As a frequent guest, I can summarize Mandy's in few simple points from different perspectives Food: 1- great diner food, weather you go for either a burger or a club sandwich! It's excellent and I personally find it better than most diners found in the US. 2- burgers are not the best, but yet delicious! 3- personally speaking their breakfast is the best and u can't go wrong with any of their breakfast menu items- I always go with the oriental express which appears in the photo. However, going with simple bagel is a great choice too. Service: A bit slow whether they're full or not. Their service is inconsistent, some of their waitresses are keen to please and they acknowledge the slow service. Whilst some don't care. STAY AWAY FROM THAT RAFAELA WAITRESS- she snaps and screams at guests occasionally with no apparent reason! Or simply rude at her best! Atmosphere: Top! Genuine! And got great vibes! Love the railway! Price: You can't go wrong! I haven't seen cheaper and money worth in all of Heidelberg! Rating:- If it wasn't for the frustration with service or high probability of getting screamed at from this rafaella waitress, a five star is what it is!

The location is fine for us, 10min from Hbf. The place is fun and enjoyable. The food is ok. We both ordered pancake. Looking at the menu we were like 2 pancake for each, is it enough for us? But when they got on the table, those pancakes were huge. As for the flavor, huh~, average is the word I would say. Or maybe just acceptable. Nothing surprise. Ok, ok, Not as good as IHOP.

Not crazy about the pink, but this place has always been crammed, it's part of its flair!

Outside of the rail car and inside decor, I will not return. Good was almost completely cold. Service was good.

Looking for that special 50's diner style flair paired with some of the best food the American…read morecuisine has to offer ? Look no further as Benjamin's American diner in Mannheim has got it all! Situated right near the B38 in Gorxheimer Str. this diner style restaurant was modeled after the interior of a 50's train car. Seasonally matched American evergreens welcome you when you enter Benjamin's and are greated in English by one of the staff members. Seating is quite comfy and casual just like you would imagine it. Red leather benches mix with heavy wooden tables. Inside you can also find a large bar where you can enjoy drinks you would otherwise only find in the U.S.: Dr. Pepper, Welch's, A&W Just to name a few. The menu is quite short the selection however is great! Whether you're looking for a burger with fries (best one's you can get around here), a nice New York Sirloin Strip steak with A1 steak sauce and homefries, a nice summer salad with caesar's chicken on top, or baked potatoes filled with sour cream, you'll find it here. Desserts are highly recommended, above all the Sundae Brownie. Extremely recommended is the lunch special where you can get a burger of your choice with french fries for just 4,90 EUR. Pricing's alright, given the fast food character of the dishes though it could be a tad cheaper. Regularly the diner hosts special events such as Thanksgiving, Christmas, or Super Bowl buffets where you can find seasonal specialities. Reservations are an absolute must here though. The place itself is divided in up- and downstairs whereas the first one usually is only used if the latter one is fully booked or during one of the a.m. One of the few negative aspects of Benjamin's American Diner are its bathrooms. They certainly should hire somebody to fix the everlasting bad smell that has been coming out of the urinals for the last 3-4 years now. Other than that this place is an awesome choice for weekend lunch with the family or just for getting quick lunch during weekdays. I've been coming here for the past 6-7 years now and certainly count Benjamin's as one of my regular places to go.

My husband surprised me with takeout from Benjamin's on Thanksgiving day 2008. I was a bit reluctant to taste American-style food from a German restaurant but much to my amazement it was quite delicious. That really hit the nail on the head with the stuffing - it was delicious. I was only missing the mac 'n cheese, maybe next year they'll surprise me with it.

Walking in felt like stepping back in time. I doubt much has changed about this place in decades, and that's entirely a compliment. We were seated near a window and the ambiance was everything you'd want, cozy, warm, and genuinely inviting. I loved the feel of it. Our server was very kind. Her English was limited, but she was gracious and patient as I attempted to speak German, and was generous enough to tell me I did well. It added to the charm of the whole experience. Now, the food. The potatoes that came with the schnitzel were the best German potatoes I've ever had. The schnitzel itself was delicious, exactly what you'd hope for. The cheese spaetzle was a highlight as well, rich and satisfying. Plan on sharing it. The one miss was the pizza my sister-in-law ordered, which was fine but felt out of place. Stick to the German classics and you won't be disappointed. Would love to return if I ever make it back to Heidelberg.

They check as appropriate and get what you need quickly. Our dinner was really good. We did have reservations. We even enjoyed some non-alcoholic beer. We had apple strudel for dessert, which was also really good. We were staying at the hotel, so just had to go upstairs after dinner. For the hotel - the only difficulty was the check in. We weren't sure where to go to check in. So we ended up asking the wait staff. We walked through the restaurant with our luggage to the the check in desk. Our room was comfortable and homey. The door required an old fashioned key to open. You can't beat the location being right by the old bridge.
