I volunteer after work when I can and bring a shelter dog here for a walk. Even when it's hot outside, the trails have lots of shade from the tall trees, so it's much cooler than most parks. There's also a creek where the dogs love to cool off and a splash pad for kids to enjoy. This has become my favorite park to bring the shelter dogs because they get to stretch their legs, sniff around, splash in the creek, and just enjoy being outside for a while. If you live nearby and have a little free time, I definitely recommend checking out the shelter's Doggy Day Out program. Taking a dog out for a walk or an adventure for a few hours can really brighten their day, and it's a rewarding experience for you too.

No water balloons are allowed since they clog up the drains. I would recommend bringing your own shade and chair. And snacks and drinks! Whew, it gets super hot. Fun park though!

They also put in some emergency calling stations (pictured) which isn't a bad idea for any trail, although I'm not sure how useful they are. During the day there are always lots of people on the trails and at night there's no lighting, so it would be unwise to walk there anyway. In any case, we were pretty excited to learn about the new bathrooms, as that was one of the main drawbacks to the Nature Center before. The area is basically a group of small ponds and creeks with trails surrounding them - some paved, some dirt. Much of the trail is shaded, which makes it a great place to go walking any time of year. There are birds, ducks, and turtles - we once saw a VERY large turtle swimming in the creek here... maybe the biggest turtle I've ever seen. Many people come here to fish in the ponds as well. The trail is stroller and bike friendly. There is a small, underwhelming playground at the parking lot, but we never spend any time there... too much nature to enjoy along the creek, ponds, and trails. My kids love coming here, and we're thankful for the opportunity to get out and exercise in such a beautiful spot.

This is a great park. The playground is new and fun, with features kids love - like a zip line and…read moresitting merry go round. It's plenty big, with a baby section and a big kid section. There are swings, multiple slides, and an assortment of bridges and ropes to climb on. The best part are the expansive shade canopies, which cover the majority of the structure and allow for play in both sun and rain (although, on a rainy morning like this morning, they don't prevent the kids from getting wet or the structure from being slippery. But hey, this just adds to the fun!). Bark ground covering. The one downside here is that the spectator benches are outside of the canopy, away from any trees, and in full sun. I'm thankful they covered the play area, but why no love for the mamas on the sidelines? Not far from the playground there is a large pavilion and multiple covered picnic tables. They aren't right next to the playground like the benches are, but they're close enough to still be within earshot of the kids. It's a fine solution for hot, sunny days. The park also has volleyball courts, baseball fields, and a nice bathroom with plenty of stalls.

There is plenty of parking, and there are sidewalks all the way around the lake for a nice stroll. Dogs are allowed, but please pick up after them - people do a good job of keeping the park clean. There are wrought iron benches set all around the lake if you need to take a rest or just want to enjoy the peaceful tranquility. The lake is tucked back behind a residential area, so there is no thru traffic. I recommend this gem as a lovely place to walk for fitness, meditate, stop and have a picnic, or just sit and read in the quiet.

1/17/21 This was the first time ever that we have visited the Bedford Boys Ranch Park. We like the…read moreneighborhood that surrounded the park, and we noticed the ducks and Canadian geese throughout the as well as some turtles that were basking in the sun. We also noticed that part of the park is under construction which we've became aware that the city is up grading a part of the park. From all appearances the park is really cleaned, we also noticed a young man propose to his fiance and of course she said yes. LOL There were also a few young people playing Frisbee golf and they really looked like they were having some fun. :) We also met a nice lady who was walking her dogs who lived at some of the nearby apartments and she said that she had been living there for a few years and we all notice a man fishing other people jogging and just having a great time and truth be told the weather was also nice for a stroll. We'll visit this place yet again. Can't wait to see the upgrades to the park when its all said and done. I recommend this lovely place to walk for fitness, meditate, stop and have a picnic, grilling with friends, a game of Frisbee golf, fishing, and/or just sit and read in the quiet.

Grapevine Springs Preserve (or Grapevine Springs Park - I've seen it listed both ways) is a nice…read morepark with trails adjacent to the Coppell senior center and bordering Grapevine Creek. The green space is beautiful, with little rolling hills, a bridge, and grassy open areas. There are picnic tables and BBQs under the shade of trees. No play structure. Clean, new bathrooms on the back side of the senior center. The trails are short, but well maintained. My three year old had no problem navigating them. For the most part all of the paths are stroller friendly, but you will definitely need a jogger to get over some of the tree roots. My kids enjoyed hiking down off the trails to the creek and throwing rocks. By comparison to other creeks in the area, I think there was less trash in and around the water. We live by Little Bear Creek and this is a major problem. There are residential neighborhoods surrounding the trails but with so many trees, they only just slightly peek through. Overall, a nice little escape to nature right in suburbia.

One of a kind park for its focus on accessibility with extra-wide, smooth paths throughout…read more--including the playground which is two-tiered and offers activities for a range of ages, base/softball diamond, pavilions with picnic tables, and a wonderful winding trail which flows between two small ponds with plentiful picnic tables under shade trees. A great place for an outdoor lunch break, some exercise, playtime, or family time. I am so thankful that Irving has such a beautiful park with such an intentionally inclusive design. I hope that some future maintenance or re-design might be in the works for the restrooms which do not have functioning facets at this time and feature only one metal, latrine-style toilet which isn't very user-friendly. Apart from that, this park features great design, landscaping and offerings that make you feel you've retreated from the city a bit. I've never visited in the evenings--only afternoons but it's been pretty peaceful in those times.
