I am new to the area and looking for a jewelry store to replace my jeweler that I've been using for the last 15 years. This jewelry store is a strip mall that is shared with a gas station. You have to press a buzzer on the door for them to let you in, and I was greeted promptly by a young man. I asked if they clean jewelry and what the cost was. He said yes, they do and there was no charge. I gave him my ring and he inspected use the loop to inspect the prongs to make sure nothing was loose. Next he took my ring behind the wall that I couldn't see anything and then a sales woman came out to help me. I got my ring back, super shiny and clean, but I'm very hesitant that they don't clean the rings in front of you. I understand the jewelry store has been in business for many years but being new to the area I'd like to be able to watch my ring as it's been cleaned. The sales person also mentioned that most of their larger stones are lab grown diamonds mostly in a setting with natural diamonds. They had a large selection to choose from, but I wasn't there to do shopping. I was there to get my rings cleaned and try to find a nice new local Jeweler. Horrible people. My middle school aged daughter saved up her money so that on a family vacation to NYC she could go to china town and buy a knock off Michael Kors watch. Yes.... it was a fake Michael Kors, but she didn't care. She just wanted a cool looking chunky watch. it was a mans watch, which was the look she was going for. Of course, it was too big, so we brought it by to get it resized, which she was also paying for. What happened this was disgusting. The owner then proceeded to make fun of her and belittle her for having a fake MK watch. Told her she should have worked harder to save for a real one. Telling her "why bother getting it sized, it's junk" and "all your friends will no it's fake". She was crushed and felt embarrassed. No one should ever talk to a child like that. I smoothed things over, but when my daughter left the store, I let him know that he was an ass and we'll never be back. And we won't. Over the years, my wedding ring got bent and had a couple of small nicks in it. I decided to look at getting it repaired. A google search pointed me to a jewelry store close to my house so I checked them out. They quoted me $300.00. As I've been unemployed for a while now, that was too high for me. I want to caution anyone who takes jewelry here to please ensure that you have an appraisal done and in hand prior to dropping off your jewelry. My elderly mother had a stone she has had for twenty years that she brought here to have set into a ring. The stone was a Santa Maria aquamarine that was quite large. After having the stone for more than a month, Gary (the jeweler) call my mother telling her he broke her stone and that it must have been glass and he would show her when she came in. She returned to the store in a couple of weeks, as they live out of town, to be told by Vickie that in fact her stone was "missing" and could not be located. I came in today to inquire about the stone and how it could have been lost, only to be called a liar as Gary became belligerent, loud and used foul words. A Christmas Story! A couple of weeks before Christmas 2019, I started looking for a diamond for my brides wedding ring that had been lost. It was pear shaped and was set into a nice setting and custom band. I had been to several box stores and was still searching. I had a slow moment in a busy day and in the Mandarin area and googled local stores. Mandarin jewelers popped up and I headed that way. I met Gary, showed him the ring and his look was interesting, with a smile on his face, he said he would be right back. He went to the back and brought back a beautiful pear shaped flawless diamond sitting in the setting and looked made for the piece. Almost a half carat larger, and stunning. There was a story behind the ring. He had sold the ring to a lady some 15 years earlier and she had brought it back and he purchased it back. BUT, this not only happened that same day but just a couple of hours before I walked into his shop. We discussed price and he told me what he would do and when he would have it done. I asked if he would hold it for about 4 days and he said ok, but would have to put it out soon after that. I respected what he said since xmas was around the corner. I called back on day 4 and said let's do it. The ring was finished when promised. I can't even begin to say how beautiful the ring is now, quality work, stunning stone,and upgraded, with appraisal.
