We LOVE everything about Convict Lake Resort, from the ambience, the amenities, the location, and the convenience to the neat and tidiness of the place! Convict Lake and Mammoth Lakes were on my bucket list for so many years. Living in the Bay Area means it's a rough 5-6 hours of driving through windy mountainous roads. Thus, we wanted to pick a place to stay that could provide us the comfort of home we needed. And Convict Lake Resort delivered! From the booking process to checking in and later checking out, everything was a breeze! We received emails reminder from staff detailing easy steps needed to check in. When it looked like we might arrive late, they promptly sent us instructions for self check in. Luckily we arrived on time before the gift shop close. Each cabin has 1 parking spot for your car. However, there are many parking spaces within walking distance to your cabin if you and your party happen to have more than 1 car. As soon as we opened the door into our cabin, our stress and exhaustion of the long drive melted away! We love the high vaulted ceiling, the warm woody interior and how spacious and clean the inside of our cabin was! It was so welcoming and smells so good! You could tell that the staff did a wonderful job cleaning and preparing for your stay! Thank you ! The kitchen area was another highlights of the cabin! It was big with full amenities! We used it so many times during our stay to cook our meals and everything in between! Microwaves, fridges, freezer, chopping board, plate wares, forks and spoons, etc. You name it, they have it! There's a door by the kitchen area which gave you access to the mini wood behind your cabin. We once spotted some deers here during twilight times . And the BATHROOM!!! We LOVE IT!! Super spacious with nice rain-forest shower head! After a long day being active outside like hiking, kayaking and other stuff, we came home to the cabin, hopped into the shower and let all our fatigue washed away! I swear this shower had some acupuncture magic as it soothed my tired body so well! The sliding door to the bathroom was so modern and chic itself. We love the tiny windows looking out to the wood beside our cabin. We joked to each other that "Number 2 with a great view !" Not only the inside was amazing, the outside porch area with the gas grill was another bonus! Never had we ever seen such a clean grill like this! Kudos again to the staff ! We utilized the grill many times during our visits and enjoyed a dinner or breakfast outdoor with our pup :) And first time in our life, we saw such a dog friendly place! Every cabin seemed to have at least one dog. My puppy Butter had such a wonderful socializing with all his furry friends and neighbors. We enjoyed walking around and checking out the resort on the lovely trails surrounding the resort and looked at all the amazing mountains. Convict Lake Resort is just 10 minutes of walking and 5 minutes of driving from Convict Lake. Location! Location! Location!! There's a lovely restaurant onsite that I'll review in details in another review :) Overall, AMAZING place and words cannot describe how satisfied we were! Kid and animal friendly, trout stocked lake. Breathtaking views. Easy access for someone with disabilities, can drive almost all the way around the lake. Very clean, quiet, and felt very safe. Convict Lake Resort was absolutely wonderful. The cabins were beautiful. The staff were friendly, welcoming, and very helpful. The cabin I stayed in was clean, well maintained, and equipped with everything you would need (stove, fridge, pots and pans, plates, etc). The shower had excellent water pressure, which was a pleasant surprise, and the bed and pillows were very comfortable, making it easy to relax after a day outdoors. It also has a fancy restaurant that offers plenty of dishes. Not sure prices for cabins are actually worth it. Parking near marina is always full. Restrooms by bridge area were remodeled recently, however they were dirty & out of toilet paper. Someone should be checking these periodically throughout the day as the lake can get very congested sometimes there is no parking. Plus side, Lake is beautiful, have been visiting the Sierras for many years but can longer really enjoy this place due to crowds. You can rent boats for the lake & it has a general store with a lot of goods. No styrofoam coolers, so bring your own. read more

Jacuzzi outside and the Best Steam Shower and Jacuzzi Tub, When making this reservation, I went in and met with Pete, He is extremely kind and knowledgeable and just made you feel like you couldn't wait to explore all the adventures of Convict Lake and staying at the cabins as well as eating at their famous restaurant where my husband and I enjoyed an amazing meal that is to die for, your pallet will be satisfied. Everything on the menu is amazing. The chef is exceptional. The presentation of the meal you just will never forget it a great wine list. We had a wonderful Server. His name was Steve. He just was knowledgeable about all the dishes and paired them very well with the wine list,so get out there an enjoy what Mammoth has to offer and go to Convict Lake and stay at the resort. read more

Convict Lake is a very special place--there is truly nowhere else on earth like it! I've been coming to Convict Lake since I was in high school in the 1980s, and later we brought our kids here to camp in our tent trailer from 2008 through 2016. This year, for the first time, we stayed in one of the cabins (Cottonwood 20), and we loved it. The cabin was comfortable, clean, and perfectly set up for a relaxing getaway while still letting us enjoy the stunning scenery and peaceful feeling that Convict Lake has always given us. Waking up in the morning and looking out at the lake and mountains felt like coming home. The resort staff were friendly and helpful, and everything was well cared for. It was wonderful to experience Convict Lake in a new way while still holding onto the family traditions and memories that make this place so important to us. Perfect weather 63 degrees sunny. We stayed in the Lone Pine cabin which was small but perfect for our needs which is why we picked that particular cabin. I am most particular about cleanliness and I was very impressed at how clean it was when we arrived. There are deer all over the property roaming around. There is a restaurant and general store. This place is a great little nature getaway. There's plenty of cabins. Some have went through remodeling. The lakes water is like a cold plunge. A few different rental options of boats to kayaks, horseback riding, trails and a camping sites. Theres a restaurant and general store. Some people get married here. read more

Convict lake is beautiful every time we come here. Arrived late June and rented a pontoon boat for the day. The people at the marina are awesome and super friendly. My family had an amazing time. The weather in June was beautiful, but the water is super cold, I believe it was 48°. So I would definitely recommend coming in July when it's warmer. read more

This was not worth the high cost. Part of the living room was covered with what might have been pet hair. The couch bed had hair and debris when we unfolded it, and the cot was too small for an average height man. The sheets had stains. The Wi-Fi was slow. We have stayed in the cabins, dined at the restaurant, rented boats and shopped at the Convict Lake general store numerous times for the last 30 plus years. We have always loved our trips to Convict Lake. However, we went to rent the small 2-4 person aluminum V hull fishing boat on June 30, 2025 and noted that the price was now a whopping $187 for two hours. The attendant even tried to sell me boat insurance for additional $30. Nothing takes the enjoyment out of a beautiful day then feeling ripped off. I draw the line when I feel i'm being unfairly charged such an exorbitant amount of money. We left without renting and headed to Gull Lake. The cost at Gull was a fraction of the cost and the lake was beautiful. We caught our limit and we had a blast. This is just a warning to those making the drive to rent a boat at Convict Lake. read more

The cabins are really nice and kept up so well. Service is amazing especially Pete and Anne but everyone is so sweet and accommodating. We rented 3 cabins and all were perfect. We had the most fabulous family getaway here!! our trip was cut 1 day short b/c roads were closed on the way in...and we thought about staying 1 more night on the back end but another major storm was rolling in. That being said we will definitely return! our cabin was a 1 bedroom. bedroom had a king bed and a twin bed family room had a twin bed and a full size sofa bed (that was not too bad) full kitchen updated bathroom. patio had a BBQ wifi is pretty good. the best part is that my teens were stuck in a small space with us and actually talked to each other and to me!!! there's a high end restaurant on site and i guess in the summer there is also a casual eatery the general store has essentials + ice cream and alcohol! staff is all super friendly and helpful i need to check it out in the summer time and again next winter. read more

Everything was amazing! Cabin was very clean and equipped with everything you needed and more. All appliances, even knives and utensils, were high quality Cuisinart, and KitchenAid. Best equipped and cleanest cabin I have ever stayed in. Beautiful tiled shower and floor in the bathroom. Very clean stove, oven, refrigerator, and microwave. Employees were all kind and efficient . Their little store was very organized and abundantly stocked with everything and anything you could possibly need. I was surprised that the prices of the products in the store were moderately priced. The restaurant was a very high restaurant with an amazing chef . They also had a food wagon for breakfast and lunch with high-quality choices on the menu . Our stay was wonderful . Our little fur baby was very welcomed and there is a paved path. You can walk all the way around the lake, wheelchair and stroller friendly. read more

A 5 Star Review of a 3 Star Facility My wife and I went to Convict Lake Resort for a long weekend to celebrate her birthday. We chose the property because of the proximity to Mammoth, and the fact that they let us bring our pups with us. We stayed in Shasta 23, and we really did enjoy our time at the resort. However, there are a lot of updates needed at the facility. So, here are a list of pros and cons: Pros: - Location. 20 minutes from Mammoth Village and all that it has to offer. Right off of 395 so easy access. Plus, you can't complain about Convict Lake as a location. - Pet Friendly - Cabins are well equipped. Everything you need to cook your own meals. - Staff is fantastic and were always willing to help in any way. - Onsite dining: The Restaurant at Convict Lake is a high-end restaurant with fantastic food and service. - General Store: Well equipped to supply your needs while staying at the resort. - Super quiet resort. It was nearly sold out, but we didn't have to deal with any serious noise. Cons: - Cabins are well worn, at least the one we stayed in. Lots of chipped paint, worn spots on the carpet. Definitely needs updating. - Roads/Parking: Granted, we went in mid-winter with snow and rain. However, our cabin parking was SUPER muddy. The cabin beside us had gravel over their parking, but none in sight for us. - Lack of seating: While we knew the cabin was very small, there was no room for chairs other than around the small kitchen table. This meant we had to sit in bed to watch any TV. - A/C: While we didn't need it, I didn't see any indication of A/C in our cabin. Be aware of this during summer visits. Honestly, we enjoyed our stay. But, don't go expecting high end. And besides, most people are really using this as a basecamp for all their other activities. read more

Want to give a big shout out to Annie at the store for being so accommodating. She is extremely helpful and a gem to the business. Always look forward to seeing her as she makes our day.
