I booked a one-way trip from the airport to Mammoth Mountain Inn with "Scotty," who was clearly too busy juggling three other conversations to do his job properly. Despite his distractions, I explicitly reaffirmed the $100 rate and my destination before hanging up. The real "professionalism" started ten minutes into the ride. Scotty called the driver to arbitrarily hike the price to $140. When I objected to being scammed, he actually told the driver to either leave me stranded or dump me at the Village--miles from my actual destination. But wait, it gets classier. Another ten minutes later, Scotty calls the driver's cell (thinking he's off the radio) and says, "Go ahead and take him to the Inn since he's being a little b****" Little did he know, I heard every word. Scotty is the definition of a "tough guy" behind a phone screen--disrespectful, immature, and fundamentally unprofessional. This isn't just a bottom-tier taxi service; it's a predatory vendor that makes the entire local community look like a joke. I've already filed a formal claim with the airport and the city regarding their "partnership" with this hostile operation. I won't stop escalating until I get a formal apology. Clean, comfortable, and punctual. We pre-booked round trip transportation between the Bishop airport and Juniper Springs Resort for skiing at Mammoth, and it was very easy with Mammoth Taxi. We booked for 4 people, and the Coors Light themed van fit us, all our stuff (including a rig for ski bags on the back), with plenty of room to spare. On our way up, our driver was super chatty and shared a lot of information and trivia about the area. She also gave us some Coors Light branded items - sunglasses, beer openers, koozies, a nice touch and we ended up using the items on our trip. On our way down, the driver picked us up right from the door of our unit (as opposed to from just the main entrance of our place which would have required us to walk a ways with all our stuff). Let me start by saying I didn't actually use them, so no clue on their actual "service". The reason I didn't use them is that I called to get a ride to the Mammoth/Yosemite airport to pick up a rental car. The woman I spoke to indicated it would be a "minimum of $100". I asked if that was correct for a 9.4 mile trip and she said, "We have to make a round trip". I said thank you and that was that. My Audi had trouble 15 mins outside of Mammoth lakes. Luckily I made it to our condo and was referred to a reliable master mechanic. Rough all around being 12/30/24... by 1/2/25 it was clear I was stuck. We luckily rented from Enterprise st the airport. With an impending storm we needed to get out of dodge. Scotty the owner of Mammoth Taxi took my reservation and then personally drove me to the airport. He called ahead to make sure my vehicle was available. After losing my car keys then being stranded in Mammoth for an additional 24 hours due to a storm, we were able to work with mammoth taxi to help get us to a car rental place so we could be on our way. Amazing experience from beginning to the end. They really came through for us when it really mattered. We got stranded in the snowstorm in Mammoth Lakes over MLK weekend. Our flight was cancelled and we had to make our own plans to get back to San Diego. The other shuttle service, whose name shall go unmentioned (MAWS) oops :) left us completely high and dry, refusing to drive us down to Bishop (even though they fully charged the CC beforehand). In any case, Simone, is, was, and always will be our guardian angel. She managed to drive me down to Bishop to pick up the rental car, and then came back for the rest of my family and safely brought them down to Bishop in whiteout conditions. I am very disappointed with Mammoth Taxi. I booked a single pickup with the owner, Scotty. I had to change plans and cancel my pickup. I cancelled my pickup more than 24 hours before the pickup was scheduled. To this day a week later, after several attempts, I have not been able to receive my refund. No communication. No credit received. I have now had to take the steps to dispute the charge on my credit card. So, Poor communication. Poor follow through. Not willing to refund money when you cancel more than 24 hours out. Very Disappointing. read more

Great Service! For a point to point hike I needed to leave my car at one trailhead and get a ride to the other and this service was just what I needed. I made a reservation on the online form and received a call from the driver a few minutes later to confirm all of my details, he even gave some great advice to us since we'd never been to the area. There was no cell service at the Devil's Postpile trailhead so I was a bit nervous but Scotty arrived early to pick us up and took us right to where we needed to be. Scotty was a very friendly driver and made the entire experience pleasant. I recommend this service and will use it again. read more

I rarely write reviews (I just wrote another one, which probably brings my total to 3), but I absolutely need to give a shout out to Scottie and Mammoth Taxi. Last week, I flew to and from Mammoth for the first time. I had reserved a taxi with Scottie to get me from the Mammoth airport. It was Scottie -- not my airline -- that called to tell me my flight into Mammoth was likely to be diverted to Bishop. I did not need to worry that I would miss my taxi as Scottie was the "official" shuttle driver for the airline from Bishop and he would then just continue on with our service to the hotel after we got to Mammoth airport. If you are someone like me who worries about no rides in a town experiencing a huge snow storm and that does not have uber or Lyft, that was a big relief. I ended up not flying that night, but the next morning and, through it all, Scottie kept me informed. Yes, that should have been the airline's job, but, in fact, all my information came from Scottie's emails and phone calls. When it came time to fly back home, a friend had offered to drive me to the airport. However, Scottie was "in the neighborhood" near my hotel and called unsolicited to offer a shared ride back to the airport. My friend was so grateful! Scottie also let me know that he would be driving us straight to Bishop as our flight was once again diverted. The airline had not notified us about this diversion (and never did), but I had Scottie, so all was okay! Scottie also walked us through the logistics of checking in at Mammoth airport and then drove us literally onto the tarmac at Bishop. I should also mention that Scottie appears to know the staff and management at both Mammoth and Bishop airports. That helped to make things much smoother for all of us passengers because, to be honest, there were times when Scottie appeared to understand the process better than the airline team on the ground (not to knock the team, because they were lovely). In conclusion, if it is not abundantly clear, I highly recommend Scottie and Mammoth Taxi for your next trip to Mammoth! read more

What a joke for an actual business. I live on the road, I rely on taxi transit and this excuse for a taxi beats the worst. I called and they literally hung up on me assumably because it was close to closing. No explanation no nothing, just mid sentence... hung up. I expect getting hung up on after a one night stand followed by a classless walk of shame, but mid hailing a cab? New taxi low. If you love sea gulls for the shear fact they crap on your actual face you'll love this place. Otherwise avoid at all costs. Yes, they have clean vehicles, fast response times and friendly service. Even if you are showing up at a trailhead after dark with 6 smelly hippies and two dogs, they are happy to give you a ride! But I'm writing this review because of their next-level sense of hospitality. Not a fan. How does a town with a premier ski resort and reliant on tourism have one rude taxi monopoly like this? I arrived to Mammoth and my bag did not arrive. The owner of the company told me he would not wait for me to walk inside small airport and alert staff my bag had not come. When I asked if he would wait no more 5 minutes he said he would come back to get me and I could pay for a private ride for $60+ dollars and 45-60 minutes later. The two other "share ride" passengers (all paying $22) quickly said they didn't mind waiting, but the owner said he had things he needed to do and couldn't be waiting. It seemed he was more after securing two paid rides and forcing me have to wait for him to come back to get me at a higher price vs. waiting a few minutes. It astonished me that he wasn't going to wait even with consent from all passengers and I said that I would not seek his business in future occasions if this is how customers are treated and he replied by yelling at me to not use his business now, telling me to look for another option now. He knew that all other hotel shuttles had left and my options were to use his service, rent a car, or hitch hike. At this time his female co-owner overhead the yelling and I asked her if she could wait 5 minutes for me to give the United clerk my baggage claim tag. She also became aggravated saying that they do not wait, and I replied that I am only asking for a few minutes and the other passengers offered to wait. At this time the male owner began to yell at me as he followed me to the airport door yelling that I should not use his service (there are no other options) and he won't wait more than 5 minutes and that they already were doing me a favor to not charge me the $60 private fare price of to drop me off at a street 4 blocks from the Village. How is it a favor for one customer to be charged the same as the rest of the passengers?? I don't know why he would even charge me $60 when charging the other passengers $22 for sharing a taxi when I am being dropped off 4 blocks from the village on a street of houses and local residents where nightly rentals are not allowed. I can only deduce that their pricing appears to charge locals a higher price. There where 2 taxi cars both full of people going to different locations in a small town and paying $22 and I am supposed to pay $60 because I'm going 4 blocks from the Village street of houses and not a condo resort?? I don't think any Mammoth business should be set up to charge such drastic price differences based on zoning for tourism or local residence. That is wrong. I was in and out of United in 3 minutes with the service line woman helping me as fast as she could but since I was on a strict time limit she only could take me info to call me later. I made it to the taxi and we left within the 5 minutes. As we were leaving to get on hwy, the owner was called by his colleague and asked to turn back and pick up a bag that one of her passengers left behind. How ironic that he had no issues whatsoever to spend 5 minutes going back and getting the bag for someone else, but was adamant on not being able to spare a few minutes in helping me. In an alternate universe, the owner could have quickly checked in with other passengers to see if they minded waiting 5 minutes and communicated any sense of compassion to a customer with lost luggage rather than the rude reply to call for him to come back for a private $60 fare taxi for a 10 mile taxi ride. Where there are no business alternatives, you get business owners who take advantage of their position of power. Mammoth has great public bus service and I would happily take a bus or welcome any ride share service that will at least respond to customers in a more professional manner. Edit: The owner has responded to my review and, in similar fashion to his responses to other negative reviews, it is all apparently the client's fault. Sad to see that he is choosing to lie outright and say he offered to escort me inside - that does not even add up with the message that he could not wait at all. I would not quality the service professional in any manner, and the other passenger even apologized when the owner got outside of the vehicle to get someone else's bag. He is calling them the grateful guests, but what is backwards here is that he expects clients to give him service of gratitude instead of the other way around. read more

There aren't many (if any other) options for getting a private ride in Mammoth, so we know what that means. A lot of people may be dismayed by the fares and while that's understandable... there are so many ways to get around town that a taxi is a premium and probably isn't needed for most people most of the time. For that reason, I didn't take off stars. I used Mammoth Taxi after getting sick on a hike to Rainbow Falls. There was no way I was getting on a hot, cramped, smelly bus and be forced to stand for the 45 minute ride up to the top, even though I was feeling better. Service was fairly prompt once past 7pm (the gate won't even let the taxis down). The driver kept me up to date on his arrival and was easy to spot. Driver was friendly and stuck with the quoted price. There were problems with reception, as another person reported. I couldn't understand what the guy on the phone was saying and the call did drop. It was either my service, or perhaps their call center link. I just called back and it wasn't an issue. The pricing from Reds Meadow ($75) is... well... I can't think of the words, but it is what it is, and things happen. It's a long drive and sort of a special route. I wasn't going to take the bus or hike 10 miles back home. I imagine they get a fair amount of business from people missing the last bus out of Reds and also people that miss the last trolley to the lakes. I plan on using them in the future to/from the airport. The fares seem a little tricky. If you book in advance, *in the winter* you can get a ride for $17 if you share with others. Otherwise, it's $60. If I understood the driver correctly. I hope they expand the $17 fare to the summer as well. read more

I scheduled pick up service from the airport for me and my party. Our flight was cancelled due to weather and I tried to contact this company immediately to let them know not to expect us at the airport that day and to make changes to our itinerary - namely change the hotel and push the dates a couple of days back. Nobody answered the phone and multiple voicemails that we left were ignored, so I made alternate arrangements. They finally did contact me days later when they were outside the original hotel we had booked previously looking for us so that they could drop us off at the airport. I subsequently contacted them after I got home from the trip and not only did they refuse to give a refund, but they were downright nasty (I have the e-mails from Scottie Marzonie). Do yourself a favor and go with another service. Any service is better than these guys. read more

Mammoth taxi was a life saver for our trip to Mammoth. They went above and beyond to get us to the mountain from the airport during a crazy winter storm. They also bailed us out when we were stranded at one of the lodges (second day of the storm) and the lifts were closed, shuttles weren't running, and all of the other taxi companies were either booked, or unwilling to tackle the snow. I am a pilot stranded at the Mammoth airport at 9:40pm and a driver from this Company is coming from June Lake on 395 south in my direction to turn into his home in Mammoth . I tried to call 3x and no one picked up until my fourth call. The Mammoth turnoff is just 2 miles from the exit he will take to go home so a three minute detour from path back home. I said great you are just a jog away from me and a 10 min detour to get back home. He quoted me "60 dollars" as a "flat rate". He said "I'm sorry Sir that is company policy, and I cannot change the rate". It's a lie. I have never been charged over $20 one way from mammoth airport. I was charged $20 just two weeks ago in peak summer season from here to downtown Mammoth. I feel like I was kicked while I was down. I will never use this company again with this rip off rate. I would rather walk than have someone extort money. The vans are beat up and rattle traps anyway. They are smoked in and dirty too. They need some Uber and Lyft people to put them out of business. I called, they answered right away, but were busy and gave me at ETA of 30 min to finish existing rides and then come get me. It was evening and getting dark so I was getting concerned. Within a couple minutes, the owner (Scottie) called my cell, asked me where I am, and picked up me and my family. We were actually stranded due to my 4x4 due to my truck being stuck too deep in the snow. At the end of a Tuolumne Meadows to Red's Meadow backpack, we discovered that YARTS isn't running on weekdays until next week. So, at the recommendation of the Red's people, we called Mammoth Taxi and arranged to be driven up to Tuolumne, where our cars were parked. Our driver, Scottie, was a very congenial guy, and the fare was pretty reasonable, considering it's an hour-and-a-half drive, and his chances of getting a return fare were pretty slim. The car, a three-row GMC, was nicely appointed and had plenty of room for four passengers plus gear. Scottie arrived on time, early, in fact, was very cordial and outgoing, and contributed a lot to making the drive pleasant. I can recommend the service without reservation. read more

5 +++! Car broke down 20 miles south of Mammoth on a Saturday afternoon. Called and spoke with Simone who immediately came to our rescue while my husband waited for AAA. Squeezed us into her tight schedule and got us safely to our destination. From the moment I spoke with her, her primary concern was our safety. Not only to get us off the 395, but also to keep us safe during COVID. Completely disinfected vehicle before and after we got in, separated passengers from driver with custom plexiglass barrier, wore mask and gloves the entire time, and offered us hand sanitizer. She also gave us an excellent referral for our vehicle repair, who also squeezed us into his packed schedule. You will not be disappointed with the quality of service, and you will feel 100% safe in her vehicles. Will absolutely use their services again, should the need arise! read more

I landed not having any idea of the limited transportation options and when I asked about rideshare options (uber/lyft) at the taxi stand was rudely told by Simone "Good luck with that and then she walked away" A far more professional response would have been "there is no uber here our services cost xx and its your only option." If you don't jump on a ride immediately or book ahead you will be stranded at the airport and be forced to pay 3x the rate. Later when I called to book a ride I was told it was $60 and then hung up on for asking if there are any cheaper options. For someone who lives here this may be standard but if you are coming in from any major city this process is a major shock and completely unique to Mammoth. Later when my friend used their service the same woman mocked me and made fun of my appearance to my friend. Mountain business at it's finest and wouldn't last a season with any real competition.
