Mangal Kebab House located along Warden Ave near Metropolitan Rd (near Hwy 401) serves up tasty Turkish food which is also Halal. The restaurant is somewhat hidden inside a plaza where it's easy to miss if you are driving quickly by. The restaurant looks deceivingly small from the outside but when you enter there are many tables for big groups as well as a small patio. It is also fully accessible where there is plenty of parking as well.
Menu wise, Mangal Kebab House serves up many cold appetizers, soups, salads, doner, wraps, grilled meats (including platters to share), pan dishes, pides, pasta dishes, as well as desserts. They also have a small kids menu as well. Although they are halal, the restaurant also serves alcohol. They also do have a selection of non-alcoholic beverages as well. For the meats, there is only beef, lamb, or chicken available (no pork). During the weekend mornings they also do breakfast.
I was recommended to check out Mangal Kebab House from a coworker and decided to head there with friends on a Friday night. Reservations are available and recommended as the place does get busy. I made reservations online which was pretty easy and straightforward.
My friends and I had a great time at Mangal Kebab House! We were given free bread and 3 small dips as soon as we sat down. At the end of the meal we were also given teas as well. Service was great and our waitress answered any questions we had regarding the menu. We also never felt rushed to leave as we were chatting and catching up as well. During our time there the place got busier as the night went on, there were even people coming in at 9pm with their families for a meal!
What was also great was that the night we went (Friday) there was also live music (not sure if this is every night or only on specific nights). There were many people celebrating their birthdays (around 4-5 people) that night and the musician would sing happy birthday to the whole restaurant.
Food wise, my friends and I all got different dishes from the grill section of the menu. I got the tavuk adana (spicy ground chicken mixed with lamb and beef fat, grilled on skewers, served with bulgur, roasted tomato, roasted pepper, red cabbage and onion salad), which was $28. Food arrived at a reasonable time and the portions were pretty big. I couldn't finish my food and ended up bringing the leftovers home. In terms of my grilled ground chicken skewer, it was so juicy and tasty. All the other components of the plate also worked harmoniously with the chicken and I enjoyed my dish very much.
My friends also commented that their dishes were also extremely flavourful, tender, and juicy. Everything was delicious and we all agreed that these were some of the best kebabs that we've ever tasted in the city!
Wish we had room for desserts since that display of desserts looked mighty tempting.
Overall, one of the best places for kebabs in the Scarborough area. As I write this review I'm still thinking of the delicious food that I had consumed. Very tasty and delicious Turkish food paired along with great service! Can't wait to return to try more dishes in the future. read more
