Lovely suburban walkway, very convenient if you're staying in an area hotel. Just perfect for a little peace and quiet with mild exercise if you're at a seminar at the same place and time your hotel has a hundred middle school age cheerleaders with their insane mothers. The walk is free, which is the only thing that's not overpriced in the vicinity. There are only two minor improvements that might be possible for the future. I'm from Wisconsin, the heat here is hard to handle, the walk has very few places to sit and rest and none are in any shade. Second, it's a victim of its own picturesque environs; it's so popular it borders on crowded at times. Don't forget to bring your own water. read more

Cute location for photos! This place has an old timey feel. I took some photos for a frieren group cosplay here, but I saw many quinceanera and wedding photos being taken too. In the afternoon, the light reflects off the buildings and gives off a soft light! You can park on the bridge or in a parking lot (parking lot is $20/day). read more

This place, IMHO, is one of DFW's underrated gems. Conveniently located in Las Colinas, near state highway 114 (otw to the airport from Dallas), this canal is surrounded by living spaces and various eateries. Some of the structures surrounding the water look European. It's like an escape from Texas. You can take a boat ride in the canal, if weather permits or you can stroll/go for a run around the canal. We loved the atmosphere at the Mandalay Canal Walk. While we waited for our table to open up for dinner at a nearby dining spot, we strolled along the sidewalk near the water and watched the colors over Lake Carolyn as the sun began to set. There were also colorful Adirondack chairs to sit in while you wait. During the day, we saw that there were pedal boats and stand up paddle boards available to rent. We would like to return soon to try some more area businesses. read more

Adjoining with a lake nearby, the path along what they call a canal is a new-looking structure, made of stone and wide enough for groups. It seems meant to evoke the San Antonio Riverwalk, and in a more general sense I guess any time someone finds water in Texas they feel compelled to maximize it. They have some fancy lights that glow at night, and given the warm weather in the area, a breeze off the water makes for pleasant walking. read more

We took our wedding pictures here back in November of 2019. Can't believe I haven't written my five star review for this place yet!!! These canals are 100% GORGEOUS!!! Every time we look back at our wedding photos, it looks as if we travelled to Rome, Italy just for our wedding. Still speechless at how this photoshoot turned out. Shoutout to Victor Zerga in Seattle for killing this!! The Mandalay Canals are based in a free and open area of a beautiful canal with occasional gondolas passing by like you're frozen back in time. Stephen and I didn't take a ride ourselves, as we had our entire wedding party with us and a limited amount of time before getting ready for our wedding reception, so we took advantage of the impeccable scenery with beautiful architecture, old buildings and bridges. The canals are tucked into a small area in Las Colinas. It's a completely hidden gem and not many people even know it exists! I highly recommend you check it out for those important photoshoots. I live in apartments on the canal so I spend a lot of time walking, here. Very scenic and peaceful trails. Parking can be scarce, though. Be sure and park in visitor parking to avoid being towed. read more

One of the best parts of living in Las Colinas is living by Lake Carolyn and Madalay Canal. I love being able to either run or walk the paths along the canal and the lake, adjusting the distance to whatever I feel like doing. One thing I never realized I would enjoy is watching the bird populations change throughout the seasons. There are lots of new shops, restaurants, and finished construction projects. There are many places to take photos: perfect for pets, families, and milestones (eg, graduation, engagement, etc). I feel safe at all times: late at night or early in the morning. read more

Beautiful peaceful and lovely surroundings. It was always a pleasure to run and job on these grounds surrounded by the water, trees, plants and ducks. Close to everything I never had to leave the place. Walking distance to lots of stuff, stores, and dry cleaners, plus the rail runs right by here. ALERT: Hidden gem! This side of Irving is pretty quiet and not many people are walking around (or maybe it was just so hot outside that everyone didn't want to be outdoors). The canal walk is a neat little place. After dinner nearby, took a stroll and stumbled upon the canal walk. There's metal bridge and steps that take you lakeside. There's a trail that goes around the lake and it's a great place for a run or a stroll. The trees that are planted along here are especially green too! Not too much to do except for that, but great for a scenic picture. read more

If you live on Lake Carolyn or on the canals you know how beautiful this lake is and can get, especially at sunset. Beautiful sunsets on the lake makes it a perfect place to walk with your special someone before you have dinner or after. Great place to take your date for a walk just to talk Without crowds! If you walk or run the entire length of the sidewalks you will get about 4.5 miles total, which is a great workout! About 1 mile of that are the actual "canals" Although the lake sidewalk trails are well used don't be surprised if you don't see a single person, that's the best part of lake Carolyn, at any time of day it is very quiet and peaceful even though alot of people live in the area. Safe area with private las colinas security driving around the area. Very clean area. Safe, quiet, and beautiful to walk, jog, or ride your bike. Nobody will bother you! Seriously nobody. Skip the restaurants around the lake and canals. Although you can grab some pizza or drinks at the restaurants nearby you well most likely be disappointed. Until the new developments come in I would skip and eat someplace else after your walk. Street parking, just look for signs. Best time to visit the lake is early mornings probably till 10am or for sunsets. Bring water, no water fountains on trail Detour off the canals and lake to see the mustangs at las colinas. All the way around the lake and canal is about 3 miles, which is almost a perfect 5k run! The architecture is beautiful if you go towards the restaurants, and if you go the opposite way you run into the "kissing bridge" and the beautiful Lake Carolyn! read more

The Mandalay Canal Walk at Las Colinas is a nice, safe, place to get a morning or afternoon walk or jog in. It is typically pretty quiet as it is way underutilized. I first tried it out because so many folks had mentioned in reviews that it had a nice ambiance and charm to it and I found the same experience to be true for me. There is something quite serene being in the city and walking along a canal and seeing gondolas float by as you stroll past and into quaint shops and restaurants. It is also close to the famous Mustangs in Las Colinas too, so if you come to check it out, be sure to go see them as well! I am glad to have come across this little oasis in the Irving, and I will certainly be frequenting it, especially as the weather becomes a bit warmer. read more

I did a search for nearby parks and this is where it took me. What I encountered was totally unexpected. In the middle of a cluster of office buildings and restaurants is this actual canal running through what could have very easily been mistaken for a side street or road. When I pulled up to the Canal to find a parking space, it was packed. The parking is basically on the street for those who just want to visit the canal. Unless you're going to one of the office buildings or restaurants which have their own parking structures, you'll have to park where ever you can find legal street parking. I finally made myself a parking place near the stairs of the canal. The view was breathtaking, to say the least. The canal ran through the building structure as far as the eye could see. I went down the stairs and took in the view of the surrounding flowers, rock structures and the huge, beautiful clock that was made into a tower of one of the buildings. It was quiet, peaceful and relaxing. There were very few people there and the few people that were there were just walking through. There are overpasses along the canal were concrete benches have been placed. This is the perfect place to read a book, meditate, or have lunch, etc. It's also a great place to go biking or even skate which is what I choose to do. The water in the canal looks sort of green but it flows briskly and it's beautiful. I daydreamed of waking up and looking out my patio to a view like this. This is a place that you must see to appreciate. I recommend coming to the Canal just for the peace and beauty. read more

Regardless, it's very beautiful here and there's lots of runners/walkers. This canal in Las Colinas is absolutely beautiful! You can even rent a gondola and get a gorgeous view of the water. So romantic! Take a stroll here and watch the sunset and the ducks along the way. Right now in fact would be the perfect time to go with this lovely spring weather! There are a bunch of local eateries around here too so it's great to come even around lunch time and do some shopping. The Canal Walk is a hidden gem in the heart of downtown Las Colinas. As others have mentioned, it is quiet, peaceful and safe. I am bummed there are not more businesses open, but I am confident with the growth spurt in the area, the new shops will start popping up. Many great restaurants in the area, so this is a lovely place to walk to burn off the extra calories you just shoved into your mouth, especially if you just had nearby Italian Cafe. I ran along the canal the 2 mornings that I was staying in the area. It's great for running, not at all crowded in February, and a nice change of pace from a treadmill. But be careful because the surface isn't entirely even, and if damp, it can be a bit slippery. Also, there are a few smokers hanging out here, which isn't awesome when you're running. But the scenery and not having to deal with cars makes up for that. read more

On suggestion from a friend made our first visit today 2/5/19. The parking lot was busy for 6:45 PM but most people were seated around the bar. We were seated immediately, received our menus and then service just stopped dead. I can not recall waiting that long. Very few tables had folks seated near us. So it was not like they were busy. After about 10-15 minuets maybe longer I was tempted to leave. Finally someone came over and asked if someone had taken our drink orders and she expressed she did not know who's was responsible for our table. Our drinks came out and our waitress asked what we were having and I said not the traditional appetizer but we wanted salads instead. She provided one salad not two. We let it go and decided to move on and share the salad. We both finished the salad and then another very long wait not as long as we did to be recognized maybe 10 min and finally our waitress comes back gets our order and this time we told her we were going to share the catfish plate. I had been informed before I came that one platter would feed many. My wife and I are big eaters and sure enough more then enough catfish for two. The catfish was out of this world, best in Dallas and I have been in Dallas over 45 years. I did not care for the fries my wife liked em. Will I go back? Absolutely. The lousy service is not excusable some people if they did not get the catfish may not be back. Count on good food here if you can put up with the service. read more
