others in the party got grilled salmon and ribeye. They enjoyed their meals too. Nobody left a single crumb on their plate. It was a pleasant surprise for a non chain restaurant in a small town. We even went back the next night. Would've given 5 stars if servers were a bit friendlier. read more

Bedford has a shocking amount of chain restaurants for a small town. Its so nice to find a locally owned place. They have good bar food with the Hoosier specialties I seek out when I'm down home. The beef manhattan is made with real potatoes, great roast beef and good thick bread. The Pork Tenderloin is the size of a Dinner plate on a tiny bun, just like it should be. Dragonfly IPA on tap. Friendly service always! I steer the family here every time someone mentions going to the Golden Trough. read more

This was the second time placing a delivery order within alittle over a month, last time, our order was 22.00 plus our 5.00 tip. Go to get a plate and were missing an item. This evening place a delivery order its 27.00 plus our 5.00 tip and again were short an item. I look at receipt to makesure it was on the order and sure enough it was. My complaint is whoever gets the order together, needs to really check and makesure that they have included everything that you ordered and paid for. Almost 50.00 for 2 meals and a 10.00 tip. You expect to get what you pay for. Just alittle aggervaited that out of 2 orders placed each order had an item missing. read more

Table for 1, sad... 30 minutes to close on a Wednesday not expecting much. Pleasantly surprised fresh salad bar cheddar biscuits not red lobster but close enough. Tato was perfect fat n flakey. The food is very good. We usually go there at least once a week. However, they can't keep employees and the inside looks awful. It hasn't been updated in years. One place has insulation hanging from the ceiling over a table. Fix the place up already!! I was asked about WiFi service.
