We went to Intrepid and saw the kayaking. We went over to ask more details. It was booked for the day but the man explained to us very patiently. They open summer to Halloween. Thur to Sunday from 1 pm to 6 pm. We have children and none of us has experience in kayak or paddling board. He said we could do the double kayak ( children require adult accompany unless they are 11/12 years old). No experience needed. We will be instructed briefly at the beginning and there will be staff in kayaks in the water too. We stay at the inlet next to intrepid. $12 per person for 45 min. Single or double kayak. In our case will be double because of the kids. There are other tours too and I took a picture. Even knowing they are fully booked for the day, I appreciate the staff explaining to us thoroughly. Will definitely that in mind.

Us having a wonderful day at Manhattan Kayak + SUP! :)

We love the Manhattan Kayak Club! What an enchanting place to spend a day. We wandered out one sunny May afternoon and were delighted to find this peaceful oasis in the heart of the city. The grounds are beautiful, with grass and lush landscaping and trees. Paddling will restore your soul as patient, friendly, and fun guides show you how to have a safe and exciting time on the water. And the owners, Susie and Eric, are just delightful. Kids and pup friendly! What more could you want?!?

I took a trip down the Hudson River with group. Our guide was helpful supportive and knowledgeable. It is a nice trip fir beginners or more advanced. It is a good introduction to kayaking on the Hudson.

Hello, one and all. Here is my take. This place has made great efforts taking that first step forward they have relaunch with everyone's health in mind. Spraying down the equipment that gets reused by customers and personnel was always part of the process now they have gone further by providing social distancing markers for their regulars to follow. The hand sanitizers are place at entrances and exits. It's required for everyone to wear a facemask when walking in and out of the facility and here is the best part once you are out on the water remove the mask the fresh breeze coming in from the waterfront is amazing. They regulate how many ppl are allowed in the Inclosed(designated) area. No overcrowding so with all that open space mask off its a sigh of relief to be able to get in a low impact work out on the water. Tips from me to you.. Wear sunscreen, bring a lock, most importantly reserve online because it's practically the safest gym-based workout in town. Actually, it's so much fun it can't be considered a workout. Reservation is needed to get out on the water. Lastly, the coaches crush it when it comes down to tips and guides to not fall in and so far I have done 10 laps in 3 visits and have yet to fall in so I will be back. SUP(stand up paddling) is now a part of my weekly workouts. I am recovering from a motor injury so this makes me workout those balancing issues and I love the challenge. On my way over today after work, I am hyped one of the many things I look forward too during these trying times. Hope this aids and encourages anyone looking to try something new and exciting. they have their prices online. Less than the price of lunch to start a new sport/hobby which it is super ideal. NYC the place to be. Did I mention it is by the intrepid the view is super cool I am in awe everytime.

The view is absolutely gorgeous as we were sailing North. Our kayaks were very stable and you can either choose to go on a single or double. I took my phone with me and put it in my life vest (thank goodness it had a thick padding or else my phone would have never survived). The waves are decently strong for a 4pm sail in late summer. You get a clear view of the Freedom Tower and if you just look hard enough, you get a glimpse of the statue of liberty and the Verrazano Bridge. I highly recommend for couples, friends, and even just a gift for yourself. Many people came solo and everyone was really nice so you can really just mingo. Got this as a groupon and it came with a free drink at the Frying Pan. It was great! Just as a side note: the hudson river is pretty nasty but it was worth it! Also, good luck for all the paddle board sailers. I felt the waves hitting against my kayak and I can imagine what the paddle boarder feel. Oh and NEVER CALL THEM, it took them 3 days to return my call.

What I love most about MKC is that every single member of their team wants to share their love of paddling with you. The team helps you develop your skill set so that you can have an awesome experience out on the water. MKC offers a variety of exciting adventures that can accommodate the first time paddler and impress a K1 Olympic competitor. The dock is conveniently located next to the Intrepid which is one of my most favorite iconic NYC destinations. Your safety is prioritized throughout the entire experience. Everything is sanitized and the protocols in place are adhered to by the patrons and the staff. This place is the best of the best and it is such a joy to be out on the water. I highly recommend you book your next trip ASAP!

We went SUPing with our Pup here today and it was AWESOME! They had life jackets that fit our little chihuahua, we were given a quick Intro to SUPing from the very friendly woman who was helping us get SUPs, and then we were out on the water! A perfect Summer afternoon activity, and we will definitely be back! It's also so great to have a summer water activity that you can bring dogs to, as most of the NYC beaches don't allow dogs in the summer. As a quick tip, we weren't sure what to bring with us, but they have free lockers for your stuff which is super helpful.

This is an amazing place. Lovely area with grass and views and really well priced rentals/lessons. I paddled around for the most peaceful 45 minutes I have had all year!

I have been here twice so far, once for kayaking last week and SUP (stand up paddle boarding) this week- and both classes deserve 5 star reviews. Kayak: It was an absolutely beautiful day to paddle up and down the Hudson and so we did...Brandon and Juan were the instructors and they were awesome. I have been kayaking many times from the ocean to rivers to lakes, and the Hudson is definitely a challenge, but doable at any experience level. The group ranged from newbies to experienced and we all had a blast! Some tips: You will definitely get wet from the waste down so wear a bathing suit. Bring a change of clothes and a small towel along with a big ziploc bag to put your wet clothes in after you are done. I kept my IPhone in a ziploc and was able to take some pictures through the bag and store it in my life vest while paddling. I loved the kayaking so much I came back the next week to try SUP... SUP: Our instructor was Eric (the owner) who is intense, but extremely knowledgeable and super helpful. He went in depth before class to explain the do's and don'ts and I would definitely pay attention if I were you! We had a lot of time to wander in the water and try out the different positions, and plenty of opportunities to fall in the water :) Eric came around and I would also recommend watching him as he effortlessly paddles by (I do not know how he does it, but it is very impressive!). It is a tricky sport and you will definitely fall in the water (don't worry, you will survive the Hudson). Same tip as before- wear a suit and bring ziplocs. They have a hose so you can rinse off after your session... Most importantly have fun, laugh and enjoy the view!

The location next to the intrepid is a great spot. The water is very quiet next to that big colossal. Then they take you out of the safety zone to the Hudson. After years of hard work, the water is quite clean. Occasional fumes follow the boats like the circle line that come into dock at the pier south of there. The kayakers seem to enjoy the wave wakes that these boats make. Scared of water? They are super gentle about it. Luckily the waters next to the intrepid are gentle too. Instructors Doug, Jay and Brandon that I have experience with were great. I'm glad they get paid to do something they love. I always tip at least 20% Because you always get good lessons when your teacher loves the subject and truly wants you to love it too. I'm ready for more. I'm going to join them for more tours. They go 15 miles out to the Statue of Liberty if you are ready!

One of the many hidden treasures of New York City. It is located on the west side immediately next to the intrepid. My boyfriend and I came to Manhattan Kayak Company on Friday afternoon without reservations and were able to rent Stand Up Paddle boards with no problem at all! They have free lockers to store all of your valuables. The facility had a very retro vibe on the interior. Supposedly the tent within the storage unit is actually the owner's personal office space! The workers were all very friendly and made us comfortable (I was a little nervous as I have never been on a SUP before). For just $15/pp we got to rent the SUP for about 30-45 minutes. It was very quiet the entire time we were there, just 3 other people were renting at the same time as us (no complaints there!!) We look forward to returning later this summer for some lessons, maybe even a yoga class.. If you're ambitious enough they have a 4 hour tour in New Jersey where they incorporate SUP within a Japanese village (pretty sure it includes sushi of some kind, and of course a killer workout!) This one defiantly goes on the top of next summers bucket list!!

This is my 2nd summer doing a kayaking tour with this company. Booked both times for my son and myself and we've thoroughly enjoyed both outings! The staff & tour instructors here are very pleasant & professional. I've recommended this kayak company to many of my friends & family... 2 thumbs up to this business!

Did you know that Lake Hopatcong is NJ's largest freshwater lake?…read more And did you also know that there's a great little place on the lake that lets you rent all sorts of strange inventions like a 'pedalboard' and a 'hydrobike' (along with the classics like kayaks and paddleboards) - so you can cruise along the lake, get a bit of exercise, fill those lungs with fresh air and more importantly... work up an appetite (so you can hit The Windlass right after)? I tell you it's true. All true. There were six of us (celebrating a birthday) - 5 on hydrobikes, 1 on a pedalboard. The lake is drop dead gorgeous and we went when it was still early and a bit overcast so it wasn't too crowded with boats and jet-skis and the like. (Waves/wakes from other boats can really dampen your own fun... so that stuff matters a bit.) But I gotta be honest: it was a lot of work. Unlike a kayak where you might get a nice 'bite' with your oar and can coast a bit... the bike is akin to being pneumatic (you stop pedaling and you almost immediately come to a halt as well). And those seats? They are not comfortable at all. Sore dupas all around (the following day as well, actually). But we all had a great time. The crew (Patty and Joe, I believe) were really cool, total professionals, and we always felt like we were safe as well having a great time exploring some of the lake and adjoining islands and whatnot. (We would definitely return in the future but would lean towards a kayak and not do the bikes again.) Wear sunblock, bring water, not sure if it was just me but my right foot was pretty soaked by the end whereas my left was dry (so you'd be better off wearing an old ratty pair of sneakers, regardless). Post-pedal was The Windlass (excellent) as well as some mini-golf (also excellent). Lots to do in this lovely part of Jersey. (But it'll cost ya!)

I made a reservation online. Patty was so friendly and made it a great time! She let me use some sun block and fill up my reusable cup at their water fountain. She told me that I would probably like the standup paddle board better because it had better maneuverability. I took her advice. It was a lot of excise and fun as we rode around and she told me about the history and pointed out different areas around the lake. We even picked up some trash from inside the lake and it made me happy to know that there are good people out there who are also passionate about the environment. It was hot and I "accidentally" fell in and got to enjoy the water a little bit. Patty also gave me restaurant and hiking recommendations around the area and even took a picture of me. You may be able to call and make a same day appointment, but online will only allow the following day. I don't think it's with bringing or risking losing your camera or phone out on the lake, there isn't anything really photo worthy.

And I stumbled upon Urban Paddle and booked it for a 9am adventure. We lucked out that every variable and condition was ideal: weather, tide, calm water, almost no other boat-related traffic. We're a party of 7. The 'Urban Crew' numbered at 5. We were spoiled from start to finish with a group of really cool and helpful workers that were informative, fun, professional and made sure we were always safe and engaged the entire hour. (Make sure to watch their 6-minute YouTube video ahead of time so you know all about the proper paddling/rowing techniques when it comes time to hit the water.) The 'Urban Crew' were also invaluable because the owner was constantly taking pictures and videos and at the end airdropped them to us which was a nice 'cherry on top' since you can't really snap pictures for big chunks of the time when you're on the water. Is it expensive for an hour? No doubt. Did everyone absolutely love kayaking and getting to see everything from the Colgate clock to the back of the Statue of Liberty's head to the NYC skyline, not to mention all of the stunning yachts all docked and looking completely out of my price-range? Of course. Was it the funniest thing to see my mother-in-law somehow leaning back in her kayak like she was on a hammock while the father-in-law did all the hard work? Yup. (Did a cranky security guard try her best to be a stick in the mud regarding confusion over some parking-related issues when we were about to leave? Oh yeah.) I'd suggest clothing/footwear that you don't mind getting wet as well as sunglasses and sunblock (that sun is no joke bouncing off the water). Highly recommended. (The Mrs. is already plotting when to go back and I think she's even pricing kayaks to buy with that stimulus check that's burning a hole in her wallet.)
