Since this place is the only reason I can claim to have some semblance of sanity (okay, okay, take…read moreit easy)... it's time to not only bump up the star rating but also mention some changes/updates. I moved out A2-way during the earlier days of COVID last year and needed a place to exercise. Remembered enjoying Wolverine Strength and Conditioning several years back and decided to give it a go. At that time, they were doing outdoor workouts, which was a big bonus! Plus, there were a lot of really great people both training and being trained. It was the most social thing that I was doing at the time - so not only did I improve my health by exercising regularly again, I also improved my health by having a social connectedness that was lacking in so many other areas of life. After the summer months, we headed inside. They made nice little "parking spots" with all the equipment separated out so that you had your own space. Of course they required face masks, per state regulations. But they also took extra precautions by giving us cleaning towels and products to wipe down the equipment after every use. They also had us go to the common areas in groups to keep contact down. Now that the weather is turning nice, they have told us that we will be going outside periodically again. It's SOOOO great of them to do that since it really is hard on the equipment, plus it's labor intensive. I honestly can't say enough good things about this gym. If you're looking to get your health in check (especially since we know that health is SO IMPORTANT when it comes to infectious disease) - definitely check this place out. You can drop in for free (one session), and then the $160/month is for month-to-month without an annual commitment. It's like getting a personal trainer - but for a LOT less! I cannot believe the changes I've seen in my body in less than a year... and how much more agile and good I feel. For the record, I'm 47 years old and feel better than I think I've ever felt. I may have gray hair... but I wouldn't mess with me if I were you! ;) Haha.

After a $26 million renovation, the Jackson YMCA introduced a basketball-gym bag rule and lockers…read morethat are too shallow for a full-size gym bag. I'd used the same type of bag for years. Until June 23, 2026, that rule had never been enforced on me--not in the months after the remodel, not on prior visits. When staff pressed it that day, it felt arbitrary and set up a conflict that didn't need to happen. Day to day, it's an all-around poorly managed operation. They held the grand reopening after the renovation with a backboard pad already torn off and jagged metal exposed--it took well over a month to get it repaired after I kept asking. The gym floor is consistently filthy. That wasn't an isolated bad day with one employee. Over the past year I had multiple run-ins with other staff who were rude or dismissive. One involved a staff member who moved to shut the whole basketball gym down over kids misbehaving. Another involved two basketball players I coach and mentor who needed a ride home: while I finished a quick workout (about 15 minutes) in the 24/7 workout area after regular hours, staff wanted them to wait outside in the winter instead of letting them sit in the workout center seating area. My one-year suspension letter cited a pattern of my conduct--not just one incident. On June 23, 2026, the bag dispute in the basketball gym escalated badly. A staff member followed me, used profanity, made deeply offensive comments about my deceased mother, and said he wanted to meet me in the parking lot after his shift in about 45 minutes. He then took off his work shirt, handed over his walkie-talkie, and attempted to physically assault me in the basketball gym. Police were called; staff and other members physically restrained him until police arrived so I could safely leave the building. I filed a formal complaint to the CEO the same night. The next day, when leadership called to hear my side, I was asked not to post about the incident on social media. That left me feeling they were more focused on controlling the story than on member safety. Leadership said an investigation was underway and that security footage was preserved. I was told to avoid that staff member while he remained working in the same gym area. I bought a compliant backpack and used the locker. I tried to resolve things in writing. When the investigation concluded, I received the one-year suspension--not a clear outcome on staff accountability or whether members are actually safe when things go that far. I'm a long-time member. This is my experience: inconsistent enforcement, neglected maintenance, staff attitudes that added unnecessary tension, and a suspension that landed on me after the worst incident. Decide for yourself whether that matches "safe and welcoming for all."

It's right in downtown Manchester, and I've not yet had difficulty finding parking right outside the door. The prices are totally reasonable too! Reach has been an integral part of my fitness journey. How does a stretching/sports massage place factor in you ask? I've suffered from chronic injuries, pain since high school sports. E.g. I've had a back spasm last for 3+ hours (just from bending down to pick up something!!) where I couldn't move and I had to just lay horizontally the entire day. I've never been very limber and never really stretched, but now that I'm in my 30s my body will tell me REAL QUICK if I'm not treating it right. So, I decided I need to be proactive. I was first exposed to Reach from some of my gym members. Since then, Reach has offered 15 min sessions during our Gym Open House, In-House Competition, etc. Per their website, the method is a combination of techniques including high pressure percussion, myofascial work, trigger point release, and active assisted stretching. Based on this, don't expect a relaxing massage. It's going to hurt so good & you'll feel great after! You can choose either a membership (which gets you better value at 2x, 3x, 4x a month+) or a la carte packs. It's relatively convenient to book via the Mind Body app! Also, they have a fair amount of specialists so they great availability. They do get booked up but there are some last minute shifts -- all which you can see in the app!

I grew up a competitive dancer and have taught dance part-time for most of my adult life, so my body has been through a lot. Reach's techniques work through every knot and tension that has built up over the years; it's like a combination between massage and physical therapy. I went back a few more times after that due to specials they offered me. Unfortunately, I had to stop going after three or four times because it is just outrageously expensive. The staff seems friendly and, my few interactions with them, helpful. That said, if you're looking for a bodybuilding/powerlifting gym, this may not be the place for you. The heaviest dumbbells are only 75's. and there aren't a lot of benches. No real decline press to speak of. But there are some decent alternative pieces of equipment you don't see in many places. Hand bikes. Belt squat, and the dedicated deadlift area. All in all, for what it is, it's decent. If you need something more specialized for your trained, and heavier weight, go elsewhere. But for the vast majority of people, this is a good, well equipped gym.

Had a great experience here!…read more 10 stars for the staff (seriously such nice and knowledgable humans), but not so many stars for smelling like a sweaty gym. The restrooms were very clean though! So it's been about 15 years since I've done any belaying and ~nearly 10 years since I've done any bouldering! Basically a newbie all over again. Both rooms (one side is belaying, top roping and the other for only bouldering and competition bouldering) were PACKED on a Sunday afternoon. I'll be back to do a starter package sometime, and I'l have to find a time that's a little less crowded. It did start to clear out around ~5pm-ish. People are very respectful of others' space and move quickly so I felt like I always had something to try. Lots of kiddos here too so fairly family friendly place. They have staff around the rooms too in case you need anything. Ethan was great! It's also pretty sweet that they have a full coffee shop set up in there too. Some people were just sitting, reading, chatting, etc. The offerings look tasty!

Team member spotlight: Will…read more I absolutely love this rec center and gym. It has become one of my favorite places to work out and reset. Parking is always plentiful and easy, which immediately makes the experience stress free. The hours work perfectly for my schedule, especially since I usually go in the morning to early afternoon. There is so much to do here. I have not taken any of the classes yet, but I love knowing they are available and plan to explore them eventually. One of my favorite features is the indoor track. I am also really looking forward to the indoor pool reopening and am excited about the addition of saunas. Saunas are such an important part of overall health and recovery, so that will be a great upgrade. Cleanliness really stands out here. The locker rooms, bathrooms, equipment, and common areas are consistently well maintained. I regularly see staff cleaning throughout the facility, which makes a big difference. The people here are genuinely kind and welcoming. Will, William, in particular, is wonderful. He is always friendly, personable, and remembers me and my family. I also notice how engaged he is with other members, which adds to the sense of community. There is a nice balance of ages here. You do occasionally see younger children, usually elementary age, participating in day or after school programs near the basketball courts, but it never feels overwhelming. I also love that they offer pickleball and a variety of other activities, which makes the space feel inclusive and active for everyone. Overall, this is a clean, well run facility with a strong community feel. I truly enjoy coming here and highly recommend it to anyone looking for a welcoming and well maintained rec center and gym.

I enjoyed going to the Meri Lou rec center for the pool, water aerobics, and gym. It has a bit of…read morean odd layout for the gym, where cardio equipment is split in different rooms from the weight machines and some cardio are in a hall area by the walking track. The weight area isn't watched by employees and is abused by guests. The pool on the other hand is always supervised by a life guard. It's clean and gets lots of use. The water aerobics classes were a lot of fun. They also offer Zumba, basketball, and ping pong. The ping pong table is also in a weird spot, right in front of the ladies locker room. It feels a little weird opening the door to walk in with a bunch of guys playing ping pong. They were always nice but it just seems a little odd. The showers and locker rooms were always clean. They even had a cool swimsuit drying machine, so you don't have to put a wet suit back into bags. Overall, inexpensive and provides a lot of options for getting exercise
