Room was 1 bedroom suite with a queen bed, nice couch, a nook by the window to take in the mountain views, large flatscreen TV, kitchen area and good size bathroom and nice showerheads. Good internet, plenty of cable TV options, hair dryer, coffee maker, shuttle service for local attractions, Ski lockers non-smoking facility. Stairs out the back of the hotel down to the Village at Mammoth, lots of shops and food options within walking distance. Secure parking in the 3-level underground parking garage. Yes, we would stay here again, thanks Westin Monache Resort for a great stay!

Deceptive billing, zero management accountability, and persistent construction noise…read more ​As a repeating Marriott Bonvoy member, this was hands down one of the most frustrating hotel stays I have experienced. ​To start, the property engaged in deceptive billing practices. When booking through the Marriott call center, we were quoted one rate, only to find the hotel attempted to quietly bill us an inflated amount on the final invoice. It was only after confronting management that they reluctantly adjusted it back to what was agreed. A guest should never have to audit a hotel folio to ensure they aren't being quietly overcharged. ​The condition of the accommodations was equally unacceptable. The initial room assigned to us was in clear disrepair: ​A strong, persistent cigarette odor inside a supposedly "smoke-free" property, which was noted immediately in front of the bellman. ​The balcony door lock was loose and missing a screw, posing an outright security issue. ​Heavy paint scratches and visible wear across the bedroom window trim. ​A cramped, worn-down layout that fell far short of the standard booked. ​To make matters worse, active on-site construction was never disclosed prior to booking or at check-in. Every single morning of our stay, we were woken up by continuous hammering and construction noise, completely defeating the purpose of a relaxing vacation. ​When we raised these concerns post-stay with management (Alejandro), the response was defensive and insulting. Instead of addressing the maintenance failures, the undisclosed construction, or the billing discrepancy, management repeatedly pointed to coffee vouchers--of which we used exactly one--as if that excuses an uninhabitable room and ruined mornings. They have refused through four rounds of correspondence to provide regional management contact information. ​This property lacks basic operational oversight, customer service, and maintenance standards. I am escalating this directly to Marriott corporate leadership and disputing the charges. Book elsewhere if you expect honest billing and quiet, well-maintained rooms.

I planned this trip with a group of friends, and they could not stop commenting about how the chalets was the best stay they've been in at Mammoth. We stayed at chalet #9 which was not a ski out, but a very short walk to the main lodge/lifts and definitely a ski in from lower road runner. The chalet itself was cozy with plentiful seating, and even extra foldable chairs for our group. The beds were comfortable, and the bathrooms came equipped with hotel sized toiletries, which was a nice touch. The kitchen is a good size and well equipped with all the necessities, along with a fridge/freezer that was the perfect size to fit all of our weekend groceries. I also appreciated that they even had a huge pot to make group meals like pho, even though I had already brought my own instant pot. I would 110% stay here again and recommend the chalets to all of my family and friends. This was such a wonderful find. Thank you for the awesome stay Mammoth Mountain Chalets! :)

I came in here around 11am, however, their restaurant doesn't open until noon. There is a really nice lounge area where there are two fireplaces, jazz playing and a really cozy space to just relax. I just came here both days resting between XC sessions, ate some lunch I brought, had some water and just chilled out. Id definitely love to return and have a cocktail here and hang out here with a special someone, flirting the night away, plotting some clandestine tryst (maybe a beautiful hike into the mountains behind - looking at stars, listening for wild animals) and deeply enjoying life, big grins, and making each day count. Extremely Poor Customer Service -- Save Your Money and Stay Elsewhere…read more The saga at this hotel just continued to get worse. We booked six rooms as a group, paying rates of up to $450 per night, and virtually everyone in our group experienced problems. In our case, we paid for an air-conditioned room for three days, yet the AC did not work for two days -- while the heat was actually on. Despite calling the front desk repeatedly, the problem was never appropriately resolved. At one point, Allie (sp?), who originally checked us in, responded to our repeated concerns by saying, "We have given you the manager's fan. What else do you want?" The fact that a hotel charging these rates considers a portable fan an acceptable solution for a nonfunctioning AC system says a lot. Things became even more disturbing when we spoke with Aureli, the assistant manager. Rather than resolving the problem, the proposed solution appeared to be moving us to an inferior room. When we tried to discuss the situation with her, the interaction escalated and she ultimately left the lobby while asking us to leave. Throughout our stay, we encountered an astonishingly confrontational attitude from staff. Statements from Aureli included "You need to leave the lobby," "You can't tell us what to do," and even, incredibly, "We have the room but won't give it." She even walked out on us when we tried to ask her the reason she could not change our room. This is not simply poor customer service; it reflects staff who appear inadequately trained in how to handle legitimate guest concerns professionally and respectfully. There were plenty of other problems as well: our bathroom cleaning was missed, the rooms were extremely noisy due to poor sound insulation, there was inadequate space for luggage, and there was no iron, phone etc etc But those inconveniences pale in comparison with the way guests were treated. Even more disappointing, Renee, the manager, never once spoke with us, despite the situation escalating to this degree. I do want to recognize Jenny, who was the one exception. She was courteous, helpful and genuinely tried to assist us, including helping us obtain the manager's fan so that we could at least sleep. We appreciated her kindness. When one guest has a problem, it can be an unfortunate incident. When a group books six rooms and everyone has complaints about the service, it suggests a much larger problem with how the property is being managed. For a hotel charging up to $450 a night, the combination of malfunctioning basic amenities, poor housekeeping, inadequate facilities and, above all, shockingly adversarial customer service is unacceptable. I rarely feel this strongly about a hotel, but based on our experience, I cannot recommend this property. Save your time, your money and your frustration and stay somewhere else. This hotel needs a serious review of its management, staff training and basic standards of hospitality.

Wrong choice. I thought I'll just grab something I can heat up in the morning in the microwave. Yeah, there is none. So the $ difference is lost. It's also an older building, there are no ramps or elevators to enter the building or 2nd floor. It's also noisy. Between the noise from the hallway to the busy and the cars outside I'm not sure which was louder. Room was clear and tidy, but design choices left a lot to be desired. There were no doors on the sink vanity and it just looked like someone took the doors off and forgot to put them back on. The closet in the corner was right next to the bedside table so it cramped and we had small bags.

Coffee makers in the rooms are terrible and leak everywhere. Luckily they have coffee near the front desk. 3 stars Food: Due to staffing shortages they sometimes have to cancel the continental breakfast. be sure to bring your own or be ready to go out to eat. Comfort There is no central heating with thermostat so you have to use the wall unit. I would recommend turning that on immediately upon arriving in the room because it takes a while to heat up. 3 stars. They do have a Jacuzzi on the bottom floor and it is quite large. There's a noisy fan blowing so consider bringing some noise canceling headphones if you're going to go into that water. Swimwear might be sensible as well other than that I had a smooth check-in and they got all my particulars exactly right. 5 stars. comfort: bring earplugs because the doors in the hallways are heavy and loud. they're constantly slamming every time somebody comes and goes. The bathrooms are standing showers (no tubs). I always wish there was a handheld wand/hose instead of the spigot that just rains on you. Maybe consider bringing one of those handhelds too?

The entry door was heavy and needed a bigger shove to get it to close, so not too convenient. The bathroom door was interesting, but very annoying and not that practical. It makes too much noise, and it can wake people up in the middle of the night even someone uses the bathroom. There is warm breakfast available in the early morning. It was simple and nice. Overall, a wonderful stay.

That was really cool, we've never had such a nice upgrade before. The rooms come with all the standard amenities. In the summer, it's important to note there is no AC but the rooms have box fans in them you can put in the windows if it gets warm. The night time cools down pretty quickly so it's not terrible until the afternoon lol. But we spent most of our time outside of the room anyway. The pool is large and there are two hot tubs! Also a fitness room, which we didn't get around to using but it looked nice. Also, on the first floor, there's a store for any of the basics like sunscreen, snacks, T-shirts, and other gifts which is convenient. We had a great time staying here, and I think we would definitely stay here again next time we're in the area.

Only one window that opens with a screen in the bedroom. The living room door opens, but there is no screen so anything can fly in to your place. The place never really cools down. They also offer ski valet right in the lobby, which makes the walk even shorter. Huge plus: boot dryers. Check-in was super easy, and we upgraded our room to one of their "condos." Just to set expectations: this isn't a full condo. It's essentially a hotel room with a small living area and a Murphy bed. Still comfortable and totally fine for what we needed. The best part of this hotel is that it's dog-friendly -- and truly dog-friendly. Any size dog, big or small, and there were dogs everywhere (including ours). There's a forested area behind the hotel that's perfect for letting your pup play in the snow. One downside: some guests don't pick up after their dogs, so there was dog poop around even though the hotel provides bag dispensers. Maybe adding more (or enforcing cleanup) would help. The price is good, the hotel is clean, but it is old -- very old -- and definitely showing its age. The hallway floors are uneven, the elevator makes some questionable noises, and nothing about it feels modern. That said, after skiing all day, the four hot tubs and heated pool are amazing and very much appreciated. I stay here for convenience, not luxury. The beds are comfortable, towels are clean, and that's honestly all we need. Plus, it's close to The Yodler, our favorite restaurant. We've stayed here many times before and will stay many times again.

The very amicable and kind qualities of and dedication to service by Jon and Doug are definitely what drew us back to stay there again. Their breakfast of fruit compote, yogurt, orange juice, coffee/tea, sausages, eggs & pancakes/waffles is delicious, prepared with loving care, and provided with great attention to presentation and ambiance...as if at a Ritz-Carlton! One cannot but be impressed with the manner in which the dining table is set and the guests are served. We love it! Daily attention to the cleanliness of our rooms, bathrooms and living areas went above and beyond our expectations. Our hosts deep knowledge of the Mammoth Lakes area, their quality of being well-read, and ability to connect with their guests on any number of topics made for great, meaningful conversation with all the members of our family. We very much look forward to our next opportunity to stay with them again, and highly recommend a stay with them!
