this was our first time at Manga Manga it is a smaller place it is nice as you walk in be sure to look at the white board on the left side for the specials. I ordered the Sausage and peppers it came with a soup or a salad I chose the wedding soup it had spinach and looked like egg drop soup in a chicken broth it was very tasty. my food came and it was very good it had lots of italian sausage and onions and bell peppers in it. On the side there was bowtie pasta in a butter garlic sauce there was enough to take home for lunch the next day. We ordered the soufle you have to order early 25 minutes to get to your table. it was very good Christy made some good suggestions kept our glasses full and very attentive Will I be back yes I think so I will bring friends next time read more

We've been coming here for 20+ years and went Saturday night looking to celebrate my mother-in-law's birthday. The place was packed and we waited about 20 minutes for a table of 7 (5 adults and 2 kids). As the waitress took our order, she proceeded to ask each one of us soup/salad whether it came with our dish or not. Pay attention otherwise you may unknowingly be ordering a soup/salad thinking it is included with your meal to later find out it is not. The garlic bread which is complimentary was delicious and the calamari appetizer we ordered was good, better than most places, but those were unfortunately the highlights of the dinner for me personally. My brother-in-law had to send back his silverware and appetizer plate that was set out for him were really dirty. Mine were questionable but I just went with it. I ordered the Linguine Frutti Di Mare at the recommendation of the waitress. Once it arrived it had an extremely watery sauce and looked more like a Cioppino (seafood stew} then any type of pasta entree dish with a sauce. The flavors were okay at best, but I was shocked at how watery the sauce was. I even asked the waitress if it was supposed to be so watery to which she had no response. I don't know if they are watering down all the sauces to stretch ingredients or if they don't drain the water from the pasta before they mix them - either way it was way too watery. My 5-year-old son had spaghetti with marinara sauce that was extremely watery as well and he refused to eat it after a couple of bites. My son always eats spaghetti with red sauce everywhere we go so we were shocked to see that he wasn't going to. We asked the waitress if we could get something else since he didn't like it to which she stated she would have to check with management. She came back and said unfortunately we could not nor would they remove it from the bill, but she did say she could get us some Alfredo sauce that we could mix in to the spaghetti and red sauce pasta. My 8-year-old ordered Fettuccini Alfredo which had good flavors but was extremely watery as well. It was more of a scampi sauce (water/butter sauce} then anything remotely close to a creamy alfredo sauce. My wife and brother-in-law who also ordered pasta dishes agreed their sauces were extremely watery as well. Lastly, when the bill came, we were shocked to see a $6 fee for tiny little dish of Alfredo Sauce that the waitress went out of her way and offered to bring my 5-year-old son so he would eat his dish. She should have at least let us know there was a charge for it if it wasn't going to be free. I do not plan on going back and would much rather eat at Renato's in Westminster. read more

Dining with Diane and my son and daughter-in-law, we began with Carciofo Alla Griglia, Mozzarella Marinara, and complimentary Garlic Bread, which was replenished once upon request, and without charge. The bread was light and addictive, as usual. And breaded batons of Mozzarella Marinara were superb with a mild Marinara Sauce draped over them. Only the artichokes were wanting, with little vegetative meat on the leaves. For me a piping hot bowl of Stracciatella, with egg yolk and spinach circling on top, was next, followed by a pretty good House Salad with Creamy Italian Dressing. And Sausage & Peppers nicely covered by a saucy Red Sauce, featuring small tubular hunks of mild sausage and bell peppers cooked al dente, nicely filled out my memorable repast. Others in my party very much liked their Lobster Ravioli with Alfredo Sauce, Beef Ravioli with Penne Pasta, and Veal Piccata with Bowtie Pasta. Service by Rachel C. was excellent. And we liked our table placement in a corner of the restaurant, which promoted private conversation. For me, Mangia Mangia remains the premier Italian restaurant in Huntington Beach. My girlfriend ordered food from here for takeout and it was horrendous. The garlic bread was dry & old. The salad had leaves that weren't even green anymore. My Lasagna had one layer of noodles and the rest was cheese and cheap marinara. The spaghetti was some of the worst I've ever eaten. The soup was the only good thing we got lol. Threw out the leftovers because of how displeased we were. The cherry on top is they forget to give us utensils & napkins for takeout. Tried two new dishes today. One of their seafood pasta with white wine sauce, and not the traditional red, and their Seabass on their special. Comes with the side salad. The food is excellent as always, and Service is top-notch. I love that they give us unlimited garlic bread to consume while we're eating more pasta. This is gluten heaven. The decor reminds me a little bit of a little Italy shop as I just went there last year and thoroughly enjoy the people here they always greet us cause they recognize us for coming so often. My toddler wanted to go to a fancy dinner and asked for pasta. After a quick yelp search, mangia mangia came up and seemed like a great option. Upon walking in, it was really cute and a fun environment. We were seating pretty quickly. They were so patient with my three year old, which I really appreciate. The garlic bread was outstanding. I had to make myself stop eating it. After some recommendations, I ordered the penne guiliana and customized a simple pasta with broccoli for my little one. My pasta was incredible. I've been going to this restaurant for about 20 years and always loved it. It changed ownership about 4 or 5 years ago and I was worried it would change, but it didn't. The food is as good as always if not better. The new owner added new specials, I tried them all and could recommend any of them. My son particularly likes the lasagna and the spaghetti bolognese. I love the lobster ravioli, the salmon with pesto sauce and my husband loves the swordfish. They even have my number and when they have osso buck night they text me to let me know. If you like dessert, the tiramisu or the chocolate or vanilla soufflé are to die for! I enjoy the homey and friendly atmosphere, the staff has been there for a long time and it makes the place feel like family. read more

Our waiter was really nice and pointed to the specials board facing us. They said the lasagna was supposed to be a favorite so I ordered that. The servings here are pretty big. The lasagna looked great but it wasn't that flavorful. The sauce tasted plain. It was just ok. They brought us bread with was yummy garlic bread. I love soup so I got a cup of their minestrone but it was also lacking in flavor, very disappointed. I was eyeing the risotto and one of my friends got it. That was the best dish here. Big portions but everything lacked good flavor. I am not sure since the clientele is mostly older people. That shouldn't matter really. My wife got the manicotti and she sent it back. No flavor. Oh well least we tried the place Oh I forgot that I had the spamoni . My favorite and go to order are the risotto with sausage, fettuccine gabriella with sausage, and if I feel seafood then definitely the linguine frutti de mare. The entrees are also amazing, it comes with salad and pasta, for the entree can't go wrong with any of the veals or chicken. i especially love the veal parmigiana and the chicken Calabrese. to be honest you can't go wrong with any of the dishes here. I came here on a Monday night, it was my first time here and I loved it. It was a little bit busy but the hostess managed to get us in even without a reservation! The service was amazing, the young lady that sat us was so sweet. Our server Christy was also amazing! She would check up on us constantly and explain any questions I had about the food. I got the chicken Pappagallo, my daughter got the chicken piccata, and my other two daughters shared a chicken fettuccine Alfredo. I had a few bites of my daughter's food and it was delicious! I really liked the chicken pappgallo with the vegetables, the soup is also very good! The garlic bread is delicious and addicting! For dessert, we had the vanilla soufflé and it was fantastic! We also had tiramisu and it was the best tiramisu we had ever had! Everything I tried here was SO GOOD! The veal and chicken I tried was so tender. The pastas are cooked perfectly al dente and the sauces are perfectly seasoned. Mangia Mangia is one of the best local Italian restaurants in OC. I recently took my friends here, and they were amazed at the quality of the food. The service was also extremely friendly and personable, even though it was basically a full house! My favorites of the night were definitely the Ricotta Cheesecake, Risotto Salsiccia, and surprisingly the Chicken Calabrese. Don't let the strip mall location fool you, this Italian restaurant has been welcoming patrons for over 40 years and delivering fresh pasta and gracious service as the ambiance of the dining room transports you to Italy. This restaurant was recommended to us and Carlo, our server, made great recommendations. After a very long work day, we weren't that hungry but felt like good pasta. We were lucky enough to get the last table for 2 on Saturday night which is always a good omen. As we read over the menu, I ordered a glass of the Super Tuscan wine and hubby had the Prosecco. I had the House Salad which was so fresh and well dressed and we both devoured the garlic bread basket. All the dishes coming out of the kitchen looked fantastic but with Carlo's guidance, we chose the lasagne to share. When it came to the table, the lasagne was piping hot and a very generous portion. The bolognese sauce had the perfect flavor profile and it was balanced by the fresh pasta sheets and the rich cheese sauce. It went so well with my Super Tuscan wine. After finishing 2/3, we boxed up the rest for later and ordered 2 affogatos. That was a 5 star meal and service. We look forward to going back! read more

I don't mind a nice bite on the grains, but i should have to position the rice in my mouth just to break it apart and then turn kind of chalky. The FLAVOR was there though. So I gave some to my husband. I felt like a pesto dish and our waitress said that they could do a l y thing with pesto. One of the worst Italian meals I've had anywhere around here. We came here 15 years ago and I remember it being decent. Not this time. Caesar salad was bland to the point where it seemed like there was no dressing. Wife got ravioli that was ok but a little watery. I ordered the lasagne and it was awful. Texture of a wet paste. Had no red sauce in it so the bechamel melded with the noodles to form a gelatinous mess. Highly NOT recommended. Truly a one of a kind. The bread was the only thing we really enjoyed. I have been coming here since the early 2000's and it was a great cozy date spot. Family run with the same servers/wait staff who make us feel like we are coming home after a long trip. Their faces smile in recognition and they even remember our complicated orders by heart! Fast forward to 2010's, i brought my kiddo and we did art work on the placemats and brought homework afterschool while we ate lunch or dinner. Mangia Mangia made us feel so loved and cared for when our world felt like it was falling apart. The wait staff lit up and welcomed us... we all grew together.
