I had a great experience with Dr Antonio Del Valle and his team. They were all very kind and professional. I had a total of 3 appointments. During the first one, I was taken an x-ray (after having my confirmation that I was fine in paying the cost) and explained the surgery process and preparation to it (fasting for 8 hours, etc..). The doctor told me the difference between the local anesthesia and the sedation, so that I had enough information to decide to go with the second option. After the visit, his admin assistant took me in her room and walked thru the full cost, including the deduction covered by my insurance (she had spoken to my insurance while I was with the doctor). I paid the x-ray and signed the agreement. At the surgery appointment, I paid upfront the surgery costs, before starting any procedure. I was pretty nervous but in fact the sedation worked wonderfully (I dreamed about being on the amusement park with the doctor and the nurses :D ). I fell asleep in seconds and when I got up, besides trembling for being cold (which is kinda usual in surgeries), I had the feeling that the surgery duration had been of seconds. And more especially I didn't end up by saying any stupid thing like you see in those many videos online, taken right after the surgeries (I was so afraid!). My husband came to pick me up (a requirement from the office to have someone coming to pick you up if you choose the sedation option) and they gave him all the due docs, medicines and explanations on how to take care of my recovering mouth. I followed everything on their documents. I experienced some pain for a pair of days (and a bit longer on one of the 4), but nothing really major requiring painkillers or so. At the final appointment 10 days later, Dr Del Valle checked my mouth, very quickly to confirm that everything was looking very good. And in fact I was feeling really good! I am really pleased with the experience and would definitely recommend to choose Dr Del Valle and his team if you need any wisdom teeth surgery. read more

This is not a provider I would see again. SUSPECT PAYMENT ISSUES An initial issue was that the billing/payments weren't clear (and they still owe me money for insisting I pay via more than the "allowed amount" from insurance via Quick Pay at the time of service). NON-EXISTENT POST-PROCEDURE CARE More importantly was that there were issues after the procedure and they basically gaslighted me about them and told me to go somewhere else. I had a serious issue after the procedure causing intense pain. They said "oh we've never seen a reaction like this so it must not be related." Um yeah, so for some reason the morning after an invasive procedure in my mouth I'm having intense pain and it's UNRELATED? Seriously WTF. After three calls they reluctantly prescribed antibiotics (which I insisted upon after ChatGPT diagnosed it as a likely deep tissue infection), which ultimately solved the problem. But when they agreed to send the rx in they literally told me that I should go see a doctor instead of calling back. QUESTIONABLE PROCEDURE I ended up having to go to an emergency dentist. When they looked at the cut made in my mouth they remarked that it seemed unnecessarily deep, basically to the bone. 5 weeks later and it's still not fully healed. So yeah. This place is a SCAM!!! AVOID this place at any cost! My dentist recommended this spot for getting my wisdom teeth removed, but it was a total letdown. Here's what happened: First off, they asked me to pay everything upfront and said they'd refund me later through insurance. But they conveniently didn't mention this when I made the appointment. I only found out when I got there. Then, they claimed my dentist hadn't sent my wisdom teeth x-ray, so they needed to do a Panoramic Image scan that cost $200. I had to pay $80 out of pocket. Next, they told me my insurance wouldn't cover most of the wisdom teeth extraction procedure and quoted me a ridiculous $4000+ for getting my wisdom teeth out. But when I called my insurance after the appointment, turns out they do cover it all. Additionally, they said the consultation and Panoramic Image would be $400 together, and I paid $100 in the office. But after the appointment, they charged my insurance $725! Del Valle is a butcher. I had a mucosal on my lower lip about 5 years ago and went to him to have it removed. Several other dentists told me that he should have drained it first before doing surgery to see if it would return. He only wanted to do the surgery and scoffed when I suggested draining it. During the surgery his nurse slipped twice and dropped my lip while he was cutting. As a result I still have no sensation in half of my lower lip. When I went to him at the time hoping to find a way to fix it I was met with him trying to deflect blame, saying that it wasn't his fault, when all I wanted was solution. I contacted several lawyers and maxillofacial surgeons and they all said that he was clearly at fault. I would have sued him for malpractice (and won) but all the attorneys agreed that the settlement for an injury like this would probably not be enough to cover the legal expenses. I had an impacted and infected (yikes) wisdom tooth removed last summer by Dr. Shahgoli. I had to come back for more than the usual number of follow ups due to my recurrent infection. Every visit Dr. Shahgoli was patient, kind while being straight forward and informational. At one point, I was not comfortable with taking more antibiotics as I was on multiple courses for a previous unrelated illness. He worked around my issues and laid out other options, which I was grateful for. I also met Dr. Del Valle who performed a IND (incision and drainage) at the site. He was also very competent, straightforward and there was no lapse in care. They do have a different billing system where you pay off the whole amount and then get reimbursed by your insurance afterward. The ladies at the front desk were super helpful in explaining the situation. I got my reimbursement check within 1-2 weeks. read more

They said my co-pay was $302.00 at first then they came back and said it was going to be $3000 for something that I didn't want nor needed and when I said to extract teeth I never heard of such an amount. so I paid the $ 302 to find out that it was actually 45.00 . I called them and explained what happen , that I over paid and now they don't want to give me back what I over paid. and there is a receptionist or who ever answer there phone is nasty as hell. They can be in park avenue but there service is still crap . I wouldn't recommend this place to any of my friends or co- workers. Went in last week to have two wisdom teeth removed, one of which was impacted. Was nervous about the procedure since I was only doing local anesthesia. Dr. del Valle was phenomenal. He extracted both teeth in 15 minutes and afterwards, I had no swelling whatsoever. (Totally shocking because when I had had my other impacted wisdom tooth taken out by another oral surgeon, I was swollen for a week). Dr. del Valle's bedside manner is also fantastic and he's great at making sure you feel calm during the process and that you know exactly what to expect. Also, every single person on the staff is so friendly. Even though I showed up for my consultation 30 minutes late because of traffic issues, they were so nice and accommodating. Makes the entire process A LOT easier. The office is also super clean and modern looking. Would definitely recommend Dr. del Valle to anyone who has oral surgery needs. read more

One of the reviews on here calls Dr. Shahgoli "pure magic" and they are absolutely, 100% correct. A couple of weeks ago, I started having issues with an erupted wisdom tooth. The tooth was catching on the side of my mouth and irritating the skin to the point of infection, which was causing me a great deal of pain and discomfort. I wound up at two different dental offices in the city for consultations: one told me it was up to me whether or not I wanted to get the tooth out (not what I wanted to hear, especially when I was paying out of pocket), and the other took one look at my x-rays and said she wouldn't go anywhere near the tooth as it was dangerously close to a nerve (also something I did not want to hear from a "professional"). Thankfully, my time spent at less-than-desirable dental offices ended there, as I was referred to Manhattan Maxillofacial and went in for an appointment the following day. The office is beautiful, the staff is kind and wonderful, and the entire process from start to finish was absolutely seamless. Dr. Shahgoli took one look at the tooth and one look at my x-ray and immediately knew what had to be done. I felt so relieved hearing someone speak so confidently about the extraction having hit nothing but dead ends with the dentists I was speaking with. We decided I would receive laughing gas and local anesthesia, as general anesthesia would be a bit excessive for just one tooth. This afternoon I went in to have the tooth removed, and the entire process (paperwork, payment, receiving nitrous, receiving anesthesia, waiting for it to kick in, extraction, post-op general care instructions) took 30 minutes. This guy had that tooth out in RECORD TIME. I looked at my watch shortly before Dr. Shahgoli came in the room and the time was 3:54. He was removing his gloves at 3:59. Seriously unbelievable. Overall, the bedside manner of the entire staff is absolutely impeccable and made the procedure so pleasant. I wasn't nervous for one second, despite the fear and uncertainty that I had developed after seeing some less qualified dentists. I will be recommending Dr. Shahgoli to everyone I know! read more

I had my left side's wisdom tooth removed here. There were a host of issues at this place and my Invisalign orthodontist recommended it so I trusted her (she's great, this referral was not). So when I got there, I told them I had one side removed but that oral surgeon got tired midway and didn't want to remove the other side (he was incredibly terrible too but for different reasons). Anyways, perhaps I was too honest and said the previous oral surgeon had concerns (the previous guy was just lazy, truth be told, and his colleague even agreed which is why I didn't return to that practice anyways). This place pushed the point to their benefit asking for $500 for a CT scan they KNEW wouldn't be covered. When they saw my discomfort and hesitation, they manuvered it say that they'll reduce it for me (acting like they were doing me a favor). I was placed in a positive of pressure, and them knowing very well that a minor infection was causing pain to my dental area. They assured me they'd help with dental appeals forms but we should really do the scan. I kept telling them that last time we didn't need it and it should be fine but they insisted. And I get the possible side effects but this was just an opportunity by the office manager Grace to pressure further. I had trouble finding a date for the procedure for Dr. Del Valle since he was on vacation quite often for an entire month. Anyways a date was selected and I requested the procedure to be done in the Brooklyn office instead. A week before the procedure the office called to say they were going to switch the surgeon (to Dr. Shahgoli) but I can meet the new surgeon since Dr. Del Valle had an emergency or something...I hesitated but said ok...and then the day before they called and said they were going to switch back. When I was in the waiting room, I noticed the Brooklyn staff use the same "pay for the CT scan" trick but went much quicker to decrease the price to $250 as well. It was clear that this was a common tactic at the practice. I shook my head in dismay. It was procedure time and guess what? Del Valle was there but after the local anesthesia was administered, he took a phone call for 20 minutes! Can you believe it?! He gave a blank apology (I understand Spanish so I know it was something that could've held off) and did the procedure. But making someone wait that long was rude. I had to have the nurse re-administer the local anesthesia a few times due to the delay. He commented on why I didn't do the full anesthesia but after milking me on an unnecessary CT scan, it really was ridiculous to have this conversation. He wasn't available for the follow up when I continued to have bleeding so met with his female colleague who gave me an antibacterial mouthwash (which he should have done). The other part of this review has to do with Grace, the office manager who first persuaded me that we needed that CT scan. She gave a letter for why the oral surgeon thought this scan was necessary but knew very well insurance wouldn't cover it. She was pretty dismissive on the phone (and frankly rude) and later apologized for it too. Forget the being rude, her reply literally included that the original insurance verification denied it, which they knew yet still pushed patients in pain to go ahead and still pay for. It's unsavory practices like this that confirm that I will never return to this practice and would advise against it unless you have a few hundred dollars to spare and are willing to play round robin with the doctor's availability and try your own patience. read more

From the consultation to post op care Dr. Shahgoli and his team provided one of the best medical experiences I have ever been treated with. I had four wisdom teeth extracted. The bottom two were unerupted and impacted. I received IV sedation after listening to the advice of several friends in the dental field and have zero regrets. "Here comes the good stuff" the doctor said...next thing I know I'm awake four teeth lighter. What amazed me the most was the recovery time and the lack of pain following surgery. I'm 40 years old and not the young pup most people are when getting their wisdom teeth extracted. Older age translates to longer and more difficult recovery when it comes to any kind of invasive procedure. I had none of that. Minimal facial swelling. Minimal swelling inside the mouth. Pain levels near zero. I would 100% recommend Dr. Shahgoli to all of my friends and family. read more

Somewhat long account of my experience with Dr. Shahgoli - in short, I was aware and very anxious throughout the procedure despite being told I would be "asleep" with IV medication, and Dr. Shahgoli then tried to deny that I had been aware and shaking anxiously when confronted afterwards. Would not recommend him to anyone due to his incompetence with sedation and lack of compassion. Had a truly terrible experience with Dr. Shahgoli when he removed my wisdom teeth in summer of 2017. Upon my initial consultation with Dr. Shahgoli, I did feel like I was being "sold" the procedure; he had a very smarmy Manhattan hot shot quality to his demeanor. Despite my misgivings, my dental insurance was about to expire, leaving me with little time and few options. I'm someone with a considerable amount of procedure-related anxiety, and I wanted a good idea of what to expect with the procedure, especially knowing that the standard of anesthesiology for the procedure is IV conscious sedation. "You're going to be asleep. You're not going to remember anything" is what I was told. That couldn't have been further from the case. I am unsure what IV medication was utilized for my procedure, but the process of "conscious sedation" ended up being much more conscious and much less sedate than I had been led to believe. Though I certainly felt slightly foggy and didn't experience any pain due to the activity of local anesthetics, I was aware, extremely anxious, and uncomfortable for the extent of the procedure. I was very aware of physical manipulation going on even though it wasn't exactly pain, and I trembled for most of the procedure. At multiple points Dr. Shahgoli told me "You need to calm down" or "You need to stop shaking or we're not going to be able to finish this". For someone with fears about medical procedures, this level of awareness and anxiety was my worst fear going into the procedure. After the procedure was done and the IV was removed, I completely recovered my faculties immediately - sitting up and in complete control of myself physically and mentally, and very upset because of the trauma of the procedure/discordance between what happened and the expectations that had been set - none of those funny post-anesthesia recovery videos for me. The medical staff had left the room and a few moments later my mom came back to the room (she had driven 6 hours to the city since I had been told I would be incredibly out of it following the procedure and would need someone to accompany me home for safety reasons). She could tell I was upset, and I began to explain that I hadn't been asleep and could remember the procedure. Before I had the chance to explain much more than that, Dr. Shahgoli came back, all self-satisfied, "The procedure went very well!" My mother told him that I said I had been awake and anxious throughout the procedure, and he informed her that of course I had not been, it had gone very well. When I stated that I had been awake and reminded him that he had told me to stop shaking, he changed tactics - "We used almost twice the amount of sedative typically used for her weight because she was so anxious throughout." He oscillated between this defense and that things had gone very well/I had been asleep; realizing that he was not going to admit to how poorly I had tolerated the procedure/how poorly he had set my expectations, and not wanting to get any more upset with 4 gaping wounds in my mouth, my mom and I left soon after that. The only plus of the situation was that I was so aware and not-groggy, we saved money on the uber home because I had no trouble navigating the trains. The positives of the experience: my post-operative course went relatively smoothly - no complications of the procedure, did not require use of opioid pain management. Also, my post-operative appointment was with Dr. Shahgoli's colleague Dr. Del Valle, and I found him much kinder and more compassionate than Dr. Shahgoli (a note on the post-op appointment: when I was taken back to a room, I saw my procedure note was up on the computer - Shahgoli had documented something to the effect of "patient tolerated procedure without difficulty" - what a lie). Additionally, office staff were very polite and helpful in getting the logistics taken care of. For me, though, the terrible operative experience was very consistent with what many people dread as the worst case scenario with dental care, and I would not recommend Dr. Shahgoli to anyone. I see a lot of positive reviews here and it's great that they had a good experience, but personally I would never risk coming here again. read more

Billing practices of Dr Shahgoli and Dr. Del Valle are scandalous. Even though they are in-network with my insurance they charged me for a full procedure and left me with getting a refund from the insurance while they are the one who has to fill the claim with the insurer; basically they don't care since they've got paid already. Also the fashion it was done with is outrages. When I was sitting in pain on chair after a consult the office manager asked me to sign the paperwork and to give her a credit card to charge me for the procedure. Even though I questioned the upfront billing it was either their way or highway. I highly discourage anyone from using the office. read more

Great office, everyone was very nice. Del Valle did my surgery to remove my two wisdom teeth at the bottom - i didn't ask to go under, just local anesthesia and laughing gas (which i totally recommend everyone gets - no need for general anesthesia, in my opinion). He was done so fast i couldn't believe it - when i thought he was done with just one, he was done with both. With the exception of when the doctor is injecting the local anesthesia, the whole thing was painless - pain came after, but that's what the painkiller meds that are prescribed are for and you should be fine after about a week. Make sure you don't drink through a straw or spit all the time and do eat soft foods and rinse with salt water to avoid dry socket and/or getting an infection. Went back two months later for a follow up and Dr. Shahgoli checked up on me - the whole thing including wait time was 10 minutes, i was in and out. Good service and it's also the kind of service you'll probably only need once in your life. My only criticism is that their billing policy is kind of crazy - you pay the whole thing upfront and then get reimbursed by the insurance. I ended up dropping like $1000 upfront. It's not so much this policy, although i find it strange, but that I only found out about it by reading reviews online myself, they don't tell you this when you call and i think they should as a matter of principle because not everyone will be able to front the cost and some will opt for another oral surgeon just for that reason. I would've been pissed if i wouldn't have found out about this until arriving on the day of surgery. read more

I had to have a tooth extracted that had gone bad from periodontal disease. The procedure also included cutting the bridge that the tooth anchored and "seeding" the socket with what I call "magic bone dust" which, over time, creates denser bone strong enough to support an implant. Dr. Del Valle was recommended by my excellent regular dentist, Dr. Grace Jeon. I could not have been happier with Dr. Del Valle and Manhattan Maxillofacial Surgery Group. The offices are immaculate, the support staff professional and the procedure was top notch from the initial consultation to the surgery, all completed within 3 days. Everything was explained to me by the doctor in detail, including what he would be doing, why it had to be done and what I could expect going forward. Equally important, Julie, the Office Manager, outlined the costs (extremely reasonable!) to me after the consult, which was particularly helpful, including what she thought insurance would pay and what they wouldn't. The procedure was handled expertly and I was out of the chair in about an hour. I didn't miss any work and here I am the next day with very little pain. Thanks to the entire team! read more

Dr. Todd Hanna did a very difficult impacted wisdom tooth extraction on my 98 yr. old dad. Dr. Hanna took the time to explain exactly what needed to be done and how it would be executed. We were already aware of this extensive training in the field but after we met him, we knew he was the doctor we would trust to do this very involved surgery. Not only was he an accomplished surgeon but he had compassion and a great sense of humor. My father and I both felt at ease with this wonderful doctor. The surgery turned out well. My dad is doing fine. He can open his mouth and eat again without tremendous pain. We are both so thankful to Dr. Hanna. He did a surgery that no other doctor wanted to do because of the difficulty and the fact that my dad was quite elderly. The staff is also amazing. The Office Manager, Grace (a name that befits her) was so kind and made sure my dad got scheduled as soon as possible. She was such a pleasure to deal with. Dr. Hanna's Surgical Assistant, Emi was also delightful. She was excellent in dealing with a geriatric patient. She called the next day to make sure my dad was doing well. I can't say enough about how compassionate Dr. Hanna and his staff were. Everyone was wonderful from the technicians to the receptionist, Yessi who greeted every client with a welcoming smile. I highly recommend Dr. Hanna. I would give him 1,000 stars if I could. read more

I cannot say enough about Dr. Shagoli and his staff. Everyone was so kind, and Dr. Shagoli was so considerate: not at all condescending (as has been my experience with previous dentists/oral surgeons/etc). I had all four wisdom teeth pulled on aThursday morning, and was back to work on Monday- almost no swelling (everyone was shocked- they kept saying "wait, didn't you get your wisdom teeth pulled?!) and I was able to start eating solid food again that night. I had heard horror stories about getting all four teeth pulled at once, and was prepared for days, maybe even weeks, of discomfort, but this was easily the best it could have possible gone. I felt completely back to normal by Sunday. I am eternally grateful for this fantastic experience and highly recommend this office! read more

To echo the comments of everyone else - GO HERE to get your wisdom teeth out!! After a really unpleasant consult with another oral surgeon (Dr. Kim), I put off getting my teeth out for over a year, until my dentist told me I would be sorry if I didn't do it right away and I was forced to go in. Dr. Shahgoli's reception staff were very friendly and I booked the appointment ASAP with no conflicts, and they told me I didn't even have to come in for a consult first (they accepted my MetLife insurance). They got xrays from my dentist and I didn't have to do anything to coordinate this, which was great. The most important thing for me was that I did NOT want general anesthesia (which the previous surgeon had refused me) and Dr. Shahgoli was happy to just give me local novocaine. The day of the surgery, he explained what my xrays looked like, what we were going to do, and what the (unlikely) complications might be, and asked if I had any questions. He was extremely confident which really put me at ease. Once the drugs had set in (he checked me and I needed a second set of injections to really numb me), he went straight to work. I really did not feel a drop of pain, and the entire surgery took under 10 minutes, including him stitching me up. Seriously, it took longer for the anesthesia to set in than it did to pull both my bottom teeth out; I was SO grateful I did not have general anesthesia for this. Everyone in his office was extremely friendly and helpful. I scheduled a followup a week later and although Dr. Shahgoli was away, his partner Dr. Del Valle was a pleasure to see as well, and assured me there were no complications with my post-op but that I should not hesitate to contact them if I ever have any concerns. I also don't know why people are complaining about the facilities because the entire office seemed brand new and extremely clean to me. Would recommend in a heartbeat. I should also add that the entire procedure for the 2 teeth was only $580 (total price, before insurance subsidy) which I was quite pleasantly surprised about. I'm sure it gets more expensive with general anesthesia but I was thrilled to get my teeth pulled for so little. read more

Can't believe I haven't written a review of my wisdom tooth removal. I was referred here by my dentist at Tribeca Dental Design. They took my Metlife Insurance, were easy enough to set up appointments. Receptionists were really nice. The office is very dated, and a total 180 from the gleaming modern feel of Tribeca Dental Design, but you're really here for the services, not decor. Most likely you'll be knocked out so you won't be seeing anything anyway. I met with Dr. Shahgoli who is your typical no-nonsense New Yorker. He's Persian but looks straight out the Godfather lol. Even has the downturned mouth shrug stance perfected. He told me in 5 sentences what we were doing and that's it. But this was all in a good way that was reassuring because it was apparent he had done this so many times that he knew was he doing. I was nervous (obviously - who isn't) but he was so matter-of-fact and confident so I made the appointment. Best part? Day of my appointment, I came in, got my drugs injected and woke up in 40 minutes. My fiance hadn't even found parking for our car by the time Dr. Shahgoli was done. Apparently, my wisdom teeth were partially out and were very easy, straight forward extractions, but it was a really well done procedure. I had flare ups and some issues, but that was due to the usual extraction issues. No dry socket or anything serious, thank God. They were liberal with prescribing meds but I didn't even need all of them. I would definitely recommend coming here for oral surgery. It's not the most modern office but everything is up to date and the doctors get the job done quickly, efficiently and safely. read more

Damn, what a great experience! I knew I had to get my wisdom teeth taken out, and my dentist recommended this office. Dr. Shahgoli (I believe) was amazing, and put me at ease as soon as he came in. He discussed all my options super clearly (I had to get my bottom wisdom teeth taken out, but said I didn't really need the top ones out yet, but ultimately it was my choice. I ended up getting them all done at once). The general anesthesia was super easy, and it literally felt like I blinked and it was all over. Dr shahgoli killed it. I was told by many people that having a wisdom tooth removed would take an hour or so. He did it in 15 minutes and I didn't feel a thing. Came in with my cousin on a Wednesday morning. He was getting a consultation. Or that was what he had planned. I was called in first, and then he was called in. He quickly numbed me up and then quickly numbed him up and then ten minutes later, he came in and chipped my tooth out in less than 15 minutes. I felt nothing. He sewed me up quick and it turns out, the time he used to yank my tooth out, was the time he allowed my cousins anesthesia to set in. And then 10 minutes later he came out. That's two wisdom teeth out in a matter of 20 minutes tops. Both removals were painless and neither of us are bleeding now at all. Eating solid foods and everything. Also, highly recommend local anesthesia and nitrous. You don't need general Anesthesia. He does it so well and fast you don't need anything except local. read more

My experience with Dr. Del Valle and his staff was as great as getting a tooth could possibly be. Dr. Del Valle and his team are fantastic! I explained to them during the consultation that one i was type 1 diabetic and was scared due to having my insulin pump and two because of a previous dental procedure petrified of having another extraction. The medical assistant calmed me and made sure I felt supported, Dr. Del Valle assured me everything would be okay and to speak to my endos to make sure my blood sugar would not drop when my procedure to have my two wisdom teeth removed. Had the procedure done two days ago and I've literally heard I would be in terrible pain... i have no discomfort, no pain, minimal swelling! I just had four wisdom teeth extracted today (9/16) and I'm on my way, no pain. OMG! Dr. Shahgoli is an amazing oral surgeon. He is clearly the "Tooth Whisperer." He calmed all of my fears. I had four impacted wisdom teeth and for months, I mulled over many patient reviews for Oral Surgeons in the Manhattan area. The search process, which had been going on for almost a year, ended when a friend had recommended Dr. del Valle. The recommendation came from first-hand experience so it was a no brainer. I went in for a consultation and after we decided on a date for the extraction. The day of, I was put to to sleep via IV sedation and within an hour all four molars were gone. They gave me a packet with instructions, some gauze pad and my prescription and sent me on my way. I had the surgery done on a Friday afternoon after work and I was completely healed and ready to eat solid food in a little over a week. Everyone from the the office manager Heather, to the surgical staff (can't remember her name because I was still medicated when I asked her), to Dr. del Valle are extremely nice and professional. I've had all four of my wisdom teeth removed at once a couple of years ago by Dr. Shagoli. I was recommended that if I wanted to be put under full anesthesia, Dr. Shagoli was the man to see. I got to the office with my wife, and I was shown in upon arrival. Once I was seated, I was injected then I was masked. I was told to count backwards from 100. 100 99 98 97 Then I counted 96. But when I counted 96, I was told I'm all set. I was confused at first. I just sat down? How could I be done? But when I moved about my tongue, I felt that I no longer had my wisdom teeth. Without fully comprehending what has happened, I was helped out by my wife. I bled a lot. I mean a LOT. Like a couple of handful of blood. I expected it, though, since I removed all four. Once the anesthesia wore off, I felt incredible amount of discomfort and pain, but overall, I didn't get much swelling on both side of my jaws, and I was all good. It took a couple of weeks before incisions made by wisdom teeth were sort of closed. It took another few months before they settled down, and about a half year before I couldn't feel anything was there before. Overall, I don't remember anything in regards to the procedure, but I'm a happy customer and I would recommend anyone who needs their wisdom teeth removed to Dr. Shagoli :-) read more

Fantastic dental work Dr. Shahgoli! I came here for a wisdom tooth extraction last week and cannot say enough about how quick, painless and professional the experience was. First of all, the office is clean and very professional. His staff is also very friendly. Dr. Shahgoli was very informative of my options for the extraction and didn't do anything without my consent. The procedure was very quick at about 20-25 minutes and I have to say this was my most enjoyable wisdom tooth extraction ever (with 2 prior ones taken out elsewhere). Dr. Antonio del Valle is great. I had to have a couple of wisdom teeth removed and was somewhat nervous. Nobody likes going to the dentist (or oral surgeon for that matter), but Dr. del Valle's compassionate demeanor helps make the situation better. Dr. del Valle explained the steps involved and made sure that I was at ease with the procedure. During the procedure, everything went smoothly, and he even paused a couple of times to ask how I was doing. I had an appointment to get a surgical procedure and the week of Dr Shagoli just cancelled because it was a Friday. If it had been for a legitimate reason I would be okay but it obviously was because he wanted to take the day off. Given that I had to coordinate time off and also coordinate for my bf to take time off to pick me up from a procedure, it was extremely rude and upsetting. Obviously, they do not prioritize the health of their patients. Also, when I asked to get all my paperwork sent over, the receptionist never did. Of course I was warned by another doctor that they would do that. This is what is wrong with the healthcare system! read more

Dr. Shahgoli is pure magic. Went in to have my 4 wisdom teeth removed, I was so nervous and opted for the IV sedation. Dr. Shahgoli did not let me feel any pain after the pinch of the needle. I was instantly out and feel like 5 seconds later, he came in and told me the procedure is over. I expect a lot of pain post op, but surprisingly, only one side out of four was mildly painful within the 24 hours. The other three sides - I did not feel any pain even just after the anesthesia wears off. I am so grateful for all that he's done! I am probably a very difficult patient as I am so sensitive to even the slightest feeling of discomfort on the chair. I can not recommend him enough, and I am so so thankful that he did the extractions. It could not have gone any better than this, not a chance. Thank you Dr. Shahgoli!! read more

Dr. Shahgoli was God sent!!! I was anxious to have my wisdom tooth pulled after a horrible experience with an endodontist who did a root canal on me last Summer. I loved that they had the laughing gas option available. I felt no pain whatsoever when he numbed me nor when he pulled it. The procedure was over pretty quickly. I would recommend him to anyone. I don't think I have ever met anyone that was ever excited to get their wisdom teeth extracted. When it was my turn, I was no exception. I waited as long as possible before I had to take them out, to the point where one wisdom tooth was already impacted into one of my other teeth. I was trying to coordinate my appointment on a Friday, giving myself a few days to rest, however others probably had the same idea. Luckily for me, they were open on Columbus and I was able to sneak in an appointment. I was recommended by my dentist (Dr. Cho from Meridian Dental Group) and was told that Dr. Shahgoli was one of the best. I've came in and all the staff were extremely friendly and answered all my questions. When I first met Dr. Shahgoli, I was stumped because he's awfully excited to the point that I was getting confused. Similar to everyone's reviews, it somehow made me felt very comfortable with him. I've decided to get sedated as Dr. Shahgoli had to cut open my gums (because of the impacted tooth), also made a last minute decision to remove all four since I was sedated. I had no idea when I was sedated, the only downside was that when I woke up, I was still being operated. I do not recall too much of it, which is great, however it could've been scary. It's day 1 after my "surgery" and I feel mild pain (he prescribed a good amount of painkillers) with no swelling. (Heard the swelling comes 2-3 days in), will update. But highly recommended to anyone planning to get their wisdom teeth extracted. read more

I went in today to get all four wisdom teeth extracted. I was initially really nervous and furthermore the nurses could tell by my pulse and my stats. This was weeks and weeks worth of tension, apprehension, and anxiety wrapped up into one package. I can't tell you the amount of hours on end I took reading about different types of anesthetics and the risks associated with each of them. Processes, risks, fatality rates, etc.. seems so silly! I opted for IV Sedation because it seemed perfect to both me and the surgeon treating me, Dr. Antonio Del Valle. I was given Nitrous Oxide at first (for my anxiety and racy pulse) and then I was IV Sedated. I remember very little, but I DO remember asking everyone in the room before the surgery how my stats were, haha! Wouldn't you know, blink of an eye, everything was done. Dr. Del Valle is really nice and made me feel very comfortable during the procedure. I have literally no complaints, he is an oral surgeon wizard. If you need oral surgery of any kind, go see him. So far not that much pain, following the directions given to me and it's been working out fine. I am so relieved and happy. read more
