I had an awful experience calling to ask about jewellery repair. I had two rings in need of repair,…read moreone purchased at People's jewellers and one old family heirloom. I think the name of the woman I spoke with was Monica. As soon as she heard I had a ring from People's, all she would tell me is that I had to go there to have it repaired. I told her that I would rather pay more to have it fixed locally because People's sends it out East. I kept trying to mention my family ring (because I absolutely would NOT send that anywhere in case it got lost) but she refused to listen and just kept saying, "go back to People's!". I literally almost cried because I'm so attached to that ring and it breaking was already so stressful. Anyways, I went to Independent Goldsmith, paid twice what I would have at People's in order to keep it local, and received excellent service. I would not recommend LL Private Jewellers at all, absolute crap service.

When looking for a jeweller to resize my (brand new!) custom engagement ring (bought online, didn't…read moreknow my size) I was initially scared and overwhelmed - until I talked to Monika! I had quotes from 2 jewellers that were much higher and that included up to 10 days in wait times. When I called LL (open til 9pm! so convenient for us 9-5ers!) they said to come right in, and as soon as I found the building (it's that old one on Granville you always pass but never noticed) they buzzed me in to their little studio. They were real, honest and friendly during the consult, quoted me MUCH less than the others and said they'd have it 2 days later! I went to pick up my ring today and it fits perfectly, I realized the reviews were all true, they made me feel comfortable and extremely satisfied with the end result. I'll definitely recommend their no-nonsense, amazing work to my friends and go back to them if I need anything else!

This shop has the best customer service that I think I've ever experienced. I don't usually worry…read morethat much about how I'm treated by staff who are in CS roles, because I know how exhausting, stressful and dull the work can be. However, the people who work at this shop are so outstandingly kind and helpful that it's worth mentioning. I came here to get a very fine gold chain repaired and to get my watch battery replaced. I ended up needing to get the movement in my watch cleaned after there were still issues with the second hand getting stuck after the battery replacement. The woman working the counter was very clear in advising me and gave me a sense of options and cost before ever compelling me to commit to the work I would get done. We discussed the replacement of the crystal on the watch face and she recommended that I see how the other repairs went first, to ensure that the watch could be made to function properly first. It's simple stuff, but I really felt that I was being given respectful advice. I also watched the same woman interact with an elderly lady who came in looking for a particular address, which turned out to be in the building, but required her to go on a bit of an adventure to find it. The woman working here went out of her way to help this elderly woman find her way - it was very sweet.

As soon as we entered, we went directly to the ear-piercing section to choose earrings. The employee assigned to do the piercing stood there without even acknowledging us or offering any assistance. When I informed her that I had an appointment, she told me I was exactly "6 minutes and 24 seconds late" and therefore she would not perform the piercing. I was shocked by how rigid and dismissive this was. There was absolutely no attempt to accommodate us, show understanding, or provide any customer service whatsoever. Refusing service over a delay of just a few minutes, especially after a customer has made the effort to come in for a booked appointment, is unreasonable and incredibly frustrating. The lack of professionalism, empathy, and basic courtesy left a very negative impression. I will be taking my business elsewhere.

I had a fabulous time at the Mejuri Piercing Studio! Thank you, Sarah, for your spectacular service…read more- from your patience as my friends and I chose our earrings, to your efficiency in getting us pierced, to your care in explaining the aftercare process. The three of us came in thinking we'd get one piercing each, and walked out with double the amount in the span of an hour! BOOKING: The process was quick and easy on the Mejuri website. No deposit is required, so you can rest easy if you do change your mind. Moreover, if you sign up for Mejuri's SMS+Email program, you can get 10% off towards your jewelry. Once you get to the studio, you can skip the line by letting them know about your appointment. STORE/STUDIO: Sleek, spacious, and sophisticated! There is a wide offering of jewelry to choose from, whether you're looking for dainty, more delicate pieces, or something with a bit more pop. The Piercing Studio is in a back room for privacy. SELECTION: The jewelry is more limited for in-store piercings, but they are all 14k white or yellow gold with threadless flat back titanium studs. You can choose from 8 types of piercings in the lobe and cartilage areas. (Note that for lobe piercings, healing will take at least 3 months, whereas for cartilage piercings, it is at least 6 months.) Prices currently range from $85 to $455. No matter how many piercings you get, the service fee will be $25 for your session (including a free check-up and post-downsizing) so you may find yourself easily tempted to get more like we did. PIERCING: If you're going with friends, I would recommend back-to-back sessions, so you can maximize your visit as the piercing itself is quite quick. We had ample time to select our jewelry and didn't feel rushed during our hour together. Sarah marked our ears to show where the jewelry would go and let us hold them up against our ears again to get an idea of placement. My only issue was that my helix piercing was slightly covered by my ear fold afterwards, though I plan to get a hoop later so I am not too fussed about it. The entire process was very efficient and sanitary, with gloves and sterilized, single-use equipment. Sarah also provided aftercare instructions, including purchasing Bactine and running warm water over our piercings during showers. Payment was done by tablet in the Piercing Studio, so there was no need to line up in the store which I appreciated.  Overall, I really enjoyed the whole experience and can fully understand why Mejuri is as popular as it is. I am already itching to go back for more piercings, but for now, these ears need some proper rest and recovery.
