A couple years later my parents upgraded to a lake house, and they come down here almost every weekend (Even in the winter!!) I try to make it out here at least a couple times a year and it's always a fun time. The lake is gigantic and absolutely beautiful to cruise on. The surrounding neighborhoods have lovely homes and friendly people. All of the facilities that I have visited at this state park have always felt clean and nice. I could easily recommend this park to anyone. It is way out in the country off of the highway, but it is well worth it for a relaxing weekend in the sun!

There is a dump station with 2 sites. The reservation check in has ice and fire wood, but it's hit or miss if someone is there to help you. We never even officially checked in because no one was there. We stayed on electric site #2 and it was perfectly shaded and quiet. The sites are nice and level with large spaces for games, hammocks, dogs, etc. Just outside the campground is the beach, park office and lake access for boats. The beach is small, but maintained well. We went on a 95+ degree day and the lake water felt like bath water, it was so warm. The lake was busy with a lots of boats and lots of beach goers. The park is pretty small, it mostly encompasses the lake, and there is not much around there. It take 40 min to get to the interstate and close to an hour to reach Mammoth Cave.

The trail guides are amazing and the staff is just honestly top notch. My fiancé and I got engaged here. (So I may be a little bias ). But, the staff worked with my fiancé and his family all the way up to the actual proposal. The staff did a great job playing along (I had no idea my fiancé had planned this)! Once we got towards the end of the trail ride, the trail guide directed us to a nearby field, got me off my horse and distracted me with taking my photo with my adorable horse June, when I turned around-there he was down on one knee. The staff helped make this a day I will remember for the rest of my life & I will be thinking about them on our big day!

Thank you for not price gouging on the washier and dryers like other places we've stayed at. The machines run 40 min, so your close get cleaned like at home. We've been to sites that were 26 min and the close were never rinsed well. The time started as soon as you hit start, but the water wasn't in. Crazy!! These machines are in great shape. We are able to get our laps in and walk our dogs out on the field track. They have a large bark park with seating. There is a pickleball court. It's is close to the highway. There are plenty of places to throw dog poo away and bags are there if you don't have any. The sites have grass for your dogs, trees or bushes, and fire pits. The staff is most friendly and helpful. We would definitely return to this site.

I've been to many many national parks and this one is probably now my favorite! I signed up awhile back for their wild cave tour which is their most strenuous, difficult tour. This tour when I showed up this morning was sold out so I am glad I booked it in advance. This tour also only runs 3 days/week. Our NPS rangers Alex and Lizette were awesome! They were great trip leaders and I would come back anytime just to do the wild cave tour with them again. I was skeptical this would be a strenuous tour as NPS tends to grade their events harder than they really are but this was a pretty accurate depiction of this tour. If you aren't physically fit, or able to fit into tight spaces, this tour isnt going to work for you. Its also basically 5 hours of hardcore horizontal caving, so keep that in mind. I kind of lucked out with my group as most were younger and fairly fit. I might have been the oldest person on this tour. We did a lot of crawling, climbing, scrambling and fancy footwork. I probably sweated out a couple of liters for sure. Everything I was wearing was soaked in sweat. Everyone in our group kept up and the rangers even told us after that our group was really awesome and invited us to come back anytime to this wild cave tour with them! Cool! The visitor center is pretty big and they offer so many cave tours, which is quite overwhelming. They have tons of gift shops so take your choice in where you want to shop. What's also great is that the Park Store is here too! This was a phenomenal experience and its just an above and beyond experience. Definitely come check it out!

There is over 640 steps and areas to squeeze through/dunk/sideways around. We had several wow moments. The pictures don't do it justice. I would definitely return and do the longer tour.

Car camping spot comes with a picnic table , fire pit, lantern pole, and small area to place items. Shower and bathroom areas are clean and there was never a wait for use. Trash can and fire wood on site at entrance to the camp grounds. Be prepared with bug spray and to check yourself and little ones for ticks. We had a raccoon visitor. If tent camping place food in car overnight if possible. I'm surprised no one reviewed the beach area on Yelp. It was hard to find. We drove a ways to Nolin State Park public beach. Small area but just right if you're looking for sun, sand, and water. There is a concession stand that was open from 1-7 pm. I thought that was brilliant and convenient. Overall wonderful experience! We would return.

We walked the loop before bedtim, trying to get a break from the loud noise, but realized the ENTIRE LOOP was affected by the loud generator. When there are plenty of sites with electrical hookups, generators should not be allowed Be considerate of your neighbors, leave the LOUD generators at home, and book a site that comes with electricity

It was easy to get around on the paved roads on our bikes. The jumpy pillow and Gaga ball were some of the kid's favorite things. Cons: sad picnic table with a hole in the bench and a rusty screw sticking up. There was not grate on the fire pits and ours was full of nasty cigarette butts. You would think they would scoop those out for the next customer, but I guess they just want everyone to get secondhand smoke? Only 3 of the pedal cars worked out of all the ones sitting there. Overall a little pricey for what you got, but there aren't tons of options around Mammoth Cave with pools. The people at the front desk were nice.
