She even tried to cite the experiment NBC did with hiding a gun and seeing what kids do. Less than five minutes of the visit were dedicated to my child's health. I felt very uncomfortable during all this and I'm honestly shaken by this experience. What I experienced is an ethical boundary violation because she misused a patient's trust to push a political agenda of gun control.

We moved from another state and both of my daughter-in-laws raved about this clinic and doctors, and nurse practitioners, so had to check it out for myself. I'e only had to wait over 15 minutes in all of our visits, and some say they've waited a while, but, I'd wait all day if needs be. The reason for the wait is because they take all the time you need, explain everything in understandable terms, and really look at your child and they LISTEN to all of your concerns. This is not a 5 minutes visit in another clinic with a doctor or CRNP, while your concerns are blown off and answers to what question you can squeeze in is in 'doctor-speak', this is the real deal. I cannot say enough about them! AWESOME. I wish I'd had a pediatrician for my own kids like this, but they just aren't there. I drive almost 40 miles to see them, and it is worth it every single time.

And, I've found it quite difficult to find the right fit, to be honest. So, early on, I really struggled to find the right physician and group for my kids. And, the fact is, when you choose your child's doctor, you aren't just making that choice - you are choosing the office staff, the physical office space and location, the hours, the other group physicians, etc. We lived in Franklin years ago, when my kids were little. I have plenty of "horror" stories of the various physicians and groups we tried out then. From 2004-2008 we were in Florida, and it was even more difficult there - I never found a physician I was confident in! When moving back to Tennessee, a lot of prayer (yes! prayer) went into my search for a new pediatrician. Dr. Pinkley was the first we saw, and we've never regretted that decision. Fantastic facility (and I've been in some nasty offices!), pleasant and helpful staff, generous office hours, great nurses, and we've had good experiences with the other doctors, the few times we were unable to see Dr. Pinkley. I could go on and on. I highly, highly recommend. The practice also has an on-call nurse available, so you can call in during business hours with any questions - fabulous for a new mama. They follow up after appointments to check on us, and make sure we're doing all right. They've given us samples of formulas, probiotics, etc...above and beyond. They also have an awesome website with a ton of FAQ's and such.

He has a way to answer stupid questions without making you feel dumb. He doesn't over prescribe or do more than is needed. We really like his theologies in parenting and the "do's and don'ts". He's been super helpful. The office staff are a bit scatter brained at times. They don't always know what's going on or have to get help for what should be simple things. Not all of them. But a few need some coaching. The wait is LONG though. I don't know if they overbook or what, but we've waited well over an hour every time we've gone. Not just waiting room either, like once we get to the room itself, over an hour. I'd rather schedule a later appointment and not wait. Other than the wait, seriously, Dr. Dodd is the best.
