I'm from New York, and I frequented a Foodtown near my house in the past. I recently moved to Florida, and happened to see (for the first time in 10 years) a sign for a Foodtown. I stopped in a few days later, for the sake of nostalgia. I was surpsied at what I found. Pleasantly surprised! This store was not at all like the local store I shopped at in New York. There were multiple rows devoted to particular ethnic delicacies of particular countries (China, Haiti, India, etc.) There was a HUGE meat and fish section at this location. The back of the store went from an extensive seafood section, to a meat section, to an Indian-theme meat section. It spanned nearly the entire length of the store (18 rows or so), containing almost any type of meat or fish you might be looking for. I was not expecting to find what I did. I noticed many Asian, Indian, Haitian, Mexican, and even caucasian(me) people shopping and/or working there. There are also multiple small hot food/serve stations there in different sections of the store. They appear to serve different foods based on the diets of varying countries highlighted within the store. The cleanliness/prices were average. Foodtown isn't for everyone, that's for sure. But if you're looking for something specific you can't find at the big chains, or if you like adventurous cooking, this is the place. Some of these reviews I find hilarious, like the one upset about the lack of respect for sea life (it's food, not an aquarium, would you like them to say a prayer first?) the one upset because her dog isn't allowed inside (but makes sure you know they drive a Lexus) and the one that left a good review, but one star because a cashier was "unprofessional". I find the aisle widths perfectly fine and the parking lot no crazier than any other supermarket, albeit with more potholes. To each their own, I guess, but this isn't Publix. The mild funk in the air will tell you that right away, but the un-messed with chickens, (not loaded with saline, don't look like they've had a boob job and CHEAP) the middle eastern treats of my childhood, huge bags of rice and the giant Asian section (Korean melons!) will always keep me coming back. read more

This place is great!! Not the best if compared to big supermarkets such as Hong Kong Supermarket, MOMs, ABC ... you know all the huge names catered to the Asian population in California, Texas or Georgia. However, this is the best I've seen in West Palm Beach area. The prices are surprisingly reasonable. read more

its a rubbish and cheated shopping place. They are selling rotten mangoes. Today March 13th, I bought 10 mangoes @ $.99 and its looks so good but unfortunately its all are rotten inside while we cut it. They display it so attractive way and cheating with customer intentionally. I will formally make complain to concerned authority and take legal action against them. read more

The Foodtown's in New York aren't like this!!!!! I was hoping to find all the ingredients for my sofrito (yes I make my own) and they had everything, even ajicitos!!!!!!!!! I'd read reviews on Yelp and they don't begin to describe this store!!! I haven't been in a market this big with literally products from around the globe!! I spent probably 2 or 3 hours just looking at everything!!! I had to keep myself away from the bakery section; amazing! Home-made pita chips $1.99! Shrimp is totally reasonable; yes to Indian masala; sauce for butter chicken, platanos, Jamaican teas and jerk; yes please to Middle Eastern caramel waffle cookies; sure, why not to chicken and leek potstickers. The produce is great, meats are too...overwhelming in a VERY good way!!!!!! Super nice employees...this place is IT!!!!!! read more

Not your typical neighborhood market. After relocating here from NJ, just minutes from Philadelphia, I was looking for a place to buy ingredients for some asian dishes I like to make. I was referred to Foodtown. What a fabulous discovery, not only did I find all the Chinese items I needed, but they had produce to satisfy a united nation of culinary pallets. an isle for each and produce to match. Chinese, Japanese, Cuban, Hatian, Indian and Jamacan. Fresh seafood including live frogs, turtles, eels and many live fish and crustacean. They will fillett to order. They have a meat selection that will satisfy any cook and on sight butchers. Their prices are very reasonable too. it was like shopping an open air market in any foreign country under one roof. read more

A family member purchased a non perishable product I cannot use, BY ACCIDENT. I had another family member return it to the store on the SAME DAY w/ RECEIPT (per store policy within 24hr). My family member was told the package could not be returned. I am now out $$ for a product I cannot use. And the store will not return my money. I need an explanation as to why I cannot return products bought at FoodTown FOLLOWING THE RULES SET FORTH BY FOODTOWN itself. I & many of my family members have spent thousands of $$ at this store, I have been a loyal customer since the opening of the store. However, now I am sure in my household, WE WILL NOT BE SPENDING ANOTHER PENNY in FOODTOWN. read more

Yeah, i agree. . it's like a wal-mart at midnight! That and they've got the same item with different makers scattered all throughout the store. . .how hard would it be to put your 50,000 cans of coconut milk in the same place? I really do like this place for variety of asian spices, sauces, etc. not to mention all the Caribbean hot sauces. I come all the way from Tequesta to shop here. For those of you who don't normally go to an asian store, this is not normal. This is a mix of asian/carribean/cuban ethnic foods all rolled up in one and lacking in each of the three possibly. I can only speak to the asian side of things but when you try to be all things to all people, you don't do a very good job. For the asian food items, they were expensive and small with a poor selection. Of course, we are in west palm beach, and if this is all you have to choose from, well, beggars cant be choosy. On the other hand, there is amazon and if you really can't find what you are looking for, you can pay even more of a premium for asian grocery items on Amazon. I tried the bakery and couldn't figure out what type of asian culture it was representative of. It was sort of Chinese but didn't taste like it. Maybe it was a region of China I'm not familiar with but it was odd. The purple potatoes were pretty good. I think you could buy small samples of item to try and if you like it then get the full order. Coming from Southern CA, this is such a disappointment compared to Ranch 99, HMart, or Mitsuwa. I think I know what I will be importing on my next trip back. read more
