This is a great supermarket with a wide selection of foods. However, my experience the other day was a disappointing one when I bought FP Beef Back Ribs For Soup. In the package, I found these ribs meatless on the bottom side but with meat and/or fat on the top. They cut off the meat on one side of the ribs. This is unacceptable and scamming customers of their money for poor cuts. I usually shop at Presidente and El Bondegon where they offer quality ribs with plenty of meat. If you want costilla de res, you are better of elsewhere but NOT Foodtown. read more

I've always shopped here. But 2 days ago I bought ROTTEN fish. When I brought home the fish, It stunk up the entire house. I had no choice but to throw them in the garbage. I called Foodtown a total of 13 times, no answer in any of the departments. What's the purpose of having a damn phone if you're not going to answer?! I decided to go to the store and spoke to the manager. When I got there, I explained to her what happened and showed her my receipt and also my debit card statement. She stated there's nothing she can do because I don't have the fish. Completely understood. But if the fish stunk up my entire house, there was no way I could keep it in the fridge to stink that up too. I didn't want a refund, she could have at least offered a store credit. Their customer service sucks, their attitude sucks, and their store stinks. Not to mention, they sell rotten seafood and expired goods. I wish I can give them a negative 10 star, but Unfortunately that's not an option. They would never get back another dime of my hard earned money. read more

THIS is THE most amazing grocery store! I could have spent hours in here, they have so much stuff in here that in all my years on this earth I have never seen before! Produce department is crazy with all the selections. Seafood department is WOW! The only other place I have seen so much fish is a huge fishing pier on the pacific in El Salvador. The variety of items is absolutely incredible! I'm so glad I went there, this place isn't just a grocery store, it's an experience! I bought a fresh lotus flower and turmeric roots. I just came out of this store , first time shopping here and I was happy with everything until I got to the cashier . I put my stuff on the belt and the cashier lady was ready to scan my items when one security woman told the cashier lady I can't pay here because this is the 10 item cashier . the cashier lady even apologized because this was the most humiliating experience ever, I had to put back everything to my basket and chose a different cashier. This was nothing but pure racism here , I don't wanna describe this woman how she looked like but I never gonna forget her face I hope this made her day and I won't shop here in the future!!! I found this when I was searching Yelp for an H-Mart or an Assi Plaza type of mega-Asian (Korean) grocery store. Instead, I landed in this store that was the low-rent equivalent. A lot of the produce was old, showing that they bought it for cheap just before expiration. The fresh meat and fish areas were a bit scary- nothing like an H-Mart. It was just a little too ghetto for me. The quality was low. I left with just a few packaged items, and did my produce shopping down the street at the produce stand (just north of there on Military Trail... the one with the big sign advertising 19 cents/lb bananas) which all seemed so much fresher and with even lower prices. Never again. But, I get why people would want to shop there if they don't have an H-Mart nearby. (Unfortunately, the closest ones are in Atlanta) read more

This place is absolutely disgusting! I almost didn't walk inside and went back to the car because it smelled really bad of rotting fish upon entering. It's a dirty, grocery store and I would not buy any meat or fresh produce from there. I was curious and ignored the rotting fish smell. Found some interesting dry goods from other countries. Foodtown is a confluence of int'l ingredients in one store. I stopped by, hoping to stock my pantry with Asian dried goods, sauces and etc. They carried a variety of things I needed but fell short on Japanese and Korean items. Sadly, most of the dried Asian goods originated from China, something I avoid due to inconsistent quality control. While Foodtown offers a lot of items, they do not carry the usual array of brands and choices you'd typically find at Asian marts. Darn it but hey, this is better than nothing. I need to get a samosa and explore the Indian and Jamaican spice aisles the next time I stop by. Hopefully, we get a Ranch 99 or H-Mart in S FL soon.... read more

It's not at all fair to compare this to other grocery stores in the area since it is different in every way possible. So if you can get passed the dated 80s Winn-Dixie decor they never bothered to change out, you'll see at heart it is a transplant (somewhat) of its northern cousin, which is a major chain. The thing that makes this market special is its VAST array of products from all over the world. If you're cooking a recipe and are stumped as to what something foreign is and where to get it, it will likely be here. China, Japan, Korea, Thailand, India, Pakistan, to South America, to the Caribbean, to everyday american items. Trust me it's here. You can even buy live toads to cook. Don't come here expecting a Whole Foods or Publix scene. Don't come here expecting amazing customer service. It's not about any of that. Its the accessbility to so many different things. It complements the melting pot that is South Florida very well. Just walk in, get past the pastel 80s decor and the smell of fish, and you'll discover lots of amazing things. read more

DISGUSTING! The last 2 times we got Brussell Sprouts they were COVERED in worms! They give "Organic" a whole new meaning. Their meat is disgusting as well, we opened our chicken and it was rotten. The place is dirty and filled with flies. The STENCH before you enter is horrible. I would take WalMart meat over Foodtown ANYDAY. Save your health shop at Publix or even Winn Dixie. ADORE this place. Is it spic and span like a Whole Foods? No. But it's not selling itself on image. The seafood selection is insane (jellyfish skin, live frogs, abalone) the Chinese bakery (with take away sandwiches, roast meats and sushi) is awesome, and I teared up seeing the Halal butcher. Not many stores carry the amount of different grocery items as this store. If your looking for certain Indian spices, oriental spices, Jamaican spices and other spices you can't locate anywhere else and you don't want to pay for shipping and buying it online I believe most items found here. Huge selection of all kind of produce can't find in other stores. I love walking up and down each isle to see what interesting items they have there. Great place to shop if you looking for ethnic foods, fresh fruit, vegetables, and large variety. There are lots and lots of spices to choose from as well. As with any business, sometimes things do not go perfectly. I came back to return a product I wasn't satisfied with which they checked and replaced right away. Been coming here for years and basically the only store in Palm Beach where you can find any international goods in one place. A lot of Asian and Caribbean goodies are mostly here. Cheap produce, meats, halal meats and seafood. Buying hot food at their cafeteria area is the bomb. Especially their oxtail stew is usually a sellout. The portions are very big, one meal could basically equal for 2 people. Just need the place a little more cleaning and organizing and more friendly employees though but still great. read more

This store is one of the very few in the area that offers an impressive array of products for so many different cultures that are extremely hard to find in the U.S.A., hence the four stars. Went yesterday after having not been in a while. Found the store cleaner and much less smelly. Face it, seafood smells, even at upscale markets, so yes, there is a fish smell. It wasn't as pungent as it has been in the past though. Foodtown is a different experience and you need to leave some of your judgement outside when you go. What a crazy place to shop.... We were there on 12/30/17. Congested aisles and parking headache. Thank goodness only shop here when visiting FL on occasion. Unlike other stores here in the palm beaches this one is NOT PET FRIENDLY!!! If it's 90 degrees outside and you need groceries from this store then don't come to this store with your pet because you'll be directed to take your pet out risking their health. So fur parents leave your pets at home to be on the safe side. Guess our $300++ purchase spent in less than 20 minutes is the least of their concern. Other options exist for where we can go get Caribbean foods and we will venture there next time we visit FL. I think it's also rather rude for the sarcastic guard who directed the puppy be removed to tell me after my husband left with her to enjoy my shopping. The lady in me kept me from responding to him. I just figured it's the Napolianistic complex in him. Seemed rather proud of himself. My husband pointed out that there was a sign that he saw when he came back into the store. We had been to several stores since being in the area and none had restricted pets. On another note I wonder what their rules are for service animals. I know for most Caribbean people in the islands dogs hold little value but this is not the same here in the USA. Litigation for service animal dependent people may be something in the future for this store. Wouldn't be surprised to know of any development on this path. In terms of the shopping experience. The line to get meat was very, very long and some people just said forget it and left. The tickets are there but the numbers get called and if you don't answer quick enough then the next and next numbers get called and confusion now exist for who is supposed to be served. What a mess.... The aisles are narrow because I guess the store is trying to utilize every inch without considering that people need to navigate to obtain the items needed. I didn't opt for any seafood items. Only impression is that there isn't a strong smell. 2 stars because we got what we needed for our trip home to SC. Our puppy survived being left in the car with the windows cracked for ventilation and thank goodness no one was in car stealing mode or my Lexus would be gone. Won't be back any time soon. read more

This place is so dirty! Do you know how some houses are zero lot line? This is zero lot aisles!!! I come here just because I need my Asian spicy season or Asian food needs. They have a good variety of vegetables. I come here when I want to make Bun Bo Hue because this is the only place I can find the type of beef for it. I used to like their Chinese buns, but lately it's just been so dry and not as good as it used to be. I almost choked eating a bun last time because of how dry it is. This is an international market. It's not an overpriced douche store like publix or whole foods. They offer what you can't get at those other stores. If you want Dutch gruyere cheese with a 6 pack of a Portland IPA for $70, go to whole foods. If you want ethnic foods for a fair price with a few slow cashiers, go to Foodtown. Great place for ethnic finds. I came here after searching for a Chinese market on Yelp. On the hunt for Mochi Ice Cream. Turns out the Chinese Market is inside this giant grocery store. They have an awesome selection of bakery items like cakes and pork buns. The freezer section is full of frozen desserts which is what I came here for. Got take away from here yesterday. Ordered the oxtail with cabbage and rice and the fried chicken with rice and plantains. It was pretty good. Oxtail was tender, cabbage was flavorful. Rice and beans were flavorful. Plantains were mediocre. Fried chicken was pretty ok as well, breading was soft from sitting under the heat lamp. Overall I would probably give it another try, as the menu is extensive and affordable. Both dinners were 15 bucks. read more
