Dr Dann was great and medically my colonoscopy was successful. However the billing/insurance management of this office is horrible and I will never have a procedure here again. My insurance covers colonoscopy at 100% and this office billed my insurance as evaluation appointments not follow up/pre-op to a colonoscopy which would be covered. They stated it is office policy to bill that way so the co-pay is mandatory. They are just looking for ways to be paid more, rather than advocating for a patient to have insurance coverage. My procedure was in October 2023 and they sent an adjusted service request to my insurance in Sept 2025 (almost 2 YEARS LATER) in order to change my balance from zero to owing a $45 co pay. It is so frustrating, I just ended up paying the $45 even though it feels like I was completely ripped off and paid for something I didn't owe. At one point about a year after my service, I had a zero balance and EOB's stating my insurance paid and I owed a $0 balance. And then they decide to bill again for adjusted services which wasn't true. It's a dishonest practice. They also force you to pay co-pays ahead of time (even when you don't owe one) or will refuse service. On the morning of my colonoscopy I explained that I don't owe a copay and they said I could reschedule my procedure (after all night of colonoscopy prep - no thanks!!) so I had to pay it and later (much later) was refunded after hounding them and proving with EOB's that my insurance covered it. read more

Before I met Dr. Yakubov, I had consultations with three other doctors regarding endoscopy, and each one lasted only about two minutes, providing little to no help. They were only focused on scheduling unnecessary procedures to make money from my insurance. However, with Dr. Yakubov, I had a thorough 25-minute consultation. He provided a wealth of information, offered recommendations, and outlined a plan to help me get better. Dr. Yakubov genuinely wants to help! I am very grateful to have found a doctor like him. So far so good for me, I don't know why there are bad reviews. I really like Dr Kristen Lee as I was looking for a female doctor. She has empathy and nothing hurt. I had my colonoscopy on Monday and am waiting for the tele visit next week for the biopsy results. The place is very easy to get to by subway, I did overhear that parking on the block is bad when you have to pick up a patient. My husband picked me up and we just got on the subway. I went for a colonoscopy with Dr Perl, who seemed nice and decent from consult and follow up video visits. I've had 7 prior scopes elsewhere and this was the worst experience and perhaps the only bad one. While under anesthesia, I aspirated stomach acid into my lungs. It only became known to me when the nurse was tapping me in recovery telling me to wake up, get dressed, and wait in waiting room for MD. My throat and chest were on fire, burning, painful. My vocal chords were burned out from acid and my voice entirely absent. I couldn't swallow well. WTH. I tried telling the nurse and she still told me to get dressed and go out after taking vitals. Dr Perl came out and told me scope was normal, but somewhat difficult to perform and took much longer than normal. I whispered out that my breathing felt constricted and that I must've aspirated. He said that can happen. It can, especially if precautions are taken to ensure it doesn't. What I find abhorent is he then said if it feels bad go to the ER and clearly was in a rush to finish up work he had and promptly left (and since it was 4pm perhaps was most concerned with focusing on clearing the place out). I tried to get up to leave, but felt lightheaded, somewhat short of breath, with bad pain in my chest so sat back down. The receptionist asked if I was ok. I told her how I felt and needed to sit a minute. She said she'd tell the MD. I said he knows and told me to go to the ER. She went back and told him anyway (she actually genuinely cares- wish I knew her name) and came back with same info. I managed to get home. I had chills, chest was tight, I couldn't rest. My asthmatic cat has a steroid inhaler so I used it twice to bring the airway inflammation down and also took a dose of her oral steroids (I'm an RN) and by 2am felt somewhat better. Next day, voice slightly better, but low grade temp. Called in sick, texted with some work colleagues. They were horrified they just sent me out like that, but we all naively thought they would at least do a follow up call to see if I was ok or ended up in hospital. Nope. They had a staff available to call me 2 days in a row the 2 days prior to my appt to remind me of my appt and $200 cancelation fee but no one to follow up with someone who had a harm event during a routine procedure and left in precarious shape, worse than when I walked in. I messaged the doc in portal. Asked for chest xray prescription. Told him how I was. No response. Later in the day, I started feeling unwell again and was now coughing up greenish, phlegm with blood so went to urgent care. The MD there was perplexed there was no next-day follow up and didn't understand why I was going to urgent care instead of having the MD under whose care this happened deal with it. My PCP office (potential covering doc) said the same thing when I tried to get a same day appt (he was on vacay). The expectation of an ethical, conscientious physician is that of course the Dr under whose care this occured would at least follow up. It's basic medicine that a GI MD should know how to treat an aspiration. I'm now on antibiotics, steroids, inhalers for probable pneumonitis/aspiration pneumonia. I'm frankly embarassed for Dr Perl and cannot recommend. Someone wrote in another review that this felt like a conveyor belt style practice. Can't disagree. He asked me after my initial consult to write a review if I felt compelled ( It did strike me as weird at the time). I never ever go off a 1st impression. I reserve my assessment for exactly these types of scenarios and the genuine care and concern that is shown and responsibility displayed. It was all pretty absent when it mattered. Also I wouldn't use the practice at all (any MD here, even if you like them) for a procedure requiring anesthesiologist-monitored sedation as I'm not confident they're equipped to handle anything other than a normal outcome (think Joan Rivers and her death from an outpatient, private endoscopy suite failure). If you need to get scoped, use a hospital based practice that has the space, skill, supplies, and man-power to function for you if there's any aberration from normal so that you don't have to call 911 on yourself. Honestly, I've had some unsatisfactory MD experiences before, but the fact that they are avoiding me completely, not responding to messages (including the practice owner) makes me think they are just greedy and have no ethics or conscience or know this was bad and unethical and are clamming up out of fear of litigation or are covering up something that happened while I was anesthetized (I requested the procedure and anesthesia records twice and they sent me an old, unrelated visit record instead). Honestly, I don't care about things like wait times, rude office staff (they weren't rude). The MD doesn't even need to be particularly warm and fuzzy. What I need is a competent, responsive, conscientious, responsible, ethical MD, and sadly didn't find it here. Disappointing. read more

Not a very understanding doctor at all. Wasted an hour of my time getting to this place - got there 9 minutes after the appointment time. Front desk acted kind of strange...said they needed to go back and talk to the doctor (as if he already cancelled?) asked me to wait, 5 min later they come back and tell me that he refused to see me because I was late. So they make me wait half the time I was late to tell me to go away. Don't understand why he's so highly reviewed. Grace period in NY is not under 10 minutes, especially since doctors will make you wait 30+ sometimes. I never received a call or anything from them - which can happen if a place is so strict. A subway delay, which happened in my case, can easily make someone 5-10 min late. Unless it's safe to assume that this doctor didn't even block out 30 minutes for my appointment - similar to what some other reviewers have stated. Maybe I dodged a bullet. I've lived in NYC my whole life and never been treated so dismissively by a doctor. 9 minutes late! So see me for 21 minutes then? Absolutely appalling way to treat a patient. After rejecting me, they had the audacity to suggest rescheduling, lol. Thanks for taking health seriously. Something is off with this doctor. Update: Just got a call from the office. They said there was a "miscommunication" with the appointment time. They admitted that 9 minutes was a reasonable grace period. They wanted to reschedule to tomorrow "make it better". The time to make it better was when I was in the office. Instead you turned me away. You don't get anymore of my time, sorry! Please save yourself and go to a real Dr. This place has a 'conveyor belt' like mentality when it comes to treating patients. The "Drs." are salesmen. They will push you to get unnecessary procedures and once they trap you, you are treated like a lab specimen with no patients rights. I saw Dr. Perl, who teamed me up with an incompetent anesthesiologist. The anesthesiologist couldn't figure out how to give me an IV. He was unethical, and incompetent and didn't want to respect my right to choose who I'm treated by. He claimed that he was the one and only anesthesiologist on staff. Which was a LIE. I finally got another anesthesiologist but I had to speak to several people about it. After the procedure, Dr. Perl changed his diagnosis several times. What he told me after the procedure didn't match his notes, and it didn't match what he told me after the follow up appointment. ultimately, they just referred me as this place has no real doctors. After the procedure they literally kicked me out without giving me the approrpriate amount of time to recuperate. I had no ride, didn't sign my waiver, and had a hard time getting home. It was overall scary and unnecessary. Go to a real hospital with real Drs. instead. read more

Although the care that I received from Dr. Lee was fantastic, the follow up by this practice is awful. I was scheduled for a tele-visit for a Colonoscopy follow up. The website will not allow you to log o without making a co-pay. As it turns out I have met my out of pocket expenses for the year and have no copay, something that was already in my records from my first visit. I tried to call and was put into a voice mail system in billing (now I am 7 minutes later for my appointment). I now stated to get angry and upset. After further run around I get a supervisor who castigates me for yelling at her staff for what they are doing or not doing. (I asked for names of people in charge -won't give them to me, I asked that the doctor just call me won't do that ) what this person does do is send me a link to my phone that will work. Nope gets hung up again asking for a copay. I have no wish to send them money that I will need to spend time getting refunded (the last refund I got from a doctors Office came in the form of a bank card and not refunded to my original payment method). Now I have not spoken to the doctor and do not have the results of a biopsy. They informed me that they will reschedule for tomorrow at a time that I will be in client meetings. I still don't have a name of anyone in charge. All of this over a copay to which they are not entitled and would have been paid by my insurance. Sadly all this practice seems to care about is their up front money. I am hoping that someone there looks at social media and might have an answer to this appalling practice. Patient care should not be last in the practice's list of priorities. Very disappointing and disheartening. read more

With high volume, you can be assured that the doctor has a wealth of experience to draw upon; however, it is possible that you might not get the attention you'd like or may feel like just a number. With lower volume, you might get personalized attention, but less of an experienced professional in the area you need. With the above reasoning, you might think that because of the high volume of patients that this place, specifically Dr. Yakubov, treats that you would receive subpar treatment. You would be wrong in this case. Dr. Yakubov and his staff deliver highly personalized care rivaled only by concierge doctors while maintaining the level of professionalism and expertise of a mature, well-grounded organization. For this particular specialty, no one would fault the doctor if a patient's visit was characterized as unpleasant. However, while not a walk in the park, Dr. Yakubov manages to reduce any discomfort far enough into tolerable ranges for anyone -- unless for some reason you hate sincerity, intelligence, and professionalism. In fact, if given the choice of a visit here or to go watch a live baseball game, I don't think I'd be the only person to respond with "bring me back some peanuts". read more

So I booked an appointment on their website - the default is set to "returning patient". So I get a call the day before my appointment and they tell me - you have to change your appointment we can't see you at that time. I was like wait what - she got really mad and said you have to cancel or change your appointment. I was like so do you not actually have that time for me anymore. She was like you are not a returning patient so no. Got super hostile - demanding I change it. I look on zocdoc there's a whole thing about how doctors are not supposed to change appointments they accept. It just feels super bait and switchy - to get you to make an appointment with all of these available times but they don't actually exist? The default should be for new so it doesn't show times that are not real - then on top of it the receptionist was horrible about it - she basically yelled at me and said you tried to trick the system etc. I basically just had to hang up on this super aggressive hostile person. Dr Micheal Dann has been my Gastroenterologist for several months. I called his office complaining about pain I had for several weeks. They gave me an appointment next day. Dr Dann listened to me and took me seriously. Spend time asking questions and scheduled test. Gave me medication which helped with in a day. Just came from my follow up appointment and besides feeling physically great I have peace of mind that I have a doctor with great knowledge who took the time to really listen. I then called and told the receptionist to cancel one once I was sure the other was confirmed. 2 hours before the appointment I kept with Dr Mann I was told it needed to be cancelled and no more appointments for 1 week. Dr. Lee is amazing. Just had my 8 week follow up after initial visit and tests. After 40+ years of suffering with intestinal issues that no one could get to the bottom of and also being told it was "in my head." Dr. Lee listened, ordered a whole panel of tests and found the problem. Turns out the problem was very much in my gut, not in my head, had a name and was treatable! (And by treatable while this problem did require antiobitics initially, for the last six weeks the only treament has been diet and fiber. So happy that the goal was to restore my insides to working condition, not just throw a bunch of medication on top of the problem.) I can't say enough how thoughtful, knowledgeable and prompt Dr. Lee was during this process. She's made me completely comfortable talking about an embarrassing problem. Literally the best gastroenterologist in NY. I've been to so many doctors and they just told me to "take some more probiotics." My doctor here developed a plan to help diagnose what was wrong, including various tests. After literally only one visit and getting the results back he was able to diagnose what was wrong and put me on the right plan to fix my symptoms.
