I came in for a bob haircut, a style I've worn many times before, so I'm very familiar with how it should sit and feel. Unfortunately the cut I received was extremely bulky and heavy on the sides. I have a lot of hair, but the weight wasn't distributed properly, so it felt thick like a broom and didn't lay well around my face. I reached out to Jadah the same day to give her the opportunity to fix it. I ended up waiting about a week for a correction appointment. When I went back, the adjustment unfortunately made things worse. Instead of redistributing the weight of the bob, my hair was thinned out too much and additional layers were added, which left the haircut looking choppy and uneven. The appointment also felt rushed, and for the price of the service I expected much more attention to detail. Even small finishing touches like cleaning up the hairs at the nape of my neck weren't done. I understand mistakes happen, but the technique for this particular haircut just wasn't there. I gave the stylist an opportunity to correct it and the result still wasn't right, so I'm sharing my experience so others can make an informed decision. I don't really post reviews but this place is just that good. After jumping around from salon to salon because hairdressers had left establishments I was on the hunt for a good curly girl cut and a place that gave a good blow out for frizzy hair because believe it or not you can get a bad blow out! Tried a few in Logan square but then I stumbled upon a review for this place and thought why not let me give it a try. Went to see Joanne and she is amazing! She knows her stuff! When I get color I don't love copper tones and this girl gets my color right every time. Every blow out is flawless and without frizz at my edges. The vibe is chill, everyone is so humble and all of the stylists literally do amazing work. This really is a place for everyone. And they will work with all kinds of hair and hair colors. It's a GEM! Lisaundra cut and colored my hair two weeks ago and I can't go over how much I love it. I have curly hair and many stylists just want to straighten it but Lisaundra knew how to cut it to make the hair and my face look fantastic. The cut is adorable and very flattering, the color looks great, and it looks much closer to my real color. Just a complete and total waste of my hard earned money spent $390 and got a reck of a hair cut and color, I went in with a picture, asking to turn this blonde yellow hair into something darker, and more fall like vibe and still walked out with blonde hair! I don't remember the name of the person who did my hair, but I think she was the receptionist. I found out recently that some businesses will actually pay other people to post positive comments! I am so, so happy with my first service(s) at Mane Refinery. I first booked a consultation with Lauren for a color correction and she was wonderful from the beginning and able to fit me in within two weeks! Lauren quickly identified what had gone wrong and put together a plan to get me to a better place. On the day of the service itself, Lauren walked me through the plan step-by-step and checked in after each process, offering options along the way. I left thrilled with my new color and cut. I went from having way too many orange-gold highlights to beautiful silvery ashy dimensional highlights. It was just the first step in blonding me for my wedding but the fact that I love even this in-between stage says so much! Other notes: - Lauren offered a price estimate in advance and it was accurate! :) - No ATM so if you prefer to tip in cash, grab some in advance. - Lauren did 95% of my service herself vs. some other salons where they might take on 2-3+ clients concurrently and have the apprentice do some or much of the work. read more

By far the best salon in Chicago. Lauren works here and I've gone to her for my hair for the last decade almost- I even followed her to this salon. She can do literally anything. She made my dark brown hair blonde when I was younger and now she's helped me do highlights with extensions for the summer and is going to darken my hair for the winter. She works closely with her clients to give them the perfect look.
